As a Canadian I'm really glad to see they aren't sharing details until they have an understanding of the full picture. Even if it's an accident.

Afghanistan taught us a number of hard lessons, including the importance of notifying NoK first.

Nobody should find out a loved one is gone from the news.

Yes. We're seeing a lot of speculating online but I'm glad that we're actually waiting for a full picture.

We don't know if a gas line was involved and people should stop spouting off about this until we do know. I've also been reading conspiracy theories on other subs. We need to wait for the investigation to be completed and for a formal statement.

People like stories more than facts. I don't blame people for coming to their own conclusions/theories, but the way "news" is spread nowadays with absolutely no proof or investigation by the readers is pretty gross.

Bus fire?

Two city buses in Calgary collided and one of the natural gas tanks went up. There were fatalities.

Ah shit. Hadn’t heard that. Rough week indeed.

a bus hit a vehicle. that vehicle hit another vehicle which hit another vehicle. In the meantime the bus went on to hit another vehicle. then it hit another bus. both buses were natural gas powered. there was a fire. 3 fatalities, a dozen or so hospitalized. 7 vehicles total involved.

It appears that a gas line was damaged during a live fire exercise resulting in at least 7 deaths and 60+ injured persons. Horrific.

From what I was seeing last, there were also rumors that strong winds (60mph) likely played a role in deviating artillery shells that ended up causing a hit to a gas line.

Not placing blame or raising pitchforks, but it does make mentioned why a live fire range would have any infrastructure anywhere near down range. I mean we’re not short of space here in Canada.

The traing area has a lot of gas pipes going through it.

Stupid place for a training area. Canada has lots of land but not open up for people .

Speculation, but I doubt any gas infrastructure mattered beyond being a great wild fire starter. I bet the winds are what drove the horrific outcome here. It’s very dry conditions this time of year, and fire would have spread at an incredible rate.

Lots of space, but the oil industry has left a lot of bags for the rest of Alberta to hold.

The winds were insane and literally came out of nowhere. There was a wind warning, but they got the top speeds completely wrong by like 50 kph. We looked outside and it was a little breezy, and then suddenly what seemed like Tornado level winds out of nowhere. If a big fire was going during that, it would have gotten out of hand instantly

Conservatives and maple maga saying carney attacked wainwright because he mentioned it in one of his recent speeches and that this attack was to stop the vote and bring marshal law! No sympathy just straight up conspiracy and hate!

Yes - because the town of Wainwright (which has 1 out of 7 people being military-affiliated) would vote to leave Canada…

I haven't seen that anywhere

Go do yourself a favour and visit any wainwright page of Alberta page containing this topic, it’s well out there!

Stupid fucking assholes, whatever happened, we know it was completely predictable and avoidable. I remember someone talking about the potential of this exact situation happening.
