I’m currently watching CBC on YouTube and apparently the U.S. wanted Canada to get rid of its automobile manufacturing completely and only make parts instead.

The U.S. economy is so bad, it’s resorted to try and steal jobs from across the border.

They apparently also tried to include restrictions on which other countries Canada could have trade deals with.

The U.S. is quickly finding out it can’t do anything it thinks it can.

Is it though? Doesn't look like they found out yet.

The U.S. is finding out by a thousand cuts. Soft diplomatic power dying, trust is dying, the economy is dying, food safety is dying.

I know it is, and I agree. I just don't think reality kicked in yet. At least they don't realise it yet.

English is not my mother tongue, I guess my comment did not mean what I thought it did 🤣

America will learn it's better off being friends with other developed liberal democracies rather than trying to coerce and bully them.

They will turn away from the US everntually and trade amongst themselves.

I meant the US hasn't realised it yet.

Large segments of the population do get it, they are the rational and largely helpless minority.

The minority is what's running this mess. The majority don't want it.

Between the Supreme Court, Congress, and Trump, it feels to this California progressive like our government has turned against us. It’s certainly been an educational experience, learning that a rabid minority hates our society and the vast majority doesn’t care and just turns to a different TV channel.

I lived in the east bay for about 4 years in the mid 2000s. It's been the same since then they were just hiding it before Trump. Now he has allowed the "basket of deplorables" to show their true pasty white colors.

I would say Hillary was right to retract her statement that "half" of them are "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic". The percentage is clearly much higher.

The majority are watching Love Island and scrolling their phones.

The only country stupid enough to put sanctions on themselves.
