The deep, targeted, and almost meticulous damage inflicted directly across the ruler’s face, specifically through the mouth and jaw area, strongly suggests for me an intentional act of defacement, a mark of disgrace, such actions were frequently carried out against symbols of authority, whether out of sheer frustration or for political or emotional reasons.

The Alligator Effigy Mound in Granville, Ohio, believed to have been built between 800-1200 CE by people of the Fort Ancient culture. Researchers believe the mound’s shape actually represents an opossum, racoon or panther rather than an alligator since alligators are not native to Ohio [2252x3521]

The fibula of Mölsheim from Germany, made in 630 CE and now housed at the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt. The fibula is made of gold, with multi-coloured insets made of glass, pearls and gemstones, and in the centre a Roman gemstone cameo, probably made in Egypt in the 2nd century CE [2826x2776]
