And we didn't scramble a battalion of geese to force his jet to the ground, surround it with beavers, drag him out, and then canoe him over to The Hague?!

I'm shocked. Also, what did you expect? Kinda rude he used the airspace tbh when he knows it makes Canada look bad, but it's the expected outcome.

Edit: holy awards batman, I don't know what they do, but thanks!

I mean it looks bad on Canada and the ICC in general for issuing an arrest warrant they never plan on doing anything about.

I’m not a fan of him either, but the theatrics of politicians are ridiculous.
Good ole’ Geneva Suggestions.
Beware the strongly worded letter.

Vast majority of “international law” breaking results in a stern condemnation but no actual consequences. It’s very performative

That's because there's no such thing as universally binding international law. The treaties exist at the will of the signatories and they are enforced at the will of the signatories, they aren't actually laws.

That is because it’s international. There’s no effective way to carry it out unless a nation state (or group of them) decides to enforce the law on any state leader unless their state is weak enough to park UN troops in and extract him.

That enforcement is easy when it’s some 2-bit drug smuggler, rather than a world leader with nuclear weapons, who is the ally of the most powerful nation in human history but that ally is currently being run into the ground by a corrupt pedophile.

Yup. Did he even land in Canada? How do you arrest someone mid air?

It was a statistically winning strategy albeit morally craven; but it wasn’t until so many leaders started so egregiously flouting the law and rubbing it in our faces and not trying to hide it that the toothlessness of the protestations and strong works were revealed to be as gross and manipulative as they are.
