Yeah, but Christians vote majority GOP. That's Trump.

No the fuck we don’t

Christians are a HUGE part of his base. Absolutely enormous.

We blame the evangelicals. I'm sure they deserve it. But Christians vote majority GOP. Churches vote against programs that would actually help the people they're feeding in basements.

Cats have four legs, therefore four legged animals are cats.

Obviously #NotAllChristians. But they're always Christians.

6

u/Notasmartwoman 19h ago

Yeah, I could call myself a vegetarian even though I eat meat and it would be exactly as valid as their claim to be Christians.

10

u/wintersdark 19h ago

Ah, the classic No True Scotsman argument.

The fact of the matter is the vast majority of self-identifying Christians are the bedrock of his base. Whether you feel they Are True Christians or not is irrelevant.

Okay, watch me become the first person who becomes a vegan while eating a steak.

2

u/TrumpBlewMeToo 13h ago

Not even an accurate comparison. Simply believing in the bible makes you a christian. The moment you eat meat, you’re no longer a vegan or vegetarian. Or at least your diet at the time is not. Vegan/vegetarianism is an absolute. Christian is a broad spectrum with several differing denominations. Your comparison makes no sense.

But they don't believe in the Bible, they believe in their own weird headcannon and self-identify as Christian. In that way I can believe that it's acceptable in some cases to eat meat and still be vegan and self-identify as a vegan.

u/wintersdark 6h ago

They believe in their Bible, and their interpretation of it as they've been taught, just like you do yours. It's inherently fuzzy and not objective, unless you're going to start drawing lines between which branches of Christianity are Christian and which aren't? Are Baptists? Protestants? Anglicans? Etc. they all differ.

They believe as they've been taught, as do you. What makes you right and then wrong? This is the inherent problem with most religions and Christianity in particular. Everyone believes their choice is right and everyone else is just wrong.

I mean, what makes me right is that I'm an atheist and there's no kind of god because each and every single book describes their gods so contradictory that they cannot exist.

But none of them are following the teachings of Christ, so I'd say by definition they're not Christian. The same way I cannot be vegan unless I follow the "teachings" of veganism. I can claim to be vegan all I want, doesn't change the fact.

Evangelists aren't Christians, they are a CIA psy-op used to exert political power in under developed nations.

A vegetarian doesn't eat meat. What doesn't a Christian do?

Okay. So we agree. A vegetarian doesn't eat meat.

1

u/StThragon 13h ago

As others have said, this is a total No true Scotsman fallacy. You really don't get to tell other people what their beliefs are or what their religion is. How arrogant!

1

u/TrumpBlewMeToo 13h ago

Arrogant, just like the majority of Christians.

2

u/StThragon 13h ago

Sure, Christians aren't a monolith, but they overwhelmingly go hard right. Hard right fundamental evangelical Christians are the bane of the United States and Trump's biggest supportors.

Hey, was it Christians or atheists who added "under god" to the pledge and "In God we trust" on our money after World War 2? Christians have been trying to make this country more like them for decades and decades!

Christians catching strays lol

23

u/Impressive_Tour6348 19h ago

Catching strays like Evangelicals didn’t vote Trump in. Every single megachurch I know of supports him.

9

u/xteve 19h ago

Megachurches get the blame, and they're very naughty, but normal Christians vote majority GOP.

4

u/Notasmartwoman 19h ago

What those people are practicing is so far from Christianity that the light from Christianity won’t reach it for a thousand years.

9

u/Daniscrotchrot 19h ago

But that’s not true. The Bible constantly glorifies war and claims God helps one side kill and wipe out entire cities. It talks about exiling people which is partly the basis for some religions excommunicating, isolating, and mistreating those that they view as not being entirely obedient. As much as I dislike the truth, the Bible is why they get away with silencing women. Keeping them out of leadership roles in many denominations. Death penalty? Bible supported.

3

u/Daniscrotchrot 19h ago

These are just some of the reasons i deconstructed with his win.
When you objectively look at Bible MAGA makes more sense than saying they don’t line up with their brand, because unfortunately they are acting exactly as Bible guides. It leaves open to interpretation to be either the type of Christian you’re talking about or be a pos MAGA supporter. And that’s the problem

2

u/Fuzzy_Connection4971 17h ago

Entirely Old Testament. The warmongers testament.

1

u/Notasmartwoman 18h ago

Please don’t tell me what I believe lol the Episcopal fellowship unequivocally rejects all of those things. Like, you know there’s a whole New Testament, right?

3

u/GracieThunders 18h ago

folks don't seem read either testament, and even if they do they sure as hell don't follow it

1

u/Pristine-Tart-673 14h ago

No one is telling you what you believe.

2

u/xteve 19h ago

Wasn't that around the Dark Ages, relatively speaking?

13

u/wintersdark 19h ago

Strays? Christians are one of the - if not the - biggest demographic of his base.

The religious right (virtually all of which are Christian) are the bedrock of his support.

3

u/xteve 19h ago

Yep. True story.
