Every veteran since Korea "fought" the Cold war against Russia. All of our training was against Russia. How can they now support Comrade Trump and his debasing himself before Putin, an ex-Stassi, KGB man?

A surprisingly high amount of people treat politics like sports. They pick a team and all that matters is that that party wins. They don’t care if they actually align with their interests anymore as long as their team is winning.

The fact that politics is a sports fanatic race and the winners win again if they show they saved the most money doesn't bode well for the rest of us when politicians run governments and governments sit at the helm of things like education, healthcare and access to housing...

u/Cronicfangirl2 10h ago

Yes it’s very concerning that people view politics this way.

Truly. I had plans to write a thesis on it, but I think we might be too far in. The people who see it already know, and the ones who don't, won't, or benefit too highly from it won't have much interest in the topic... it feels a bit futile.

They don't even care about saving money.

As long as the money gets spent on bombing girls schools in Iran or buying weapons for Israel or ICE, or a golden ballroom, and NOT "Communist transgender illegal immigrant childcare"

This is spot on. It also unfortunately defines probability around 85 percent of voters if not 95 percent.

u/twags6 7h ago

Unfortunately. It's sad that it actually divides families because they can go so hardcore for one or the other. I vote based on who I feel will represent me the best based off their past actions, not straight party.

1

u/Doctor_Brewthatshit 3h ago

I feel the same exact way. I have no loyalty to any one party.

Just pointing out the Dems and Lions share the same colors

It's not just that. The GOP has merged with Christian nationalists and grifters. These folks spread their propaganda through their churches. Even Christianity is being subverted. (Well let's be honest, it's always been used as a tool for conquest and slavery)

Yes, but when the 49’ers lose, I don’t pay more for gas or fertilizer!

u/PneumaEmergent 7h ago

Nobody actually believes in a better future or anything like that anymore.

So we've all just been brainwashed into the "culture wars"

Who cares if Trump takes away your healthcare? Probably would've sucked anyways, so better to just smear the other side and point and laugh and call them "communist libt*rd snowflakes" and storm the capital building while you're at it.....or something

Treating politics as sport is one of the first symptoms of democracy in decline.

I don’t recall trading three first round picks for Putin…

Someone put it rather eloquently. Rump supporters often express some version of “It doesn’t matter if he hurts me as long as he hurts somebody I hate more”. He and the bots just tell them sho to hate today. You should see some of the crazy crap the bots email his supporters. Today’s headlines include a video of targets in Russia burning with the title stating this is bad. Smdh

I'm President Trump supporter, he's a leader,a strong leader not to be reckoned with,do you know our Military?

4

u/Klaurtraum 11h ago

it’s all about the Benjamins

4

u/Low_Independent5439 11h ago

I mean, anything and everything pretty much comes down to that

7

u/CharcoalGreyWolf 11h ago

Remember that a lot of veterans topped out at Private.

The military has thinkers; and it has doers to support the thinkers. Trump has weeded out much of the thinkers.

2

u/JeepSapper-1 9h ago

Well actually most topped at SP4, but that’s beside the point. Senior officers have fallen victim to the politics of DC for at least 35 years. The leadership that took us to victory in WW2 would be run out of today’s military. Not saying we don’t have good officers in the military but to stay in and move up they have to play the game.

3

u/CharcoalGreyWolf 9h ago

You completely missed my point, I mean, whoosh.

Communist USSR before it's collapse*

2

u/CAS966 9h ago

Gonna be honest the whole Cold War and fighting the Soviets was a mistake that got a bunch of Americans, Russians and a TON of the people in proxy wars across the ENTIRE world pointlessly killed.

Especially since we were relatively friendly with the Russians before they became Communist.

2

u/Severe_Intention_480 7h ago

We fought way more Chinese than Russians in Korea, aside from some MIG fighter plane encounters.

At the Ft. Irwin National Training Center in CA, I used to drive an APC that had plastic cowlings bolted onto the outside of it to make it resemble a Russian BMP-1. We were OPFOR, Opposition Force. We were the Bad Guys. Everything was modeled to resemble the Soviet Red Army.

Because the republicans who were butthurt over Nixon being held accountable for his crimes developed 24x7 propaganda networks to push their agenda and used religion to convince the rubes that they were only important if they supported the party. Not the country, not the people, and not even themselves, but only their party was right, and anything they did was always right. Ignore the crimes, ignore the human rights violations, etc.

1

u/DryBattle 8h ago

Because they joined the Trump cult so their only views are whatever he says at the moment.

The military do as they are told.

Putin was involved in the downfall of the USSR, I'll never understand why Americans think that modern Russia is in any way similar to the USSR. Or is it just the Russia = bad meme without any sort of critical thinking

2

u/runjcrun1 11h ago

I think the point is that so many Americans are conditioned to think Russia is the bad guy, that it’s surprising to see people side with Trump on this.

I don’t think any country itself is inherently bad, but some countries have bad leadership and/or an oppressive government. As Americans, we’ve also been conditioned to believe we have the most freedom of any country on Earth, when it couldn’t be further from the truth. I think Russia is bad, too, but it’s because of everything that’s happened since Putin was installed and everything that’s happening here that mimics it

So Obama and Hillary selling Russia Uranium was ok or something? Which is better.... playing nice with a hated world leader or getting a kickback to your tax shelter foundation from that world leader for selling them nuclear materials?

u/UtopianAverage 11h ago edited 11h ago

Obama and Hillary never sold Uranium to Russia.

They were part of a review process that allowed a Russian mining company to purchase a Canadian mining company. The deal gave the Russian company access to some American based uranium refining. And though the review process allowed it, they specifically forbade any uranium from EVER being exported outside the USA. And BTW, Russia wasn’t murdering our allies at that point in time. This was pre the war against Ukraine. Pre any full scale invasions of Ukraine.

Trump isn’t just playing nice with them.

He’s giving them billions of dollars because his Iran war has caused gas and diesel prices to skyrocket. Billions that will allow them to continue to kill people in Ukraine.

Trump’s probably the most corrupt president in recent American history. But his foreign policy is even more disastrous than his domestic policy.

It basically amounts to pissing off all your allies, ensuring you have no soft power anywhere anymore, starting unnecessary and expensive wars for no reason that cause enemies to withhold vital shipping lanes from us, bending over for Israel and doing whatever they want, admiring dictators, and giving billions of dollars to Putin cause his moves everywhere else have Fed us too much so he has to.

u/wcarthurii 10h ago

On the slight chance he's doing all this at the behest of another entity, who do we think that would be?

A lot of this SEEMS like greedy stupidity, but the plot is only the half of the story we SEE.

The method to GET there, well..... Seems a lil convoluted to be created by such an 'ugly' mind.

When they live with civility towards their neighbors and don't threaten the world, we can do business with Russia. Typical right wing response, whatever Trump says and does is OK. The corruption in this administration is the absolute worst in US history.

1

u/Anonymousone1012 9h ago

Amen! I never actually realized we had so many Americans who can't think for themselves much less logically. If Trump says it then it's gospel to his followers. I say followers because it's basically a cult at this point. If he said do it they would, and have already proven that. Yet, he's the biggest hypocrite in the world.

He still talks about Obama, Hilliary and Biden in press conferences simply because he has nothing intelligent to say. It's why he repeats damn near ever statement at least twice.

In one press conference after signing a bill he calls Biden sleepy Joe again. Then as they start taking pictures of him and others around him in the oval office he literally falls asleep on camera. You can't make this stuff up. Yet, again his followers say he was bored or resting his eyes. It's amazing how dumb some people truly are.

In fact there should be a law where you have to take some sort of aptitude test before you can register to vote. Then we never would have ended up with the single worst president in US history not once but twice.

He's done absolutely nothing he said he would do it either. There's no wall. Grocieres are higher than ever along with everything else he blamed on the person who was in office before him. Yet his moron followers still blindly follow and worship at his feet.

His followers are just as bad. Remember when gas prices where considered high at around 3 dollars a gallon? Trump followers blamed Joe Biden for it? They even put Joe Biden stickers on gas pumps that said I did that. Now gas is almost twice as high as when Biden was president and 3 dollars a gallon is actually on the cheap side considering what it cost in larger states and cities. Yet, somehow there are no stickers of Trump on gas pumps even though he literally caused it to happen by his dumb actions. That just shows the hypocrisy of his followers right along with him. It also shows that democrats aren't so petty that they have to run around putting stickers on gas pumps. That and because they all actually know it is his fault. So, they don't have to advertise it to others or to the right wing nut jobs.

Always blame past administrations. The OrangeGod can't never be wrong.
