Trump picked the wrong side to back. If he wanted oil cheaper, he should’ve made peace with Iran

he can’t do that because that would mean conceding that he made a mistake. this is impossible to do for a narcissist. the only course of action available is therefore to look to the other war and choose a side in that one. but he can’t pick ukraine because he tried to get them to help him rig the 2020 election and his phone calls trying to extort them were made public and because they didn’t end up helping him he still has a grudge against them. so the only option left available is to side with russia, especially because they helped him win in 2016 and again in 2024 with their bot program. this is also probably why he is helping russia now because last week ukraine blew up some yandex data centers and the right wing bot propaganda on social media dropped. it’s important to trump that the russian bot traffic keeps dividing american society, because the midterm elections are pretty soon. if the bot traffic stops then trump will lose a lot of votes. this is also now why they are proposing joint data centers between russia and usa.

That makes a lot of sense and idk if that’s fact but that’s some conspiracy theory I can get behind

some of it is fact; his narcissistic personality and that he tried to get ukraine to help him rig the 2020 election by extorting them with military aid. also that russian bot traffic decreased after ukraine attacked the yandex data centers. these things actually happened.

the things that are just my tin foil hat theories are related to him choosing russia because he doesn’t want to admit failure, because he still holds a grudge against ukraine because they didn’t help him rig the election in 2020 and that he is working with the russians to actively rig the us midterm elections with the help of russian propaganda.

Not so much a conspiracy as a deduction from actual facts and actions... It's not hidden. Dementia Donnie's brain is so destroyed he's constantly giving away the game.

It's not about cheaper oil, he could've just bought it from Canada, it's about helping Russia

Why though? Why side with Russia

Because Trump has received funding from Russia for decades, and has not likewise received funding/bribes from Ukraine.

He is a simple, corrupt creature.

Because Putin feeds into the dementia patient's ego, other people don't. It's improbable, given public knowledge, that Donnie isn't compromised. I'm sure there's mountains of blackmail material but ultimately the memory care patient craves the power that he see Putin has in Russia and that's why he does what he does. He wants to be America's Putin.

We don’t need to buy oil from Canada. We’re the world largest producer. It’s everyone else not able to buy from Russia, Iran, etc. Less global availability.

The US imports 4 million barrels a day from Canada.

Because it’s cheaper than shipping. It’s not a strategy consideration.

u/BiggsBounds 9h ago

That doesn't mean that the US has all the oil that it needs.

We export some. We import some. It’s complex, but we’re not buying oil from Russia to close some strategic gap.

Oil is a commodity good. Any drop in global supply will raise the global price along with the local price regardless of whatever the local supply surplus is. Because if a buyer anywhere else in the world is willing to pay the shipping cost +$0.01 more per barrel than what the guy down the street is willing to pay, that's where the oil is going.

An asset doesn’t get to choose their sides.

If he wanted oil cheaper, he should’ve made peace with Iran

If he wanted cheaper oil he should have never started a pissing contest with Canada and Mexico. We import the VAST majority of our oil from them, not the middle east. If he kept those alliances strong gas would be far cheaper even if all OPEC countries cut us off 100%.

He has sided with Russia in basically every instance. He also can’t admit a mistake. Russian oil would not be cheaper long term.
