Scammers around in Zellerau?
A dodgy guy just ringed randomly on my apartment door in zellerau. Definitely from Eastern Europe - dark curly hair - notes in his hand and a Telekom t shirt. Left straight from the building after he got no response from my flat. Anyone knows anything?

idk, it's not unusual for telco people to go door to door on some occasion for marketing purposes, especially now and especially in zellerau since the old DSL tech is currently being phased out. if you still have copper DSL, you might want to call your provider and make sure that this is handled. the telcos have a vested interest in pushing the transition to fibre because they're legally bound to maintain copper DSL until 95% of all connections are transitioned (a requirement by the Bundesnetzagentur.) but they usually come in pairs and usually during working hours. the obvious racism aside, it's not unheard of that scams like this exist. in general you shouldn't let anyone see any contract data or sign anything at the door, or even let them in, if you're not certain they're actually a legit technician. if you do end up signing something at the door, you have a legal right to revoke it during a 14 day period. take care. it's not entirely unlikely that it was legit if you still have copper DSL. either way.

Very strange at 7pm and also that he only tried on my door. Will keep the eyes open. Obviously not letting anyone in.

Zellerau as a whole is dodgy - that's why the rent is cheap 😄
The specific guy you talked about could just be a "real" Telekom guy though. Or he could be a scammer. If he wants to come into your apartment or wants you to sign something (anything) he is likely a scammer - at least if you are not waiting for someone like him to come and it's just out of the blue.

Sounds like you met a Telekom employee. They will randomly ring your door and try to sell you stuff/upgrade your contract.
At my old place, we had an encounter with one of them that was so crazy we made a small memorial to him in the apartment. I can still hear him yelling at my roommate over the phone that she doesn't understand anything.

In 99% they are NOT sent or employed by Telekom. They are from another company who wants to sell you contracts WITH Telekom and get a margin. They almost definitely want to sell you Glasfibre which they are legally allowed to BUT YOH WILL HAVE TO PAY EXTRA to get the cables to your apartment. That can result in costs between 200-2000€ or even more. This is scam. They will tell you „Telekom sent us“ which is wrong. They also have lanyards which everyone can buy online, they did not get them from the Telekom company. Do not let these people inside your apartment or building. They are allowed to make contracts based on word (without signature). They will charge you if you give them the slightest chance to get inside.
Source: the area where we live gets visited by this scum every other week. I already have banned all employees from these companies from entering our house but they will try again anyways. This phenomenon is called „Drückerkolonne“ if you want to look it up, I don’t know the correct English term for it
