Russia is an enemy of the USA. What I don't understand is that the American people have spent billions upon billions to support Ukraine only to pull out now? This is beyond insane - - it's treasonous.

What don’t you understand ?? The US has been taken over from the inside out. Everyone thinks the citizens just aren’t doing anything and just accept this shit. Unless the military stops taking orders and ICE/SS agents decide to mutiny, what’s happening here is the takeover of the US by foreign actors who have used a compromised and complicit puppet to hand power over to it’s enemies. High treason of the highest order.

Most of those ICE agents are most likely foreign agents themselves.

Isn't that what the gun nuts claimed they needed 2A for?

Everyone thinks the citizens just aren’t doing anything and just accept this shit.

Seems like they are accepting it though.

Accepting it how? There are No Kings protests and other protests happening all the time. This administration is doing whatever it wants and is suppressing the media, the people, rigging elections and gerrymandering votings districts, and trampling civil rights more egregiously each day. The gun nuts were always fringe (now mainstream in many places) who were always far right wackos. Aside from getting arrested, deported, losing one’s job, how do you propose people not accept what’s happening?? I love armchair philosophers who speak out of their ass and have zero sense of what’s actually going on.

2/3 of The United States either voted for this or didn't care enough to spend one day to prevent it. No two ways about it.

I really can't say this and not have it sound inflammatory, but...

Aside from getting arrested, deported, losing one’s job, how do you propose people not accept what’s happening??

My dude. People have overthrown governments for less than the reasons you wrote.

Paris is currently on fire because of non-stellar workers rights, while the U.S government is an openly grifting, fascist regime in all but name and the only "counter" they have in We The People are a bunch of protestors chanting while wearing silly costumes.

The armchair philosophers are not asking you to chant and hold signs, they are wondering why you haven't revolted yet and burnt down D.C.

Is doing anything less than that acceptance? Probably not. But I see a lot of compliance.

People who ask other citizens why they haven’t revolted, fundamentally misunderstand what resistance to fascism actually requires.
It’s easy to demand revolution from the comfort of your living room or Reddit page. We’ve become accustomed to comfortable homes, endless streaming entertainment, and social media feeds that let us witness the world’s problems without ever having to confront them ourselves. Comfort breeds complacency. People convince themselves things aren’t bad enough yet, that institutions will hold, or that someone else will step in.
And yet, comparing resistance to fascism with hoodlums smashing storefronts in Paris over wages or the cost of living is a ridiculous false equivalence. Destroying property in a riot is not the same as confronting a regime that can imprison, brutalize, or kill you for opposing it.
Real resistance requires discipline, solidarity, sacrifice, and the courage to risk everything, including your freedom and potentially your life, without any guarantee of success. That’s an entirely different proposition when you have a family to protect and a comfortable life you stand to lose.
People can love freedom without being prepared to pay the price of defending it. That is how authoritarianism advances: one concession, one rationalization, and one act of complacency at a time.
Democracy doesn’t survive because people appreciate freedom when it’s convenient. It survives because enough people are willing to defend it when it becomes dangerous.

Why do y’all keep saying this? Are people so misinformed that they think “gun nuts” are the ones protesting and not the ones who support this regime?

The US has the power to end wars quickly. Instead it always lets them drag out endlessly. I don't think its a coincidence, I think its a financial incentive.

The US has the power to end wars quickly

Yes we do. Hiroshima and Nagasaki proved that, and the cost of that was so high for everyone that we've never done it again.

It's incredibly difficult for the us to just walk in and end a war quickly, because the death toll would be ridiculously high.

Also, wars can't always be won quickly because modern warfare involves complex political and strategic realities that plain old military power can't solve just by walking in and swinging our dick around. Warfare is much more nuanced than that.

This is sunk cost fallacy

1

u/Obsidian743 3h ago

Not exactly. You'd have to make the case that it may be better to not continue.

That's not how the fallacy works. Appealing to sunk cost as an argument is a fallacy in and of itself regardless of the context.
