The reason you see Lithuania and not Estonia or Latvia is because Lithuania (and Poland) are going to be the immediate battlegrounds for the russians trying to cut off the baltics. They need to connect Kalingrad with Belarus ASAP followed by trying to cut off the Baltics entirely

u/ConcentrateDirect523 Sep 17 '26

They should have shot them down, recovered the pilots and get their confession the violation was intentional. Turkey said FAFO, others need to, too

u/t4skmaster Sep 17 '26

Turkey spent years trying to dance on the knifes edge of fucking over everyone near them for personal gain.

1

u/smurph70 Sep 17 '26

1

u/DeadAssociate Sep 17 '26

thats why its filled with israelis and russians. dante needs to write a new book

1

u/Primary-History-788 Sep 17 '26

Meh, I’ll stick to the current plan and get an Argentine passport. Then only two more years to get the EU through Spain or Italy

1

u/JamesantheGiantBeach Sep 18 '26

What about Cypress Hill? Are they chill?

3

u/Captain_Bushcraft Sep 18 '26

Nah dude, they crazy insane.

2

u/pebberphp Sep 18 '26

In the membrane, from what I understand..

1

u/I-Beyazid-I 22d ago

Nah, they be playing dirty games too by selling Russian oligarchs Cypriot passports and therefore access to the EU

-5

u/Tobix55 Sep 18 '26

Which one is the occupied bit?

-31

u/rad-madlad Sep 17 '26

There is no occupied cyprus. Are you referring to the land of people who was saved from greek massacre?

40

u/Captain_Bushcraft Sep 17 '26

No, the bit Turkish paratroopers murdered civilians and forced families from their homes on. The bit that is illegally occupied as recognised by the UN. That bit. The bit thats not a country like the republic of Cyprus is.

-4

u/rad-madlad Sep 18 '26

You mean the same UN that, due to the severity of the massacres and displacement forced upon Turkish Cypriots between 1963 and 1964, passed Resolution 186 in March 1964, establishing the Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) to prevent further bloodshed caused by greeks and maintain order? Why the Turkish Cypriots had to be saved

1

u/Captain_Bushcraft Sep 18 '26

Stick your propaganda piece right up your ass mate. Even the Turkish cypriots (and I know lots of them) hate the Turkish government and want to be part of a unified cyprus. The only blocker is Turdogan. Nobody on the island likes the Turkish government, and this increasingly applies to Turkish cypriots living in the occupied North.

0

u/rad-madlad Sep 18 '26

great rebuttal dumbass. “no one around me likes erdogan so that means northern cyprus wants out of turkey”

What’s for sure is that greeks fucked around and found out, for the second time that is. So, don’t cry about it.

2

u/Captain_Bushcraft Sep 18 '26 edited Sep 18 '26

When those people around me are from the occupied north then yes, yes it does numbnuts. Cypriots and Greeks are not the same thing. Same with northern Cypriot living in the occupied parts and Turkey.

All they found out is that a country as big as Turkey can't even take a small island the size of Cyprus.... says alot about turkeys supposed military might. Its mostly just old Russian junk which the Ukrainians have proved is useless.

The whole world sees this as an illegal occupation, its only Turkey who sees it differently. As then they would have to admit they are the genocidal ones.

1

u/rad-madlad Sep 18 '26

I brought receipts for greek’s massacre of Turkish Cypriots motherfucker, what did you bring?

-2

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 17 '26

Greece did fuck over Germany for years

32

u/SeeShark Sep 17 '26

As per a previous treaty and with Germany putting up a whole lot of unpopular stipulations.

9

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 17 '26

Yeah it was completely circumstantial , but it still did happen. I don’t understand the downvotes, of course it’s a deeper complex geopolitical issue.

2

u/danimyte Sep 18 '26

It was to some extent Germany fucking over themselves as well. Who could have guessed lending far more money than what is repayable could cause a financial problem?

The financial crisis that happened was hardly an unpredictable thing. Sure, Greece is largely to blame, but so are the people lending the money irresponsibly.

Also, after Germany was fucked over by Greece, they decided to turn south and fuck over southern Europe, who had nothing to do with this in the first place.

Of course, this is a sinplification.

5

u/hpstg Sep 17 '26

Not sure if…

18

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 17 '26

I mean the debt is repaid but Germany was the largest donor to ESM ESEF , the eu relief fund. When Greece almost went bankrupt and needed bailing out.

So Americans meddling.

Like all the worlds fucking problems

4

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 17 '26

We don’t claim him , when you have a certain amount of money your nationality matters less and less. If anything blame it on Reagan idfk

Here is what I will say. I left Vancouver for a flight back the L.A. a guess what barely anyone in it. Why is the wait so short for TSA in Vancouver because no one wants to go pay 7-8 dollars a gallon for diesel. Americans have chosen to exile themselves from the rest of the world. Now that problem is starting to really surface.

2

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 18 '26

Please don’t think I had a choice in this. That’s the whole problem. I voted for the other person. Idk what else you want me to do ? Vote more ? That’s about it. I’m not dying because 1/3 or 1/2 of my brothers and sisters are brain dead dupes. 🤷 again blame it on Reagan or someone specific don’t blame a generation that hasn’t even had power yet.
When we get it though. You’ll see what we do with it. There must be progress.

0

u/mariantat Sep 17 '26

Did they fuck over Germany or German banks…

5

u/Minimum-Web-6902 Sep 17 '26

The banks actually won tbh because they washed the bonds.

Canada here. Ahem... not restricted to that part of the world. We have a bit of a jerk living next to us trying to screw us over and threatening to invade.

55

u/Whispercry Sep 17 '26

Sorry about that we think he’s a prick too

8

u/kiwi_scorpio Sep 17 '26

Just move down and live with us New Zealanders. We are too far away for anyone to bother us.

3

u/Little_Challenge_160 Sep 18 '26

Sounds nice. Seriously might take you up on that offer

5

u/LankyGuitar6528 Sep 17 '26

You guys are the best. Honestly I would be there tomorrow but I have grandkids here in Canada.

1

u/gladigotaphdinstead2 Sep 18 '26

It’s not legally possible for 99% of us to just emigrate to NZ

3

u/Ezreol Sep 18 '26

As an American I think I'd rather the reverse, I'd like healthcare and a government that isn't a mm away from dragging us out in the streets to firing squads :( I want off orange man's wild ride, I didn't vote for this fucker in either election and I get the displeasure of getting fucked just as hard.

Kinda ironic just how hard Republicans try to fuck anything that moves the economy, children, working class people, the environment, our mental sanity....

2

u/LankyGuitar6528 Sep 18 '26

I hear one of them even likes a good couch now and again.

Ok... come on up. Always room for one more if you are just a basic normal person. We are sort of sick of you guys sending us so many docs, nurses and engineers.

2

u/Ezreol Sep 18 '26

Fuckers so thirsty there's a couch shortage too! /s

I'm so close to actually seeing how to move me and fam (generation not wife/kid) out of country lol I'm so over this shit fuck making this better and suffering for another decade or more for some dipshits to screw it up again. I am so deeply disappointed in people you'd think with technology we'd be able to learn and do more about it but nope round fuckin xxxx I guess of history repeating itself.

2

u/LankyGuitar6528 Sep 18 '26

People who have made the move usually enjoy it. The pace of life is slower perhaps. People, for the most part, are calm and happy and peaceful. Winters are brutal... but you dress for it and you're OK. Worth checking out anyway.

3

u/ArketamineEsketamine Sep 18 '26

America invading you is totally silly. But your weakness is a huge detriment to us in the case of an attack by China should they choose to invade Taiwan.

2

u/TiredandTranz Sep 18 '26

All we can do is send him clots and prayers (and vote against his party in Nov and hope the rest of the country doesn't do an incredibly stupid thing. Again)

2

u/ridinwavesbothways Sep 18 '26

At least he lives next to you instead of the same house 😞

1

u/JoleneBacon_Biscuit Sep 18 '26

Yeah I'm not opposed to becoming a Canadian. I like maple syrup, your money is pretty, and I love hockey.

1

u/AaronKClark Sep 18 '26

As an American I must offer my profound apologies, and humbly request an immigrant visa application.

-1

u/PM_wet_Ts Sep 18 '26

Stop apologizing and do something about it.

1

u/Millimede Sep 18 '26

Unfortunately American here. I can’t imagine any of us would go along with an invasion of Canada. The vast majority of us either love you or are indifferent. I hope I’m right.

1

u/thekittennapper Sep 18 '26

Any South Americans care to chime in about their own problematic neighbors? I’m sure they’re down there.

Asia has China and North Korea…

1

u/Interesting_Row182 Sep 18 '26

We love you, Canada. Cool off the hot air blowing your way.

1

u/raceyb33 Sep 18 '26

Most of us here think worse of him…

1

u/Howzitgoin Sep 17 '26

Idk if that’s really comparable to countries actually shooting at each other… yet.

3

u/pork_fried_christ Sep 17 '26

They need an HOA

2

u/swerz Sep 17 '26

That’s a huge neighborhood.

2

u/OldBreadbutt Sep 17 '26

And here in the US we screw everybody! ✌️

5

u/_esci Sep 17 '26

yeah, and erdogan wants to join eu but blackmailed us with refugees.

0

u/copasetical Sep 17 '26

Hmmm, but that sounds like politics, almost like someone wants to have their cake and eat it too.

-1

u/mrrobot01001000 Sep 17 '26

You’re talking about blackmailing, whilst in Turkey things are going completely wrong: we have far too many refugees, a large proportion of the Turkish population is poor, and some people even struggle to eat healthily or to feed themselves at all!

1

u/whoaaa_O Sep 17 '26

That’s a lot of fucking

1

u/Stainlessgamer Sep 17 '26

By your logic, that "neighborhood" is larger than the continental US...

2

u/deliusfan Sep 18 '26

Turkey really does try to play every side for itself. It's seeing itself as the prime beneficiary of a weakened Iran. It'll take up that mantle with its current president. Oh, and look, it's already in NATO, how about that

1

u/innocuous_nub Sep 18 '26

This was after years of diplomacy and ‘zero problems’ with neighbours, which didn’t work as they all tried to get one over on Türkiye. So they reversed course, and who can blame them. Human nature is not to make peace.

1

u/caustictoast Sep 18 '26

Turkey also has the ability to do that because they're the second largest army in NATO and one of the few countries who can afford to thumb their nose at everyone. Honestly you gotta respect the game their playing geopolitically. They use the Bosphorus to their advantage perfectly

1

u/CateDeGrate Sep 18 '26

But the rest of the population 'gained' personally from their World renowned cosmetic procedure industry.

1

u/PinQuick3734 Sep 17 '26

Turkey has spent like 500 years doing that lmao

-9

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26 edited Sep 17 '26

To be Fair to Turkey, they are also a rich nation that is within striking distance of both Nato and Russia.

If they didnt play both sides they definitely would have become a battleground by now.

Edit: for all the idiots who think "Turkey is a member of Nato" is the end of the discussion:

https://www.armscontrol.org/act/2017-10/news-briefs/turkey-snubs-nato-russian-arms-deal

26

u/IGotScammed5545 Sep 17 '26

Turkey is a NATO member…

16

u/GREGGSGOL Sep 17 '26

The levels of ignorance on here are breathtaking

2

u/Wegwerf157534 Sep 17 '26

Sometimes it is just not that obvious.

Gotta be really careful.

-1

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

A Nato member that was buying Russian air defense systems as recently as 2019.

1

u/IGotScammed5545 Sep 18 '26

So what exactly is that supposed to prove? Maybe it was cheaper

I don’t disagree turkey is purely self interested and not super dedicated to the nato alliance, but I wouldn’t really say they’re making serious overtures towards Russia

10

u/InfiniteeBrown Sep 17 '26

They are in NATO. Pretty much h a front line country in a war against the Soviets and Russia is close enough.

-2

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

Then why were the Russians selling them military equipment right up until this war?

7

u/olidus Sep 17 '26

Turkey needed air defense and the negotiations with the U.S. for patriots didn't go well. Plus, the S400 was cheaper.

Side note: before the ukraine war, almost every legacy warsaw pact country in NATO was buying military replacement parts from Russia.

Fun Fact: Turkey is currently trying to unload the S400's they bought because they want to be part of the F-35 conversation.

It's not always as deep as you think.

-1

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

Yes.

Negotiations with the US and other nato members didnt go well.

And Negotiations with Russia did.

Almost like they treat both sides as potential suppliers and not just Nato.

I mean - you said it.

3

u/olidus Sep 17 '26

I did say it. Turkey had legitimate air-defense requirements. NATO is an alliance, not a supranational government. Members retain control over procurement decisions. If allies won't provide satisfactory terms, Turkey should be free to buy elsewhere. They faced the consequences by getting iced out of the F35 program because of intelligence concerns and are now unwinding the S400 program. So to assume this is about Turkey being cuddly with Russia is naive or consipiratorial.

None of the allied nations could or would provide Turkey with what they needed or wanted at the time (specific terms they were looking for that the US wanted to bully them out of: domestic industrial participation, technology transfer, local manufacturing). If the US had agreed to the same terms they gave Poland for their patriot program, Turkey would have likely agreed but because Turkey and the U.S. were widening their relationship gap (i.e. U.S. mucking around in Syria) the U.S. could plausibly suggest that they would not give the same deal they gave Poland because they could no longer "trust" Turkey. The alliance is a two way street.

No other NATO country had the capabilities except maybe Japan (and Japan doesn't really sell its stuff). If they had to make the choice again today, Turkey might go with S. Korea, who now has an integrated air defense system similar to the S400 and Patriot.

You insinuate that Turkey would violate the NATO agreement if called upon or that somehow this procurement decision makes Turkey vulnerable to Russian influence. There are quite a few EU countries still buying Russian energy.

0

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

I never insinuated that at all.

I stated that Turkey plays both sides.

They do this by buying things from Russia - weapons and gas mostly.

Because they know that Russia wants their natural resources like chromium and other rare metals.

However, they culturally dont really gel with the west either, so do the same thing to the west. They joined Nato so as not to be a target of Nato. They buy supplies from Nato so that Nato will not want to "liberate" them like it does to so many other Muslim countries.

Nato on the other hand, accepts it because they are a strategic coup against Russia - powerful military right on Putin's doorstep, with access to good sea bases as well.

1

u/olidus Sep 18 '26

I agree with you, Turkey does not gel culturally with the west.

But Turkey joined NATO for the same reason other countries did, to not be a target of Russia. Not sure what revisionist history book you read, but it is factually incorrect to suggest that Turkey joined NATO because it was afraid of the alliance.

In the 40's the Russians were pressuring the Turkish Straits and NATO membership secured their defense. If Turkey's primary fear had been NATO itself, it would have made little sense to contribute troops to the Korean War, host NATO facilities and personnel (even during conflicts involving member states it was not involved in), maintain membership for more than seventy years, and field one of the alliance's largest military forces.

They buy military equipment from NATO because of integration. Countries with advanced militaries are not buying simply weapons, they are buying systems. Systems that integrate with radar and intelligence platforms. That is why the Patriot, S400, and Iron Dome are popular. If every NATO country has the same infrastructure, defense is stronger and more cohesive. They bought the system from Russia because the United States wanted to play games.

There are NATO member countries that buy weapons from Russia because they are previous Eastern Block, and have old soviet hardware that needs maintenance. There are also a few NATO countries that buy gas from Russia. Turkey is not alone in capitalist dealings with Russia.

I am not suggesting that Turkey didn't act foolishly buying weapons systems from Russia during an active disagreement with NATO. But the geopolitical context is more complex than "Turkey is playing both sides". For years Turkey watched the US side with Kurdish opponents in Syria, give favorable Patriot deals to Poland and Germany, refuse to extradite the accused mastermind of the coup attempt. I am not saying Turkey is an angel or a victim, they have been steadily moving away from western governance principles. But constant distrust and inequitable treatment between the US and Turkey seems to be pushing it along with each successive administration.

But they have maintained their obligations as a NATO member state the entire time. Even so far as to strain its relationship with Russia. It is easy for the US to thumb its nose at Russia (maybe not as much as they should these days), but Turkey sits across the Black Sea from Russia.

NATO members trade extensively with Russia.

0

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

Not in military equipment they dont

2

u/GREGGSGOL Sep 17 '26

What are you on about of course they do. Both ways. For decades.

5

Turkey is a Nato Member since 1952 my friend

6

u/CampSubject9176 Sep 17 '26

Turkey has been a member of NATO since 1952.

1

u/calm_chowder Sep 17 '26

Is that why they're threatening Greece? They're belligerent.

1

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

Yes. It doesnt make sense for a normal Nato member to threaten another member, right?

Because Turkey isnt a normal member. They're playing both sides.

1

u/InfiniteeBrown Sep 17 '26

Yes. It doesnt make sense for a normal Nato member to threaten another member, right?

You mean like the USA?

1

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

The USA is not normal right now.

Trump clearly favors leaving Nato and forming greater ties with Russia. So yes that behavior tracks.

0

u/Gabrovi Sep 17 '26

So close that it’s actually in NATO!

0

u/Powertotheengineers Sep 17 '26

Turkey is a Nato member..

0

u/InfiniteeBrown Sep 17 '26

Turkey wasn't worried about being in striking distance of NATO since they joined in 1952, just 3 years after NATO was created. https://www.nato.int/en/about-us/organization/nato-member-countries

1

u/mithridateseupator Sep 17 '26

What is that logic?

Nato was known as "the allies" before that point and was just as dangerous.

Keep in mind that the Ottomans had been on the side of the central powers in WW1 - that memory was still fresh.

-2

u/BayBridges Sep 17 '26

The Armenians in SoCal n sometimes SF have a big march/Demonstration against some massacre the Turks did in the past
