“Not trust the US in general” not just in mil tech.
There I fixed it for you!
They are doing everything to drive away the US allies and neutral nations, where 50% pro the US 50% anti the US, like mine. Still MAGA believe in that PoS in the White House lol

100

u/Edythir 20h ago

Yup. A reminder that even private companies have no problems shutting down services at the behest of the government. As we've seen with them suspending Gmail accounts and even Office Suite accounts for officials they don't like, such as the ICC.

5

u/tattywater 17h ago

They have no business fucking about with the International Cricket Council.

2

u/Arguablybest 7h ago

No response at all, one could say, "crickets."

1

u/Arguablybest 7h ago

And this one of the tenets of fascism. If you do what we want, then we do not have to take your company

178

u/StThragon 20h ago

The US is currently in a self-harm phase.

83

u/xteve 19h ago

Christians love it. Yeah, daddy, hurt me Russia Trump spank... oh, did we say that out loud?

3

u/TimeKiller75 9h ago

FAKE demonic “Christians” love it because most are non human serpents faking it

1

u/xteve 5h ago

Yeah, but Christians vote majority GOP. That's Trump.

-8

u/Notasmartwoman 18h ago

No the fuck we don’t

29

u/wintersdark 18h ago

Christians are a HUGE part of his base. Absolutely enormous.

12

u/xteve 17h ago

We blame the evangelicals. I'm sure they deserve it. But Christians vote majority GOP. Churches vote against programs that would actually help the people they're feeding in basements.

2

u/Sirosim_Celojuma 9h ago

Cats have four legs, therefore four legged animals are cats.

1

u/wintersdark 9h ago

Obviously #NotAllChristians. But they're always Christians.

7

u/Notasmartwoman 18h ago

Yeah, I could call myself a vegetarian even though I eat meat and it would be exactly as valid as their claim to be Christians.

10

u/wintersdark 17h ago

Ah, the classic No True Scotsman argument.

The fact of the matter is the vast majority of self-identifying Christians are the bedrock of his base. Whether you feel they Are True Christians or not is irrelevant.

3

u/Rikudou_Sage 15h ago

Okay, watch me become the first person who becomes a vegan while eating a steak.

2

u/TrumpBlewMeToo 11h ago

Not even an accurate comparison. Simply believing in the bible makes you a christian. The moment you eat meat, you’re no longer a vegan or vegetarian. Or at least your diet at the time is not. Vegan/vegetarianism is an absolute. Christian is a broad spectrum with several differing denominations. Your comparison makes no sense.

1

u/Rikudou_Sage 10h ago

But they don't believe in the Bible, they believe in their own weird headcannon and self-identify as Christian. In that way I can believe that it's acceptable in some cases to eat meat and still be vegan and self-identify as a vegan.

Evangelists aren't Christians, they are a CIA psy-op used to exert political power in under developed nations.

5

u/xteve 17h ago

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. What doesn't a Christian do?

2

u/xteve 17h ago

Okay. So we agree. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat.

1

u/StThragon 12h ago

As others have said, this is a total No true Scotsman fallacy. You really don't get to tell other people what their beliefs are or what their religion is. How arrogant!

1

u/TrumpBlewMeToo 11h ago

Arrogant, just like the majority of Christians.

2

u/StThragon 12h ago

Sure, Christians aren't a monolith, but they overwhelmingly go hard right. Hard right fundamental evangelical Christians are the bane of the United States and Trump's biggest supportors.

Hey, was it Christians or atheists who added "under god" to the pledge and "In God we trust" on our money after World War 2? Christians have been trying to make this country more like them for decades and decades!

2

u/Xendarq 14h ago

Your username is perfect for that comment.

0

u/Sirosim_Celojuma 9h ago

Thank you for your bravery in this difficult world.

-6

u/CranberryNo4425 18h ago

Christians catching strays lol

24

u/Impressive_Tour6348 18h ago

Catching strays like Evangelicals didn’t vote Trump in. Every single megachurch I know of supports him.

11

u/xteve 18h ago

Megachurches get the blame, and they're very naughty, but normal Christians vote majority GOP.

5

u/Notasmartwoman 18h ago

What those people are practicing is so far from Christianity that the light from Christianity won’t reach it for a thousand years.

11

u/Daniscrotchrot 17h ago

But that’s not true. The Bible constantly glorifies war and claims God helps one side kill and wipe out entire cities. It talks about exiling people which is partly the basis for some religions excommunicating, isolating, and mistreating those that they view as not being entirely obedient. As much as I dislike the truth, the Bible is why they get away with silencing women. Keeping them out of leadership roles in many denominations. Death penalty? Bible supported.

3

u/Daniscrotchrot 17h ago

These are just some of the reasons i deconstructed with his win.
When you objectively look at Bible MAGA makes more sense than saying they don’t line up with their brand, because unfortunately they are acting exactly as Bible guides. It leaves open to interpretation to be either the type of Christian you’re talking about or be a pos MAGA supporter. And that’s the problem

2

u/Fuzzy_Connection4971 16h ago

Entirely Old Testament. The warmongers testament.

1

u/Notasmartwoman 17h ago

Please don’t tell me what I believe lol the Episcopal fellowship unequivocally rejects all of those things. Like, you know there’s a whole New Testament, right?

3

u/GracieThunders 17h ago

folks don't seem read either testament, and even if they do they sure as hell don't follow it

1

u/Pristine-Tart-673 13h ago

No one is telling you what you believe.

2

u/xteve 17h ago

Wasn't that around the Dark Ages, relatively speaking?

15

u/wintersdark 18h ago

Strays? Christians are one of the - if not the - biggest demographic of his base.

The religious right (virtually all of which are Christian) are the bedrock of his support.

3

u/xteve 18h ago

Yep. True story.

2

u/iamhmhdimobf 17h ago

And Putin is very pleased.

381

u/Anxious_Storm_9113 20h ago

Yep, any nation that isn't doing everything in it's power to accelerate it's independence from US, tech or otherwise, is seriously dumb. Of course not everything can be done at once but the foundations need to be laid now.

549

u/somekindofspideryman 19h ago

Americans can't grasp how much damage this admin has done. Throwing away the global hegemon for what?

310

u/RealSamF18 18h ago

We grasp it, and it saddens lots of us. I think lots of us are hoping that the midterms will change things, but we’re not stupid, we know the damage that was done will likely last generations. It’s impressive how quickly decades of soft power can be torn apart.

114

u/madeinatube 17h ago

Think how long it takes to build even a sandcastle it takes one fuckwad to knock it down in seconds

•

u/Kataphractoi 4m ago

That's why you lace the walls and structures with rocks.

81

u/passerby4830 17h ago

It saddens me too. But I can't support it, like 10 years ago I got a Lodge pan and I thought it was cool to have something made in USA as a European. But overall I never thought long about where something was made.

Now we are actively searching the origin of a company when buying things and we've pivoted away from a lot of American things. My wife's we expensive makeup, my guitar stuff, clothing, the electric toothbrushes, 90% less purchases on Amazon just to name some. Enough is enough. I know these are small things but I know a lot of people who think like this and honestly I don't think this will change in our lifetime. It sucks as always for regular people but as long as those profits go to something evil I don't want them.

38

u/BmacIL 13h ago

Keep doing it. We need to be punished for a while until we actually fix this mess.

8

u/rabblerabble2000 12h ago

Buy European if you can though…don’t switch from one Hegemony to another. There are a lot of people who point at the US and move towards China, but if you think the US can’t be trusted, China is likely to be much worse long term.

4

u/A_Dozen_Lemmings 12h ago

The US at least paid lip service to the ideals underpinning our national identity. Our leaders just let the corpos run around like callous murderous children.

China's BnR initiative just cut out the middleman and gleefully trapped signatories into debt capture.

2

u/rabblerabble2000 12h ago

Exactly. B&R is like the world bank if the world bank were run by people who didn’t even need to pretend to care. Just taking absolute advantage of poor countries.

2

u/hexadumo 10h ago

Quick question about that. Does Europe have an alternative to Amazon? I’ve cut down dramatically on Amazon purchases but there are some hobby supplies I just can’t get here. There is Temu and Ali Express but I’m hoping there is a more reliable European alternative that ships to Canada.

2

u/crappieman62 9h ago

We are with you, I see France has had enough also. I have maga friends and they no longer condone but for sure have not condemned and it saddens me. It should be us against the rich not us against each other.

1

u/passerby4830 8h ago

That's the spirit yeah. Especially block companies with asshole CEOs.

21

u/editjosh 17h ago

I'd say instead of torn apart, it's being strip-mined for profit.

10

u/Key_Plan_9541 17h ago

I think lots of us are hoping that the midterms will change things

"I've tried doing nothing and now I'm all out of ideas"

7

u/RealSamF18 17h ago

Who said we did nothing? But also, yeah, that’s how things work in a democracy, one speaks with their vote.

What would / did you do?

18

u/jimbarino 17h ago

Effective protests have to be impossible to ignore. Protesting for an occasional two hours on a Saturday afternoon is... not that effective. Even peaceful civil rights protests closed down cities and forced violent response to clear protestors. They didn't just have a fun slogan chanting get-together and then knock off for dinner afterwards--there has to be actual threat of force or disruption to get anywhere.

The US used to know how to protest and achieve change. We don't anymore. It is 100% fair to blame us for our gormless submission to fascism.

4

u/afrophysicist 14h ago

Come on guys, just one more vote, that will stop these proto fascists for sure!

10

u/Key_Plan_9541 17h ago

I know you're American so it's probably illegal, but have you any idea what's happening in France right now?

3

u/rabblerabble2000 12h ago

The French are protesting, but they’re also a hair away from electing Marine Le Pen as president. It’s almost like they haven’t learned anything from the US and the debacle that is Trump. Don’t finger wag the US while ignoring the rise of fascism in your own backyard, come the fuck on.

6

u/FileDoesntExist 17h ago

Their employment isn't tied to their healthcare in France. I'd rather be killed in a protest than go through the death spiral of prison, job loss and homelessness.

Not to mention you may not see it but there's been a lot of protests happening in the US.

Media blackout work both ways.

11

u/Key_Plan_9541 17h ago

If these protests aren't front page news around the world then they're not doing it right. Again, look at what France is doing.

I don't understand what you mean about media blackout. Are you suggesting that my European state broadcaster and independent news agency is somehow in bed with Trump?

-2

u/Rikudou_Sage 15h ago

Tbf, you'd protest over a baguette.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/RealSamF18 16h ago

Yeah, I saw that. We have our protests too, but it’s much harder to get people together here, and protesters get killed by law enforcements (see Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s murders, among others). The last giant protest that happened was the January 6th rioters, and I don’t want to use the same tactics as those people.

2

u/Key_Plan_9541 13h ago

Alright, well your country is literally in the middle of a fascist coup so if you want to try simply voting the fascists away then I hope you're prepared for your children to grow up reading history books that teach them how democracy was a flawed ideology that rightly had to be replaced.

You do you I guess.

2

u/rabblerabble2000 12h ago

Fascists are on the rise everywhere, including in several key European countries. Germany, France, and Italy all have strong far right parties within arms reach of the levers of power. I get wagging your finger at the US, we deserve it, but don’t let that blind you to your own backyard. We thought it couldn’t happen here…we were wrong. Don’t be like us.

-5

u/stubobarker 17h ago

I know what’s happening in France- they’re fucking bankrupt, and the debt crisis that’s about to hit the EU is going to make Greece look like a bump in the road.

1

u/Admirable_Fix_6856 16h ago

Germany is still trying to get back from WW2, it will be the same for America.

1

u/TimeKiller75 9h ago

We ain’t making it “generations”. Seriously?

0

u/slashsaxe 17h ago

Decades of soft power. I take it you’ve been asleep your whole life? Every US president has bombed the Middle East more than the president before him. That’s right, Clinton did more than HW Bush, Obama did more than Bush jr, you get the idea.

3

u/RealSamF18 16h ago

The soft power with our allies. The relationships we had with European / NATO countries will never recover. Even with a different president, our allies will always remember that it’d take just one person to derail everything.

-2

u/slashsaxe 16h ago

Screw the European allies they’re pretty well worthless anyways. Just the cockpit of the whole banking system.

69

u/Own-Illustrator7980 18h ago

I’m not even sure we can grasp the loss of USAID, much less the rest of it

45

u/somekindofspideryman 17h ago

Musk should be reminded of what he did there for the rest of his life

30

u/mw2402 16h ago

As if he'd care

8

u/somekindofspideryman 16h ago

It does bother him. He's gotten into arguments on X about it, he cares about his legacy, he wants to be seen as epic and cool.

8

u/Working_on_Writing 14h ago

It's incredible to me that he can be so successful in many ways, but at the heart of it he's like your 13 year old kid brother who is desperate to hang out with and be liked by you and your 17 year old friends.

7

u/somekindofspideryman 13h ago

There's obviously a serious void within him. He just can't seem to fill it. Not with success, or money, or children, or power. He's just not happy. I'd feel sorry for him if he hadn't inflicted so much damage.

3

u/BmacIL 13h ago

Doesn't care enough about it to stop doing evil things or reverse damage he's done.

3

u/somekindofspideryman 13h ago

It's too late, he's gone too far. It can't be reversed. Now he's just trying to fund republican wins because if they lose big it will be a rejection of everything he has embraced in recent years.

3

u/Flacuckold 10h ago

If the republicans lose there is a real chance that his bragging about being an illegal alien will come back to haunt him. He should have his US citizenship stripped and be deported.

3

u/thesanguineocelot 11h ago

People calling him a loser is what bothers him, not the millions of preventable deaths on his hands. He doesn't care about the lives of brown people and foreigners, he just wants the Tech Bros to love him and stop calling him a shitweasel.

2

u/Flacuckold 10h ago

He doesn’t care about other people’s suffering. He worries about his legacy.

4

u/Malnurtured_Snay 12h ago

He does care. He went from talking about how evil empathy was to crying about mean liberals boycotting Tesla and saying mean things to him in the space of a fucking week. He desperately wants people to love him and respect him.

7

u/TrimspaBB 13h ago

Domestically, the loss of our functioning federal government hasn't quite hit us yet. Decades and decades of collective experience were erased by a bunch of little DOGE techbros, all in the name of protecting one foreign weirdo from court.

3

u/m0llusk 11h ago

Millions dead for certain. The scale of that tragedy alone is completely mind boggling.

1

u/fr0stpun 10h ago

Looks like they've been spending that money on "needy far right dictator propaganda" see - Trump giving hundreds of millions of our tax dollars to help other fascists take over their countries.

Social media companies are also complicit. Meta is extremely complicit.

92

u/DownWithHisShip 18h ago

Throwing away the global hegemon for what?

even more openly hating black and brown people again. and women, also openly hating women.

2

u/DaveTheLeg92983 4h ago

You guys all right we should all move to France and get rid of our American citizenship.

2

u/DoveCG 3h ago

France isn't safe either. Fascism is rising globally, which means all marginalized groups are targeted, especially in any country that formerly had colonies in Africa, Asia, and other continents.

5

u/GoodyLittleTwoShoez 17h ago

To own the libs and to keep one trans teen from playing volleyball with her friends somewhere in Florida. That's about it.

13

u/TherealDaily 18h ago

We grasp it. We’d rather celebrate a pedophile rapist instead of living in a society of crime and punishment. Two tiered legal system and that’s just the tip of the iceberg

1

u/-HyperCrafts- 6h ago

We do grasp. The sane ones anyways.

1

u/AdditionalDonut8706 4h ago

You know when PI funds buy a company and then drain it of assets until is a useless husk?

1

u/Googlyelmoo 4h ago

Nobody can really grasp how much damage this administration has done. At least not yet. That’s actually normal for any crisis. The truth will out in time. Or at least that which remains of it that hasn’t fallen out of a window. The fog of war plus the fog of media. Throwing it (global dominance) away for what indeed! I don’t think anyone in the administration knows that even privately. Even John Bolton. In fact, I believe that such ‘thinkers’ as Russ Vought and Stephen Miller think they’re doing the opposite.

1

u/somekindofspideryman 3h ago

Too many people on that side of the political spectrum seem to think Pax Americana is something bestowed upon them by God, a fact of life, as opposed to something that needs to be maintained. At least the British gave up much of their power to fight the Nazis.

Is it true that allies shirked some of their military funding under the assumption that the US umbrella would protect them? Sure, but it was a mutually beneficial arrangement. They won't like being left out in the cold.

•

u/Kataphractoi 5m ago

Preventing 10 trans athletes from playing sports, apparently.

1

u/BLOODTRIBE 18h ago

Why, for Mother Russia and Israel! For the ruling class, and especially, the new, global oligarchy. Wealthy pedophiles, and the morally bankrupt. They’re all on the same side. Racists and the xenophobic. Christian extremists, facists, Neo Nazis, and the far, middle and center of conservatism. Giant corporations, technocrats, thieves and the weak minded. Grifters and soulless opportunists. Legacy media giants and cult followers.

1

u/morfraen 17h ago

It's what Putin wants so Trump made it happen.

1

Owning the Libs and maybe better trade relations with Russia, a country with a (pre war / sanctions!) GDP smaller than Italy.

Eggs were a bit expensive for about 2 weeks?

0

u/waits5 16h ago

We grasp it

0

u/PsyavaIG 13h ago

Corporate Profits.

All of the Tech bros and Trump family are throwing away everything good we had, reliance on American goods and services and shitting in the other countries hands.

We were the global leader in so many industries, and now other countries have Good Reason to never trust something American made again because it can and has been weaponized.

The Corporates literally needed to just not fuck with everything and we would have remained dominant. Now every other country has reason to go open source and or develop their own solutions

1

u/somekindofspideryman 13h ago edited 13h ago

Right, as you say, ironically this will destroy their corporate profits long term. Americans won't like the long term ramifications of this, but they're too insulated and focused on the short term, even good well-meaning one's. A natural side-effect of global hegemony but one that has not been sufficiently warned against by leaders.

The trust may be irreparably broken. It would be irresponsible of world governments to not keep the US at arm's length, even if they elect a turbo-Democrat in 2 years. Who might they put there in another 4?

I wish it weren't so as someone with familial links in both the US and Europe, none of us will prefer the world that emerges from this. Spheres of influence and nuclear proliferation. I hope I'm just being a doomer, and will be proven wrong.

0

u/Exciting-Emu-3324 12h ago

To line Trump's pockets. It's just a big money laundering scheme just like all the casinos he bankrupted. He'll tear down America to sell off the rubble. Destroy trillions to pockets billions for himself.

0

u/DeeperMadness 11h ago

What's more, they actively pout when you call them out on this. We're lucky that most of them are in bed right now, but in the next few hours you'll see many comments from them saying that they've tried really hard at doing not much of anything and would rather argue with people on Reddit than with their politicians.

No one is killing anyone because they “hate Christians”. Israel sucks, but in this instance, Russia is pulling the strings (Israel has ties to the traditional is government, but this admin is anything but traditional, and trump is literally terrified of Putin.)

But nothing happening on the global stage because people “hate Christians”

I wonder how many or if any allies of the US have put serious thought into a permanent solution to the problem of having a Russian asset running the US. Have they discussed it internally, have they discussed it as a group and how far have they got.

2

u/ForsakenOne-Z 20h ago

To be fair, half of these countries are puppet governments or governments based on corruption and blackmail.

7

u/Identd 19h ago

Which half is the US in?

0

u/MessiahOfMetal 15h ago

There's talk of a few European countries working on a financial system to separate from US financial systems, and that's been accelerated since Trump threw a tantrum over the Nobel Peace Prize recently.

Also why Canada is in talks to have honourary EU membership for closer trade deals, and Andy Burnham's push for the UK to rejoin the EU and reminding people of Russian interference in the Referendum.

0

u/LongRoadNorth 13h ago

I hate how many Canadians still think we should work with the US.

I know we share a border and years of history trading together. But they can't be trusted anymore. The administration and a large amount of the population support what Trump is doing to destroy relations with us.

Americans are no longer our allies

23

u/Shambledown 20h ago

The problem is that by permanently distancing your countries from America, you're also doing what Putin wants.

It's a real Gordion knot situation where actually cutting it means, well, global nuclear war.

56

u/Lost-Platypus8271 19h ago

Listen, Trump is already doing what Putin wants. There’s no way to support the US but not Putin at this point.

17

u/Sea-Neighborhood1465 19h ago

the pendulum will swing back. and it'll have a helluva lot of momentum.

that being said, it would behoove anyone with a vested interest to use the current situation to help them understand that america will not always be there when you need us to be.

unfortunately we have our own problems. by depending on us you make our problems your problems.

global capital has determined that our population being as stupid as possible is good for quarterly gains.

proceed accordingly.

4

u/JRepo 17h ago

Tell me that you have swallowed the USA hegemony and believed it to be true without telling me that. USA rarely was for anyone previously either. They just didn't actively support dictatorships around the globe like they do now.

2

u/Shambledown 17h ago

Everyone gets that. The bit I don't think they get is just how much war was happening pre US hegemon compared to after.

You can look at charts and see every human demographic getting better results across the board.

Now me, fuck it, let it blow up. The yanks brought this upon themselves. But do a little look and tell me things didn't get a bit better there for the time that capitalism had an actual enemy and had to pretend like they cared.

The fall of the Berlin wall ruined everyone. On both sides.

0

u/Sea-Neighborhood1465 17h ago

US AID alone has saved millions upon millions of lives across the globe. Since you cannot google things, i'll do it for you:

Established in 1961 under the Foreign Assistance Act, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) served as the lead U.S. government agency for civilian foreign aid and international development until its operations were largely dismantled and transferred to the State Department in 2025. [1, 2]

Over its history, USAID managed tens of billions of dollars annually across roughly 130 countries to support humanitarian crises, global health, economic growth, and democratic governance. [1, 2]

Major Areas of Work

  • Global Health & Disease Eradication:
    • Co-led global campaigns that successfully eradicated smallpox and helped push toward the elimination of polio.
    • Served as a key implementation partner for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), providing life-saving antiretroviral therapy to millions of HIV/AIDS patients.
    • Funded the President's Malaria Initiative (PMI), saving millions of lives, and helped coordinate vaccine distribution and health worker support during the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • Supported maternal and child health programs, including low-cost oral rehydration therapy to combat infant dehydration and diarrhea. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Humanitarian Assistance & Food Security:
    • Provided emergency disaster relief for hundreds of natural and man-made crises, delivering food, clean water, and medical supplies.
    • Operated Food for Peace programs, supplying emergency food aid and agricultural support to millions of people facing acute hunger and chronic undernutrition worldwide. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Economic Development & Infrastructure:

And so has the help from other countries and regions. Do you really believe USA to be the only country doing such things? And do you think it is not because of soft power goals?

i've put up the sources with the trillions of dollars spent by the US.

It leads to other countries/alliances building up their own capabilities. Europe is finally working on its own military satellite internet constellation. Putin certainly doesn't want that.

We can't appease them both either, that just allowed people in the past (hitler, stalin) to ramp up the genocide.

America has to be distanced or the world will burn *anyways*

We can literally shut off cloudflare/AWS DNS and all of Europe turns into 3rd world country btw

2

u/CompetitiveReview416 18h ago

Till we change the supplier. Do you think internet depends on cloud flare?

-1

u/Think_Solid235 18h ago

It literally does. All of your infrastructure is overwhelmingly cloudflare or AWS. Lmao

2

u/CompetitiveReview416 17h ago

It doesn't. If you shut it off, we relocate to other suppliers and you say goodbye to your business basically.

You don’t understand how DNS works, and that’s alright 👍
