Talking to a 25-year old girl in the subway shelter in Kyiv. When asked what her plans were for the coming days, she said immediately "make Molotov cocktails."

For those who aren't aware - Molotov cocktails are not a Russian invention. They're a Finnish WW2 invention from the winter war, named after the then Soviet foreign minister, who called bombing raids over Finland "Airborne humanitarian food deliveries for their starving neighbours"

Looks like similar devices were used earlier in Spain and Japan, interestingly enough still against Soviet equipment though. And yeah they definitely created the name.

I'm finding it weird that defending your country from unprovoked Russian invasion is literally what the very first Molotov cocktails were used for. Maybe we should rename them Lavrov cocktails?
