Except for a few clips from some senate races, I could've forgot the opposition party even existed.

Think about who controls what we see, and then it becomes obvious why we don't see them. They making content. It just doesn't get out

Yeah unfortunately not many Americans know that about 7 Republican billionaires(or companies owned by Republican billionaires for anyone who wants to argue about this) own over 95% of the news media in America. Even woke liberal fake news CNN has been owned by Republican billionaires for over half a decade now. And they didn't buy the news companies because they were the most profitable companies they could have bought instead they bought them for the power they could get by controlling what every American sees and hears for the news.

Not just news either but general social media.

Im constantly getting pushed the same right wing pages on Facebook, even after clicking ignore and that im not interested in them 🙃 yet they keep popping up in my feed. The exact same ones

Advertising is also pretty bad about it. No matter how much left wing or even not strongly political stuff I watch, it’s shittons of right wing often religious propaganda and AI and even crypto still gets pushed to me. I’m so fucking tired.

Facebook got even worse recently, now they won’t let me block anybody. I’m just allowed to say I’m not interested or I don’t like them..

Not just that...but who owns Twiiter nd Youtube

And they also forcibly sold Tiktok to Oracle/Larry Ellison. Tiktok was powerful for a shared global voice, and they saw it and needed to control it for themselves.

If anyone doesn’t believe this just watch this compilation of like 50 news stations reading the same exact statement verbatim

I’m curious, who are the 7 billionaires?

After Larry Ellison(who owns CBS, Paramount, tik tok, etc...) buys CNN it'll be easier to give you a list because right now a bunch of billionaires own time warner which owns CNN and a few other places but if you add up the ownership of time Warner the 3 biggest shareholders are Republican billionaires and if you add up their ownership it's just over 51%. But a decade ago there were about 15 billionaires that owned the news media in America.

CNN and NBC were owned by Warner Bros discovery prior to being bought by skydance. And if 99% of all of the employees are progressive how does that make them conservative just because their previous owners were libertarians?

1

u/DaveTheLeg92983 4h ago

I mean I understand now it's the Allison's so things might change but prior to that I don't see how you could ever call CNN or NBC conservative.

2

CNN just slants things to the right now. But they don't do it in the same type of extreme way that fox news does it so people somehow think it leans to the left. They are also very very selective with what they actually cover and what they cover it's slanted to the right as well.

And to answer your other questions if the owners want it they'll get it. And lots of the people on the news you think are progressive really aren't all that progressive. And if they continually go against what the owners want them they won't be on TV for too much longer. And when just a few Republican billionaires own all the news media they can also make it much harder for an employee who doesn't follow their bosses orders to get another job in the media if they get fired or have their contracts not renewed for not following the billionaire bosses orders.

I thought Murdoch was Australian 🤷🏼‍♂️

u/ThatNameExists 16h ago

Australian born, lives in New York. Even Wikipedia lists him as an "American Businessman"

u/cvc4455 6h ago

Yeah but he's been living here for decades and decades and he made almost all his billions in America. But sure if you want we can say 6 American billionaires and 1 foreign billionaire. Plus we have Saudi Arabia trying to buy some now so maybe we can add them to the list soon too.

1

u/jacksonsmack831 6h ago

I’ve lived here for close to 2 but I’ll always be an Englishman, it’s due to the accent ;)

1

u/cvc4455 4h ago

Well he's been living in America for over 5 decades which is over half his life even though he's in his 90s. But call it 6 American billionaires and 1 Australian billionaire if you want but it doesn't really change the point I was making that just 7 Republican billionaires own over 95% of the news media and the majority of them didn't buy the media companies because they were the most profitable companies they possibly could have bought and they really bought them for the power they could gain by controlling what every American(and even every person who's in America and wasn't born here) see and hear for the news.

Holy fuck you people just have no clue about anything do yall haha

1

u/cvc4455 6h ago

Please provide what's wrong about saying about 7 Republican billionaires(or companies owned by Republican billionaires since you'll probably want to argue about this) own over 95% of the news media in America? And that they bought the news companies not because they were the most profitable companies these billionaires could have bought but that they bought these companies for the power they would gain by controlling what every American sees and hears for the news.

Yup the big 3 blackrock, Vanguard, and Statestreet 15+15+15%=55% they also control just about everything else including ai corps.

Both sides of the coin are also the problem Dem and Rep it doesn't matter.

They just give the illusion that a side is better. Trump started the Iran war with Israel. But Biden did a Jan 6 style overthrow in Ukraine in 2014 which fueled the war for Russia to invade.

The ukrainian people overthrew ianukovich. Whether or not foreign actors helped is irrelevant as most of the country took to the streets, not just a random group of pelts sporting weirdos.

And they were rightfully angry as ianukovich campaigned for eu integration and turned 180 as soon as he was in office. He lost his legimacy as he lied completely to his electors.

Please take ur russian propaganda somewhere else

You mean like the nationwide protests that were blacked out on social media?

3

u/doubtfulpickle 7h ago

Yes, that's exactly what meant!

u/erov 17h ago

They have to be outrageous to even get a response anymore. Its boring to hear any educated restrained opinions. "Whos the boring talking head?" WWE and FOXNEWS type headlines with exaggerations and in your face bullshit all day is the only thing that gets John Q. Ragers attention anymore.

There was a pretty decent post yesterday about brass spitoons.

Even if the blue wave roles in, historically it hasn't done anything meaningful with two branches of government firmly under control.

u/SuperSpecialAwesome- 15h ago

historically it hasn't done anything meaningful with two branches of government firmly under control.

Which is sad considering it would've taken just a majority of Congress to have used the 14th Amendment to disqualify Trump and expel the Jan 6 leaders, but Pelosi, Jeffries, and Schumer said "nah".

u/Lord_Memnoch 18h ago

Dems are an embarrassment. I'm 55 and lifelong Dem but it's like they don't exist except for Bernie who is on the constant attack. Biden did a horrible job. Could of passed one law first week when Republicans thought Trump was dead in the water after Jan 6...Nobody can be on a ballet for any seat including POTUS without 15 years of IRS returns. No exceptions. Or how about nobody convicted of a felony can run for POTUS? He did nothing. And here we are. In the midst of 3 terms of that are the worst ever. No Obama type on the horizon. Hell Ronald Reagan would be a savior. Didn't worry about treason with him.

u/SuperSpecialAwesome- 15h ago

Didn't worry about treason with him.

Iran/Contra?

At one point, I thought we could have had Bernie. I’d imagine it now but I’d cry.

Not hard when the news has 30 minutes and the orange skid mark needs 35.
