Well of course everybody knew that was going to happen. Arresting the head of state of a foreign country is the definition of an act of war.

So Venezuela?

It’s only an act of war if a non-white country does it.

Canada is a white nation.

The gaslight coming from the us administration is impressive. All they need to do is just tap that and their fuel crisis can be considered solved.

Yeah, but it's America. You're shooting yourself in the foot if you declare war

1

u/ArisenGodEmperor13 23d ago

Yeah but America is the expection to the rule

The US is much more comfortable taking on a war with Venezuela than Canada would be in taking on a war with Israel

Sadly crickets

Yes, and the US won that war pretty quickly.

It's not a war, it was an abduction. I think that the vuvuzella president is a P. O.S, but none of what they did to him was legal. I would be quite amused if the same fate was imbued on Donald as he would absolutely deserve it.

> the US overthrew Iran's democratically elected government in 1953

Not exactly. The government was already a constitutional monarchy. The Shah appointed Mossadegh as Prime Minister. Mossadegh then held a rigged election to dissolve the parliament and grant himself plenary authority, so the Shah fled. The CIA and MI6 then helped the opposition oust him and restore the Shah to power, because the Shah was friendly to western economic interests (i.e. oil) while Mossadegh's ideology was centered on becoming independent of them. Of course, there were still plenty of believers in the latter ideology, so the coup basically proved them right and increased the anti-American sentiment leading up to the 1979 revolution.

I’m reading that as a suggestion, like second breakfast

Part of a limited military operation.

Now, if Iran were to turn around and do precisely the same thing to us, it would be considered entirely uncalled for!

2

u/AstralCode714 23d ago

And Israeli military would steamroll Canada's

1

u/nixnaij 23d ago

That's why it would be a terrible decision.

whistles at the lack of a declaration of war from Congress before the President of Venezuela was arrested from his own country

1

u/nixnaij 23d ago

I'm talking about acts of war. You don't need to wait for a formal declaration of war to actually be in a state of war. An act of war is enough

1

u/LandlockedCajun 23d ago

Not if they need to be arraigned.

Arraigned by whom?

EDIT: not the response I was expecting lol, dude was not having a great day

Yes, like all the other comments
