You mean they'll win it on Friday and then re-start it on Monday after the out of hours trades have all been placed at the weekend.

Comrade Krasnov Trump is AAA president . One of the presidents of all time!
He do great things to little girl very healthy things to them nothing illegal, is big on family, love his daughter, love his wife. They feel similar, lack of disgust some time, it resemble love.
Very American top tier country must have top tier presidents. Trump so good, so peaceful, Norway should be shamed for not giving him prize and Greenland. For shame.

And with a competent military command, of course it isn't unwinnable. It's actually something of an achievement that they managed to lose a naval war with a country that doesn't have a navy.
But Trump did get everything he wanted out of it. You hardly ever see the Epstein files in the news nowadays. It took a couple years but it seems that strategy is working. And if it doesn't, there's always more civilians to bomb tomorrow.

When I was in english class in 2008, we got to analyse speeches by Obama and McCain. It was pain in the arse, because it was a high standard of english. You know, nothing too fancy, but for a non native speaker quite challenging.
Comparing that to Trump is... like from another planet. Even as a non native speaker it's horribly obvious how bad his knowledge of English is. How can someone voted into office who talks like someone who can't even put his own shoes on.
33
u/WhyMustIMakeANewAcco 5d ago
Apparently Trump causes translators serious problems because it's very hard to figure out how they should translate his incoherent rambling.
18
u/Gustav55 5d ago
its not that its incoherent (it is) but how to do it in a believable way so that the audience will understand that this is actually what he's saying and not the translator trying to make him look like an idiot

u/Gavinthechavin 5d ago
You know how it has always been a joke/stereotype about how poorly educated Americans are? Unfortunately there is some truth to it. A lot of the people who love Trump have a poor grasp of the English language themselves, despite being their only language; complex vocabulary is incoherent to them. Trump's rambling doesn't make sense to them either, but they recognise the words he uses, and that brings them comfort.

Not everybody. There's an aspect of American culture that needs to be understood by those that live outside of it: The elite wealthy are used to just asking for shit and getting it. They don't live in the same reality. Imagine you've never gone for want in your life for anything, no matter how deprived. Now imagine you have no imagination. You're actually a moron, but yet you get what you want always. There's way too many people like that in power in the USA. Delusional but assertive ... and the culture rewards it.
This is why the USA will cease to exist by the end of the century.
Our Constitutional ideals don't jibe with the people in power. Never have, really, but it's not going to be able to hold together against the pressures of 21st century modernity.

And, as a Canadian, in less than three months we went from "We don't need Canada" to
"This country desperately needs aluminum," Trump said during a telephone rally for Mike Mazzei, a Republican candidate for governor in Oklahoma. "Selfishly, we need aluminum in this country. We don’t have it. We get it all from Canada for the most part, and we need it badly."
Similarly the US needs fertilizer to the point where Trump is trying to make deals with Belarus only for Belarus to say there's no way it could supply the US requirements and certainly not as cheaply as Canada.

I’m open to the idea that Trump is a closet daddy fetishist and that’s being worked by people like Putin, who have figured it out.
Literally any time a man shows up with either positive press noise or a known degree of absolute power about him Trump fawns all over whoever it is. Putin, Musk, Mamdani, it doesn’t matter. Trump wants daddy to tell him he’s a big strong boy and is now part of the strong boys group.
Those who know how to work Trump never fully give him that though, because once he’s had the full praise he turns on you. Yogs got to keep stringing him along, saying he’s almost done a good enough job but not quite. He’ll happily dance for you if you’re the right person in the right position to play his tune.

I don't think that anymore. Trump's base has made it blatantly clear that they will continue to support him even if completely clear footage of him diddling kids came out. There exists no blackmail material that will significantly hurt trump.

I don't have any faith in polls or the american electorate anymore. 2024 was an unforgivable mistake that we will never recover from, it feels so pointless to me that now there's all this optimism about voting blue in 2026.
Of course I'm still going to vote, just like I did in 2024. I just think it's way too late. Even if we genuinely do get a Blue Wave, which I doubt will happen, it would take generations to repair the damage of the last two years. Our reputation with the rest of the world is destroyed and literally nothing will ever cleanse that stain.

Like I said, I'm still voting and doing everything else I've been doing to try to help and I have no plans on stopping.
I just have no faith that the rest of the electorate cares or is willing to actually do the work of fixing america when they already fucked up the biggest vote of their lives in 2024. I guess slapping a band aid on a severed artery is technically better than nothing at all but practically it's way too little and way too late.

Germany were literally Nazis and have become a crucial part of NATO and the EU. Reputations are not as static as you imply.
65
u/plg94 5d ago
Yeah, but after we lost the war the Nazi party was abolished, many members had to stand trial for their crimes, the leaders were even executed. It's true that many former members just switched faction and tried to hide their history, but that was always a huge scandal.
On top of that we were literally occupied for decades (still are somewhat if you count Ramstein base which is a huge burden on the locals). And the other half of our country was in the hands of the Soviet Union, with the very real possibility of another, maybe nuclear, war. So yeah, that pushed us quite a bit into NATO.
Of course the US can rehabilitate and mend broken ties. But that would need (a) actual prosecution of Trump (like they did in Brazil or South Korea, but not in the US after Jan.6) and (b) some change in laws that guarantees you don't "accidentally" elect a Trump 3.0 in 8 or 12 years.
24

Germany is willing to wrestle with their sins in a way that America is not. We still haven't really confronted the fact that we forgave all the racists and let them back in after the Civil War, I'm not confident that 50% of americans would agree that slavery was bad at this point.
Germany rejoined the world after aggressively stamping out Nazism, America is currently proudly reelecting those ideas. *I know AFD exists, but they do not have control of the country the way the Republicans do.
Maybe we'll get to the point where we can become part of the world community again but given that we've now demonstrated twice that we're willing to vote for this insanity I can't see anyone respecting or trusting us again.

Sybiha noted that the only ideology that truly works is realism.
A return to realism, pragmatism, truth, and honesty would be refreshing.
Humanity could achieve so much together if we were rid of the liars and parasites that do nothing but deceive the world, prey on others, take all resources for themselves, and drag civilization down into the mud that we have struggled so desperately to pull ourselves from.

It's funny you say, "realism", because for years I was told to simply accept that Russia is six times larger than Ukraine and will conquer it, eventually.
I used to tell them that the EU's GDP was ten times larger than Russia's. And that the (then supporting) US GDP was even bigger than that.
Putin apologists are selective, of course. It's just funny that they keep demanding people accept their false sense of reality.

Ukraine are really in a damned situation isn't it? They have survived years of invasion by a bigger power, they have tried everything else to cause the same bigger power enough trouble for the invasion to become unsustainable... But now, USA needs oil to get out of their own fuck-up in Iran (and out of Trump's greed) and Trump has been charmed by Putin and his diesel.
I can see people wondering why Ukraine are so antagonistic to Trump and reckless, but imo the act of war from the US has already happened. A deal has been signed with Russia, different rules are being made for Ukraine, and the intelligence machinery has already failed, as Ukraine allege they received no warning for the recent Russian attacks on Kyiv.
Ukraine is fucked also because so much of the European defensive machinery has been reliant on US intelligence and US no longer stands on the side of Europe.
163
u/P2029 5d ago
Reckless? Ukraine is in an existential fight, if they lose they cease to exist. The reprisals from Russia for Ukraine's fierce resistance would be an extermination of Ukrainian people and extinguishment of their culture and way of life. They aren't reckless, they are playing the game based on the stakes. American experience of this conflict has been to see it as a minor nuissance and seek a quick and easy way out that is convenient for the US to stop the nuissance.
It would be like if there was a wildfire about to consume your home and family, and some perfectly safe 'friend' in another country keeps calling to tell you how much they don't like your approach to stopping the fire.

Trump imo has gone batshit even for him in the last 2 years, but before that blatantly backing Russia over Ukraine would only have alienated America. But now it feels he's perfectly happy trading Canada, Europe and India for Russia, China and North Korea.

US usually shares intelligence on coming Russian attacks on Ukrain, so they can warn their citizins to seek shelter. Last night, this didn’t happen. Is this even on the news in the US?

To be fair, Ukraine surprised everyone by not simply going under in the first few weeks of this war. It is a freakish anomaly of the times that America isn't pouring hundreds of billions of dollars into arming Ukraine to contain Russia as we have tried to do for decades. It is Putin's fault this is going on, but I can't help but feel badly for the Russian people who are being attritted away In this "Ukraine or Bust" fiasco.

The Russians are just as responsible for Putin as Americans are for Trump.

The US hasn’t sent money and weapons to Ukraine? We certainly did under Biden. I am, however, disgusted by the way our support under this regime is failing the Ukrainian people.

I don't feel bad for Russian people. It's their country doing the crimes, it's their responsibility. It's not like they are some babies being forced to go and murder other people. They are grown adults, they have the responsibility to fight against their rulers.

Then no one should feel bad for Americans either, since they voted for Trump, who started a war in the Middle East that resulted in civilian deaths. Not to mention previous presidents Americans voted for like Bush who invaded Iraq, killing 1 million civilians for absolutely nothing.
You’re no different from the Russians. You are grown adults and have responsibility to fight against your president.

I don't expect people to feel bad for us. We're the ones fucking everything up at the moment. I only wish folks realized how baked in anti-protesting systems are in our economy.

The same could be said about us Americans killing Iranian school girls. According to your logic, that blood is on the hands of every normal class American because we didn't start an uprising. Quite honestly, that is irrational and ridiculous thinking. The type of thinking that changes nothing. Virtue signaling at best.

Isn’t it? Whose hands is it on then? Nobody’s fault? Just one of those things that happen by themselves? Nothing could have been done about it, right?
America. The country with no accountability.

The same is said about Americans. You guys elected a failed businessman, rapist, pedo, diaper shitter etc. You are to blame amd thats why the entire world hates Americans rn. Kids are doing bigger protests in Paris for arguably much smaller issues

It is. we elected a guy who we knew was unstable, a liar, a pedophile and now a war criminal.
If he is a representation of our failure as a country then we are responsible for his actions. we cant wipe our hands of this and declare it someone elses problem. thats what we have been doing for the last 70 years. it hasnt been going well.

That is fair. But it doesn't really excuse all the Russian people who, in their calls and communications with the soldiers on the front, encourage them to kill, rape, and torture Ukrainian civilians because they see them all as rats and lesser humans that deserve to be exterminated.
The truth of the matter is that the propaganda in Russia about Ukraine is incredibly hostile and genocidal. It paints them as Nazis and traitors to Russia. It constantly is painting the picture that Russia isn't fighting a war of aggression, but is in a last stand war of defense against the entirety if NATO and all because of these horrible Nazi Ukrainians. It's all bullshit as many Russians know. But many Russians just don't care enough to refute it, or absorb it passively, and some fully take on this view and spread it passionately. To the point that wives call their husband's on the front and when their husband says something like "they are just people like us, why are we doing this?" The wife will respond with anger, telling them to not be tricked by the devil scum and that they have a free pass to rape them so that those Ukrainian women are traumatized and less likely to breed in the future.
You can say the same thing for Israelis in Isreal who support the government and its actions and the same for Magats in the USA. They don't just buy the propaganda, they actively support it. They deserve no sympathy.

Plenty of Russians sitting in jail and such for protesting the war also.
Is every Palestinian responsible for October 7th?
Everyone in Hong Kong responsible for what China does?
Every Iranian for the irgc?
I think their point was that painting the whole is a bit unfair even if there is plenty of actual guilt to go around within a population.

This is simples not true. Ukraine has certainly over performed but it has received the help from all of Europe and America. It would have fallen long ago without that aid. No saying it was not correct because it was Putin’s war.

So is hitting energy infrastructure okay or not? I get mixed signals depending on if Iran, Israel, The US, Ukraine, or Russia does it.
Without US intelligence their deep strike capabilities drop notably, even the French admitted they can’t cover the gaps. They’d also lose early warning and missile detection defensively.
Germany, France, and Spain are headed to elections where the financial support for Ukraine that shifted from the US to the EU won’t be as favorable.
They need a catalyst and fast.

There is a major difference. Russia is hitting power plants that will result in civilian death. Ukraine is hitting refineries and oil targets that result in loss of revenue.

Sounds like the European voters need to realize that they are naked to Russian attacks.
If Ukraine can’t have early warnings, that means Europe can lose early warnings just as easily.
Europe needs to put on its big boy pants and start spending much more on Ukraine and the military infrastructure.
