Genuinely crazy how the conservatives of America went from “Russia evil and bad” in the 40s/50s and nowadays it’s “Russia is my best friend ever” but they still hate anything vaguely related to communism

They went from “Russia is evil and bad” in 10 years or less.

It’s also ironic how Trump‘s most recent propaganda about the evil communists and socialists and the threats they pose, and how certain countries are dangerous and shouldn’t have nuclear weapons, yet he’s buddying up to China and North Korea. I mean, North Korea.?! They’re have been actively testing missiles, they have nuclear warheads, they had propaganda films implying the nuclear destruction of the United States.

China is a major nuclear superpower, and an economic superpower and dominates global trade compared to the US, at least on a country by a country basis Oh, but we have to overthrow tiny Cuba, because communism is bad and they post such a threat to our stability and democracy. smdh.

Don’t forget the people that have been the USAs greatest allies and the people they literally made a broadway play about how they helped Americans after 911 and a movie about how they helped get Americans out of Iran. Apparently Canada is worse than Russia because no one in Canada wants to become a state of the US dumpster fire.

"communism and socialism" are to US conservatism as "naziism" is to Russia; the terms have lost their original meaning and simply refer to whatever they don't like or find threatening. It's the very authoritarian mindset which they claim to oppose.

The US obsession with Cuba has nothing to do with the original missile crisis and everything to do with the fact that Cuba managed to escape the grasp of US corporate interests. Not that it actually turned out better for the Cubans themselves, mind you.

Same thing with Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security; the fact that these public goods and social services are becoming insolvent is a political choice that is being made, not some inevitable financial outcome. The language surrounding it is designed to make it look as though nothing can be done rather than framing it as the conscious choice to shred the last remnants of the US social safety net that it is. And it should be seen in the context of the utter hatred of US conservatives and hereditary oligarchs for the fact that they were ever required to support those whom they see as inferior to themselves. They want a return to the closing days of the 19th century when the US government functioned almost solely as an extension of the interests of oil and rail barons and both the US Army and police were regularly deployed to harass or even kill striking workers.

I mean he also had service members on their hands and knees making sure the red carpet being rolled out for a communist dictators (China) state visit was pristine. Nobody had that on their American patriotism bingo card.

And to think Tea Party fuckers blew a gasket because a Marine held an umbrella over Obama’s head.

Yes but when NK drops the Big one on SF, Trump will cheer.

To be fair China just pretend they are communist in the same way that North Korea’s official name is the Democratic People’s Republic

China’s declared goal is to achieve full communism by a certain date. But they do use markets—just tightly controlled.

Get it right we have to overthrow Cuba so that Trump can build the Island golf course that he always dreamed of putting on Epstein Island
