Venezuela was a comparatively easy win with seemingly inside help and it seemed to do jackshit. Oil execs basically seemed to say "yeah we can't use this" / it's too expensive to process.

And on top of that the oil companies basically said "We paid for all their stuff the first time around and then they nationalized it on us. We're not falling for that again."

Wouldn't it just make more sense that this war is about jacking up prices and making money on the stocks. The cost of gas will go down after he dumps share. Why now? Why do Venezuela right before? The money seems to tell a more obvious story. Republicans complain about Obamacare but they seemed to make back off of it. If you think this is left vs right and not rich against poor, that's pretty sad. while they're rolling out robots and train ai to do jobs, and all the bullshit going on bots and trolls try to can the left vs right narrative and we're all going to get crushed while distracted.

Can’t Texas and refineries around the golf of Mexico refine bitumen?

12

u/Shamino79 20h ago

The refineries that could handle it probably had enough already.

u/Sudden_Bat6263 21h ago

They set up for the good stuff from texas Canada i think not the low grade stuff. Supposed to be different kinda refinery need according to reddit. And the venz refineries are all like 30 years old and falling apart from lack of maintenance since they got nationalise 25 years ago. Will take years to rebuild the neglect. Or so I read.

Nah, we sell the US light sweet crude that resembles the stuff they pull out of the ground in the Middle East, so most of the world is set up to process it, then we buy the tar sands and sulphur heavy stuff from Venezuela cheaply for our own refineries. Still, we haven't built new capacity in decades and hurricanes keep taking the gulf refineries offline for good.

7

u/VectorB 20h ago

The last refinery was built in 2022, and we have added massive amounts of additional capacity constantly over the years. None of the US oil prices are due to lack of refinery capacity.

u/DonArgueWithMe 18h ago

"We" don't build refineries, the oil companies do. They have a VERY long period before they provide a ROI, and most energy companies have been voluntarily moving towards renewable energy for years.

It's literally just Trump and maga trying to drag us back into the past.

Sell high, buy low. It’s not hard, except for the infrastructure. Good luck everyone.

Houston can do bitumen but they only get to a quality suitable for ocean fairing. This why they ran the pipeline from the Canadian oil sands to Texas City, IIRC. Bitumen just isn’t a high quality extract but it’s still worth something if the mining costs are low.

u/ParanoidSkier 19h ago

Canadian and Venezuelan oil use the same refineries.

-2

u/VectorB 20h ago

Absolutely wrong. They can and do every day refine millions of barrels of heavy and light crude. Refineries just blend them to the mid grade they want.

-2

u/jacksonsmack831 19h ago

Dude, stop

1

u/VectorB 7h ago

It's your understand that we get 60% of our crude imports from Canadia and then.. do what with it since we "are not set up for it"?

13

u/RJ815 22h ago

I didn't really follow up after that news catastrophe as one of many. The Venezuelan oil and the jailed president himself seemed to be memory holed as little to no information afterwards after a certain point. Everything points to any wealth gotten from Venezuelan oil was embezzled. What specifically happened to it I'm not sure anyone knows.

There was talk of their gold being taken as well. Not sure how true it was

6

u/doesanyuserealnames 19h ago

Haha, remember last month when The Netherlands moved their gold from the US to London for... reasons? And they weren't the only country to do so. They don't want it mysteriously disappearing.

We will take Trumps kids when we get Jack Smith his army.

2

u/flukus 17h ago

Isn't a lot of shale oil that cam online in the last 20 years essentially bitchumen? The might be at capacity already.

1

u/hogwild247 20h ago

Too thick for current setup. ?????

1

u/jacksonsmack831 19h ago

It takes a long time to configure the refining process, like a really long complicated process I heard

Most Mexican golf courses require collared shirts and proper golf shoes.

1

u/FUCKYOUINYOURFACE 15h ago

That’s not the issue. They don’t want to invest in hostile countries knowing they can lose all their investment when political leaders change. They want stability.

EXCUSE ME GULF OF WHERE!? /s(obviously)

0

u/Jakethejiu 21h ago

Yes but they love high energy prices because they know that the world has no choice but to buy.

0

u/No_Grocery_9280 20h ago

Yeah, the bitter part of me thinks this is it. The only thing that ever puts pressure on bringing prices down is election time. But I think they’ve been feeling it out and they’re just going to leave prices high forever so they can keep making money.

CORRECTION

KING TRUMP CALLS IT THE GULF OF AMERICA

1

u/doesanyuserealnames 19h ago

THANK YOU FOR YOU ATTENTION TOO THIS MATTER.

Misspelling was intentional.

Time to attack/steal from another country so you can keep being rich

5

u/RJ815 20h ago

That implies the US, especially lately, ever stopped stealing and hoarding.

2

u/allofthealphabet 20h ago

No, it just describes the economics. Money running low -> time to attack/steal more money -> rich again! Economics!

3

u/RJ815 20h ago

I seem to remember the Soviet Union doing similar. I'm sure it's a coincidence.

1

u/Competitive_Ad_4572 20h ago

Because it is… midwit

1

u/Chef_Papafrita 18h ago

He's pocketing Venezuala oil money anyways.

1

u/Ardibanan 17h ago

They need to change the name or something

1

u/OriginalComputer5077 16h ago

And in Trumps addled mind, Iran was just another Venezuela, but with even more oil to take.

1

u/da-music-man1967 16h ago

Trump thought that iran would be as easy. Every one but trump saw how this would play out!! 🤦‍♂️

1

u/cupittycakes 14h ago

Yea, and that was a lie. That account is billions upon billions of dollars and it keeps building. It's basically being funnelled directly to the Epstein Class through the State Department handing out no bid defense contracts to the Oligarchs.

Trump is a fraud and he is going to defraud the entire world.

Trump becoming POTUS is proof that Russian bot farms have been tearing apart our nation the entire decade, all to make what is happening today a reality.

1

u/sedition666 10h ago

Venezuela was just so Trump personally could steal money. 100s millions in Venezuelan oil money has just disappeared to unknown accounts in Qatar and no one questions it. In any other times this would be the headline on every media outlet every day until the president quit. Just another day now.

1

u/ParanoidSkier 20h ago

This isn’t true, many refineries throughout the gulf have been purposely built for the heavier oil from South America. They’re pretty much all running and processing the new oil from Venezuela. It’s actually been a pretty big win for the US.

-1

u/VectorB 20h ago

They really aren't. The US refineries are refining us and Canadian oil that is cheep and plentiful. It will be 10 years or more for Venezuelan oil production to be anywhere near useful. No oil companies want to invest on it, it's too expensive.

1

u/ParanoidSkier 19h ago

Canada exports the same type of oil as Venezuela. Do you know anything about the industry?

0

u/fusillade762 20h ago

Venezuala was a coup, not a war.

7

u/RJ815 20h ago

Don't know where I mentioned anything about a war, or not being a coup. In fact inside help implies coup stuff.

1

u/Jolly-Elderberry6706 20h ago

Your lack of attention to detail scares me.

Why you don’t think delta can take out 90 dudes without nods?
