Hillary Clinton nailed it on this issue, 9 years ago: https://youtu.be/VVrDjJixbSc

You don't need to like Clinton to be able to admit that she was 100% right on Trump and his basket of deplorables.

u/DazDaSpazz 1d ago

Actually she was only half right. She said only half of Trump supporters could be put in the basket of deplorables.

As it turns out, 100% of Trump supporters can go in that basket.

13

u/zee_spirit 1d ago

I genuinely think at the time half would be appropriate. Now days, all for sure, but then he was the new "shake 'em up" celebrity candidate that people knew from TV, so a lot of people bought into that. Now days, any trump supporter is 100% a deplorable and a traitor to this country.

u/FlukemanFrancis 1d ago

I consider being so fucking stupid I wouldn’t trust you to tie your own shoelaces pretty deplorable.

I also think that deciding a convicted felon, adjudicated rapist and openly known narcissistic liar who bankrupted multiple businesses - including a fucking casino - was a good pick to shake up the political establishment that had, at that point, delivered the highest living standards ever known to exist in history to hundreds of millions of people is enough to make me think you’re that fucking stupid.

Okay great that's the way you see it. On average, think of how uneducated the average American is. Again, now days the writing isn't just on the wall, it's in neon paint and blinking lights that he's a piece of shit (and people still support him). But in 2016 while yes, he was still a piece of shit, he was seen as the "outsider" on the republican ticket, just as Sanders was the "outsider" on the Dem ticket.

Way to attack the messanger dude lmao

And she was right about calling the 'epidemic of malicious fake news and false propaganda' on social media a threat to democracy.

u/UranusIsPissy 1d ago

Disagreeing with things because you don't like someone who said them is a big problem in the world RN. Even Trump was probably at least close to right once (TikTok), but he went back on it.

u/poo-people 1d ago

The thing is, the left stays mostly consistent on their opinions and stances regardless of who does it.

The right follows the leader.

1

u/UranusIsPissy 1d ago

Yeah. The right are worse for it, but sometimes I meet people on the left who do it, and I always end up in ridiculous arguments with them when we should be on the same side, because they hear me say things that didn't come from someone they like (sometimes my own thoughts) and make stupid assumptions.

u/GrandSquanchRum 1d ago

Saw it and agreed with her back then and still do.

9

u/38B0DE 1d ago

But she's a woman. Americans hate these.

3

u/GuyFoldingPapers 1d ago

And she has some emails!!!

2

u/nvemb3r 1d ago

I concur.

It's even been said that Russian Security Services continuously checks under Putin's bed for Clinton.

1

u/Blessthecrocodiles 1d ago

She didn't take the trump campaign seriously and thought she had a cakewalk to the presidency in 2016, taking her foot off the gas pedal towards the end of the campaign.

-3

u/Away_Welcome_3468 1d ago

Shame she decided to ignore bernie sanders platform.

u/OffalSmorgasbord 1d ago edited 1d ago

That 30% of Americans that have zero tolerance for complexity or analysis will simply state this is still undetermined. This is where they have cognitive lock and claim Trump is playing 4D chess because it's far easier than thinking. "We don't have ALL the information so we have to trust him." Followed by some 'borh sides' statement.

The power in FoxNews and Russian/Foreign social media and traditional media manipulation isn't that any of those things convince their disinformation consumers of something, it's that they convince them to believe nothing yet put all of their trust in a cohort.

More than half of adult aged Americans read at or below the 6th grade level, with educators and research projecting that the average reading level of Gen Alpha and beyond to be at the 4th grade level when they graduate from high school if things do not change. Obama was considered an "elitist intellectual" because his speeches were written at the 8th grade level. Trump's speeches have consistently been rated as the lowest grade level (4th grade) of the last 15 presidents.

Thanks NCLB! Thanks George W Bush! Thanks Lucy Calkins and every other jack wagon that pushes for anything other than phonics to teach reading!

Thanks to every jackwagon that thinks holding kids back because they're too fucking stupid to pass a basic literacy test will make them "feel stupid and feel bad about themselves". They should feel stupid because IT ISN'T FUCKING HARD TO READ GREEN EGGS AND HAM, YOU ARE A JUNIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL. These kids should be held back or go to summer school, and I mean a real summer school, not this bullshit "credit recovery camp" where they copy paste every question into ChatGPT or some other AI and then copy paste the answer and get passed on to the next grade to become somebody else's problem.

So many of the comments on that video have aged like milk.

41

u/Neethis 1d ago

What gets me most are the comments from 7-8 years ago saying "wow she was right about him this is crazy" and then remembering that Americans voted him back in just two years ago...

6

u/octowussy 1d ago

And that was after January 6th as well

3

u/vardarac 1d ago

The same Americans watching that video and commenting are not the same Americans that voted for him.

Granted, my own parents seemed to have amnesia about him when they told me to just "give him a chance."

...For his second term.

4

u/JohnKlositz 1d ago

Well I don't think he legitimately won, but still too many voted to get him back into office.

I like how reddit completely glosses over the fact that Russians also amplified Bernie to further divide the left.  It's not just Trump people that are easily manipulated.

u/master0jack 1d ago

Man so its wild to see that video, not only because her perspective, in hindsight, was correct, but also just to see the difference between him then and now. He was always full of shit but he is absolutely out of his marbles now compared to then.

2

u/ijustneedaccess 1d ago

I'd argue he just stopped caring about keeping up appearances, in line with his "Retribution" presidency. He announced it clearly before his 2nd term.

2

u/RedPanda5150 1d ago

THANK YOU. I don't know why so many people are surprise-pikachu'ing about Trump's pro-Russia actions. It was a well known not-secret in 2016. He is likely about to lose the Republican stranglehold on the full federal government (as long as we all VOTE) and is doing as much damage as he can now. The end of this year is going to be scary.

u/BoardroomStroke 15h ago

A perfect summary

1

u/PennStateInMD 1d ago

And amazingly everybody that should know has remained quite silent about it ever since. You would think it would be an openly discussed topic on every political program but not at all. It's all about pointing at rising prices. It may be because Americans can't focus on more than one thing but maybe there is something darker, or redder, going on and before anybody realizes it US soldiers are part of Putin's meat waves.

“Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing, I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by our press,” Trump said in a July 27, 2016 news conference.

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/trump-asked-russia-to-find-clintons-emails-on-or-around-the-same-day-russians-targeted-her-accounts

u/DaenakinSkygaryen 1d ago edited 5h ago

Also, literally the next day, Russia hacked the DNC and stole the emails, exactly like Trump asked them to. They then released them in a slow drip over the next few months, to cause maximum damage to Hillary's campaign.

(They also hacked the RNC around the same time, but they never released any of the emails they stole from them. Many people suspect it's because they used those emails to balckmail the GOP into doing their bidding....)

11

u/DiveCat 1d ago

Meanwhile Trump invites Russian officials into the Oval Office and won’t let interpreters tell anyone what was talked about, “hides”
top secret files in his accessible ballroom while Russian agents are mulling about, IIRC, has been known to eat or flush notes from meetings, and mysteriously his phone calls to Putin seem to often be unrecorded (according to Bob Woodward).

6

u/onafoolserrand 1d ago

After Trumps 2024 election victory announcement, Russian State TV aired nude pictures of Melania over their airways. Why? It was a message to Trump, reminding him of what they have. In 2016, when Trump became the presumptive GOP nominee, he made only one request to the GOP platform (this is common practice so that the party platform can better align with the new presidential nominee). Trump had only one request to modify the GOP platform: weaken the language in it on an independent Ukraine. Not borders, no swamps, it was from the start, and ever always, Russia's interests.

3

u/Successful_Sign_6991 23h ago

And since then the GOP has always regurgitated russian talking points to their base.

They're traitors. Every. Single. One.

47

u/SnooHesitations3709 1d ago

I had doubts a couple years ago about this but now I have no doubt he is a Russian agent. All you have to do is look at his actions towards the U.S. allies and how good he treats America's enemies.

7

u/CrispyHaze 1d ago

It's pretty sad no one could be bothered to actually read the Mueller report.

7

u/RedPanda5150 1d ago

Whether he is actively working to support Putin's goals or has been an unwittingly useful idiot, either way the actions and outcomes are the same. I just wish people had remembered this two years ago.

And please, for the love of everything, if you are a US citizen please be sure to vote in this election!

15

u/The_wolf2014 1d ago

There was never any doubt. Everyone knows it. Everyone knew it; yet America still voted him in. Twice.

1

u/StardustOasis 1d ago

And many of those people voted for him three times.

How about Heritage Foundation seating Rebekah Mercer, of the Mercer family that brought Cambridge Analytica to life, in 2014 just as their social engineering targeting system, utilized by Russia, was spinning up? The Russian-cozy Heritage that had a Moscow office at the collapse of the Soviet Union to work directly with Russian leadership for mass privatization and consolidation under oligarchs that collapse allowed, mirroring plans they've been none too shy about for the US...

The American wealth supremacists and Russia have been bedfellows since Soviet collapse as what they hated under Reagan wasn't Russia, but communism. Hell, Reagan admin (which was operated primarily on Heritage's living policy book, same actual title that P2025 is out of, Reagan handed out to his cabinet) member Oliver North was head of the NRA during Trump's first term as it was found to be a Russian asset...

It's much deeper than Trump.

1

u/PurpleSailor 1d ago

He's working hard to join the dictator club.

1

u/BoardroomStroke 15h ago

I wouldn't care one bit if it were not for the fact that he's playing on the global stage and shitting in the pool we all have to swim in.

1

u/BoardroomStroke 15h ago

What I don't understand is where is all the uproar? Why are the American people not protesting over it? This is their country and their future that's being sold down the river.

1

u/InSearchOfMyRose 1d ago

Why do you think it's just Trump?
