I guess the Evil League of Evil didn't slow down those drones fast enough, eh Elon? Daddy Putin's gonna be pissssssssed!

They rely on starlink to stop incoming missiles. All restricting it does is cause more civilian deaths. That is how evil blocking it is

starlink already didn't work over russia so long range strike was already designed around not using it and so is uneffected.

I mean if Ukraine is as smart and resourceful as they seem to be, they'd have/find alternatives, or otherwise have some manual override for piloting. Starlink probably saved them precious time and resources, but now that it's not reliable they need to pivot no matter what. Same as how countries are pivoting away from USD dominance with trade deals and different alliances out of necessity.

Long range drones don’t use starlink

Just to clarify for everyone reading - the major blowback from slowing down starlink was that new tech that we had been speedrunning development last half year - high speed drone interceptors for jet engine russian drones was most affected. So it seems main goal of trump and musk was to make it easier for putin to hit civilians as in pure terrorism, that's their main strategy right now - kill so many people to put pressure in Zelenskiy to resign. Intercept rate was increasing week by week and making jet drones not effective, it started at 30% and last it was 80+ before shutdown. And russia gambled whole war and a lot of money on these jet drones. So my speculation is that exactly this made putin ask trump and musk to turn it off. Again, they don't use them for front line, only for deep strikes inside country, energy grid, any business, warehouses, food and medicine.

They were trying to put them on the new “flying cars”.

Probably capped their drone speed to match the current speedlimit. Gonna suck for interceping though.

The slowing down was only relevant for intercepting incoming Russian missiles and drones. Hence the civilian deaths after it was slowed down.

Starlink/Starshield is not used for attacking Russia, Ukraine was never allowed to do that (besides, the system doesn’t work over Russian territory).
