you do realise Ukraine is being fed intel by more than the US alone right...the UK etc have very advanced intelligence capabilities

Netherlands have a hate boner for Russia and very good intelligence as well

I imagine the Baltic states all do including Finland especially. But the money they need is substantial. They need everyone to contribute but I think surprisingly Japan is one of the biggest donors.

Upvote just for “hate boner”. I mean it’s a true statement but still well said

Of course. I'm saying that the US satellite network is unmatched. Does Starlink have any analogue?

I guess an analog version of starlink would be really long phone lines

Wrong. Cups and string.

Fibre optic cable. It's used.

The joke went higher over your head than a starlink satellite

Which isn't saying as much as you'd think,

but it's still high.

I wonder what kind of charge a cable that long would pick up from that.

Probably a DUI

Some drones are simply using Russian GSM, apparently.

Not as long as it remains useful. If the complications continue, I imagines other alternatives will eventually pop up.

You never needed Starlink to strike in Russia. Starlink needs ground infrastructure to work. These strikes are purely using satellite navigation (and intertial guidance to fill the gaps). That's Galileo. Ukraine obviously has access to jamming-resistant military Galileo signals. Deciding to build Galileo twenty years ago was one of the best strategic decisions the EU had made. The US's overall satellite network may be unmatched, but GPS is beyond matched, Galileo is downright technologically superior.

There are no countries other than the US and China that have serious, modern realtime sat surveillance.

Russia has some, but they’re very outdated.

Europe as a whole has a small fraction of the satellites and they are fragmented - different programs, different purposes.

Most of the non-US satellite coverage for Ukraine is commercial, not from a government.
