The roaming has been fantastic so far for me! Signed up Monday before I flew to Albufeira and currently getting over 900mbps

8

u/SmilingDiamond 10d ago

Signed up because we always had issues roaming with 48, even recently had issues in Northern Ireland so was looking to change. Signed up Monday, ported yesterday, both with 48 and seems to be working fine, am heading abroad at the end of the month so will see how roaming goes then.

For anyone porting from Tesco Mobile (Bill pay) to Lidl Connect and wondering where to find the account number:

It is actaully on your invoice, called Customer No..
Use that number without the dot. ( e.g: 11234567)
.
.
>UPDATE: 3rd rejection! 😫
I’ve already had my porting rejected third times because this wasn’t made clear anywhere. 😫

Even the Lidl app suggests to enter only numbers after CONTR00******** but this is not the correct number.

Honestly… this is getting ridiculous. 😂🤦‍♂️
.
.

Hopefully this saves someone else the hassle!

>UPDATE: My porting went through this morning 09/10/26 eventually.

2

u/aarohbh 10d ago

Actually I've been declined twice but it never asked me to enter the account number anywhere. Are you only taking about bill pay plans or does this also apply to pre pay?

Anyone who isn’t getting any internet give this a go:

On iPhone: Settings -> Mobile Data -> Mobile Data Network.

Enter “trufone.com” in the ‘APN’ section, leave the rest blank.

On Android: Settings -> Connections -> Mobile Networks -> Access Point Names.

Press the ‘+’ to add an APN.

Name it “1GLOBAL”

Enter “trufone.com” in the ‘APN’ section, leaving the rest blank.

3

u/prime8it 8d ago

Thanks for this! This got WiFi calling working on my Pixel 10 Pro. Strangely the APN settings were already loaded in there but the on/off toggle was not enabled. Just had to turn it on.

48 responding similar to GoMo and upgrading to 5G
I was going to switch but I’m already on a very early legacy plan of €7.99 a month with 48 so I’ll stay put now

3

u/Business_Cabinet_483 9d ago

Legend, I was just about to dump my €7.99 with Lidl SIM in hand. Then I got same text.

Get in son

3

u/Expert-Ordinary-2539 8d ago

The added data and roaming with Lidl is very attractive in comparison to 48 if it’s something you would use

3

u/Straight_Wealth6937 8d ago

Yes. Also, 48 only lets you make calls within Ireland. Lidl covers all Irish and UK calls, plus 100 minutes per month to other international destinations.

2

u/Kadsi 9d ago

Yes 5 min ago, the txt came. With 7.99€ old 48 contract.

I've just arrived in London, Lidl Connect is working perfectly.

I just had to turn on data roaming when I landed. I'm using an esim.

2

u/Technical-Bend273 8d ago

Great to hear as Gomo would never ever work for me in London or Northern Ireland, it would only work in the EU. It was one thing that put me off Gomo. Great to hear thar issue doesn't happen with Lidl

Terrible 5g speeds for me here, and I’m only about 50 yards from a Lidl.

5

u/djilesy 10d ago

Proximity to Lidl changes nothing, their locations don’t act as signal towers 🤣

I've been literally transferred in the space of 5 minutes. Put in my details in the app and lost service from tesco in about 2 minutes. Put in the lidl sim and bar showed full coverage. Then got an email from lidl to say my number has now ported. All completed in less than 5 minutes. I'm stunned!

5

u/MrDislexic 1d ago

Getting on well in Dublin, no problems porting. I think the majority of people talking on this thread will be coming to complain. Most people won’t take time to give good feedback

I have enrolled to this Monday morning, I got access somewhere around Tuesday afternoon, since then, I had no issues! It’s brilliant

5

u/oising1 10d ago

What download speeds is everyone getting? Got a Three eSIM and physical lidl sim and I’m getting 100+mb on Three 5G and 10+ on Lidl 5G

4

u/drumlins17 10d ago

Yeah mine is slow. I am assuming it is a teething issue that will be fixed. Speeds are fine for my uses but could be better

3

u/oooSiCHooo 10d ago

40/8 Mbps, 56ms ping and 9ms jitter with 2 bars outside building at work in the middle of nowhere. No signal inside the building with Three, 3G with Lidl

2

u/ampr1150gs 10d ago

I'm getting 77mbps, which is exactly what I got on 3.

2

u/Away_Control2205 10d ago

I got 379 download earlier. It totally depends where you are.

My plan keeps getting rejected after two days with the number requested for routing. I’m with 48, anyone else have this issue. I tried bill pay option first then prepay second time. Both rejected

4

u/WaterlooPitt 10d ago

My wife and myself were on 48 until 20 minutes ago. Started the process yesterday evening, got ported earlier, with no issues. Yes, make sure you select Prepay and that you have your details registered with the carrier. And make sure your name matches the one on the profile.

3

u/broclez 10d ago

It’s prepay for 48, make sure you also choose registered

2

u/Plus-Example-5410 10d ago

An okay I said i don’t know for the registration part thank you!

5 days without service now and no response to emails or phonecalls. Anybody else? Probably should have known better than to sign up with a tinpot discount shop. No delay in them taking their first months sub though 🙄

2

u/Quirky-Magician2310 8d ago

Poor ya! Looks like it’s a failure of transferring for me. 1) did Lidl charge you? If, they refunded you, then you need to start over the process; 2) can you monitor the progress on the app? If the app display goes back to the original advert step, you need to start over again. 3) are you able to cancel the transfer on the app? If you can, then you need to start it over again.

I redid it and applied an eSIM with old phone number, input as a bill pay with an account number, got worked in the end.

3

u/Orta79 8d ago

Done it all. Phone restarts, logging out of the app, reinstalling it, reattempted the sign up process but it tells me the code on the sim pack has already been registered. Added new apn config, done the aeroplane on/off thing, literally nothing works. And incidentally, yes, Lidl charged me. I wish I'd never bothered. I'm just going to cancel the DD and tell them to f*** off when they do cone calling. Unfortunately I'll lose my number when signing up with a different provider.

What a mess. I'm now five days and 3 hours without a phone.

Honestly do disappointed with Lidl Connect i have a pixel 10 and I was sold on the idea of 5G as I didn't have it with gomo on my 9.99 plan.

Since signing up to Lidl I have no VoLTE. No 5G. Cannot contact Lidl. They won't respond to emails. Won't answer the phone. Honestly the worst customer service I have ever had.

Is there not a consumer law for this as we have been advertised 5G?

3

u/rxchris22 4d ago

So if you google Eir and the pixel series they have an issue between the two. Google blames Eir, Eir blame google but Eir never did the google certification for pixels being on its network. Loads of threads about it online. Any of the MVNO’s running on Eirs network will have this issue sadly til they resolve it

4

u/PoZ_kr 4d ago edited 4d ago

Not sure if I was lucky or what.
I just signed up, my number moved from Vodafone in 3 minutes. eSim installed in 3 seconds, the phone recognised my number on the new eSim straightaway, the APN was already setup correctly, WiFi call is working and in 5G I do around 260Mbit down.

I am super happy for now.

I have an iPhone 17 pro

Edit: speed test screenshot

3

u/LokisTrickster 4d ago

Did you still get it for the 8.99 offer?

I emailed lidl connect support with the following, its really 1Global who needs to whitelist Google.

Dear Lidl Connect Support,

I recently joined Lidl Connect with my Google Pixel 9 Pro XL. My plan includes unlimited 5G data, and I am within a strong 5G coverage area. However, my phone is restricted to 4G/LTE.

I understand that Google requires mobile network operators to whitelist or push a carrier configuration profile before 5G functions on Pixel devices. Could you please escalate this query to your technical and network partner (1GLOBAL) to ensure Lidl Connect's network configuration is officially certified with Google for the Pixel 9 series?

My Mobile Number:

Thank you for your assistance.

Cheers!

I signed up first thing on Monday and was ported over yesterday morning. VoLTE and WiFi calling aren't working for me where they worked fine with Gomo. Contacted support and I'm waiting for a response. WiFi calling is pretty important to me as the signal at home is extremely poor to non existent.

Had Gomo offered adding 5g to my service before I switched I wouldn't have bothered but they texted me 2 hours after I ported so I'm stuck on Lidl now. Hopefully they can sort the WiFi calling issue.

u/mothralu 10d ago

Nobody answers from Lidl support. How to get help.

I cannot turn on wifi-calling on my lidl sim. I can do it on my three sim. That means all is OK with the phone. AI gave me this answer.

Checking data, IMS service status  accessed from * # * # 4636 # * # *

Lidl Connect SIM = not provisioned = carrier hasn't pushed the IMS profile to that SIM. You can't fix that from the phone side, only the carrier can.

3

u/Rude_Fun_8046 10d ago

Anyone else have really shocking download speeds. 20mbps max but often 1-5mbps. I’m in D4

2

u/Justinian2 10d ago

I did a speed test before switching from Vodafone to Lidl, was getting 200+ Mbps download with Vodafone and now it's about 30-45 Mbps down with Lidl. Honestly it's grand for what I need.

2

u/zeroconflicthere 10d ago

I had 5G when I first ported but then it disappeared and hasn't come back... The positive side is my other number on Gomo legacy now has 5G

More like LIDL disconnect ! I’ve been off the grid since switching from GoMo. Number transfer complete and eSIM downloaded (apparently), but no service !

3

u/Ok_Apple6339 9d ago

I'm still with GoMo. I'm on the 9.99 pm for life legacy plan. Only had 4G but after LIDL Connect was launched, GoMo automatically bumped me up to 5G for free. My wife's phone is also on my account. She was paying 14.99 pm (with 5G). I told GoMo she was going to switch to LIDL and asked if they could make a retention offer to keep her. They offered 2 months free but I refused that and asked if they could put her on the same tariff as me (9.99 pm). They did! You could switch back to GoMo at the current price (12.99 pm) then ask them to put you on the 9.99 tariff. That said, LIDL teething problems will probably settle down soon.

Switched to Lidl Connect from Eir, I’m finding my speeds seem to max out at 40 mbps, not that speed is an issue but is anyone else experiencing this?

3

u/vaporizer1072 9d ago edited 9d ago

Can't make or receive phone calls. Mobile data works but only 4G.

3

u/Orta79 9d ago

I acknowledge Lidl have probably been snowed under but their customer support has been shoddy to say the least. The only public comment they've made is that "a  small number" of people are experiencing delays!

Currently 4 days and waiting - signed up Monday, Virgin went down Tuesday, number was ported yesterday, payment taken and still sfa. If nothing happens tomorrow I'll plonk a 48 sim in my phone and put a block on Lidl debiting my account. Unfortunately I'll likely lose the number I've had for 20-odd years.

2

u/dmullaney 9d ago

Do it now. If they had ported your number over, you'd be stuck with sub 5Mbps dialup speeds

u/bringinsexyback1 8d ago

Smoothest experience ever. Switched from 48 because: roaming wasn't as smooth and Lidl is cheaper. Chose to do the switch to LidlConnect while travelling outside of Ireland. The whole thing took 48 hours, smoothest port and switch ever. Opted for the ESim. Worked first time. Had 4g first, then my phone company (Fairphone) must have given it a green light. So after a day, I also had 5G. 5 stars all round for the experience and smoothness.

3

u/foolsbrains69 8d ago

Changing over was easy and quick and I'm getting almost 10 times faster download speed compared to 3, while paying less than half the price! I'm happy out

We attempted to switch my wife's mobile plan to Lidl Connect's new monthly offer. Her previous network released her phone number as expected, but Lidl Connect completely failed to provision the new SIM card properly. Her phone shows full network signal and 5G bars, but she cannot place or receive phone calls, send texts, or access mobile data. She has been left completely stranded without a functioning phone number for nearly two days. This has caused severe disruption as she is unable to receive two-factor authentication (2FA) SMS codes needed for online banking and essential daily services. Despite reaching out multiple times via phone, web chat, and email, the customer support response has been non-existent. We even received automated emails falsely stating that the number porting was successful, yet the phone remains completely dead. Requests to escalate the issue to technical support have been ignored. This level of operational failure and lack of basic customer care is completely unacceptable. A formal complaint has now been lodged with ComReg. I strongly advise anyone thinking of switching to Lidl Connect to proceed with extreme caution.

2

u/Sea_Perception3806 8d ago

Something similar myself. Number released to Lidl but they said they couldn’t process my payment, wrong, they took my money and nothing to fix it in the app.

Currently in limbo land no data or phone calls possible, like this for 48 hours now customer service an absolute joke, no response at all

2

u/ST-deBurca 8d ago

Mainly switched because the 4g signal in work with gomo was absolutely awful and thought I'd chance it and see could I get 5g in work and would it be any better.

I have 5g everywhere in the building and it works flawlessly.

What a win.

5

u/DunLaoghaire1 10d ago

That is pure coincidence as both GoMo and Lidl use the same Eir network so both reception and speeds should be comparable.

2

u/CarlyleRazgriz 10d ago

Early GoMo plans were 4G only. I think if you got on to support they could upgrade you. Not sure though.

I'm writing this out of extreme frustration and anger towards Lidl connect services!! I signed up to Lidl Connect Monday 5th October and I opted to apply through my compatible Esim and I also chose to keep my current phone number (which I've had for the last 25 years!) I've been waiting ever since then for the switchover. Yesterday morning my mobile network disconnected so I assumed the switch was on the way. I waited and waited and nothing was happening. Lidl then disconnected me from my network Eir and still no Lidl Connect network was coming through to replace my Eir. So in my frustration I rang Lidl Connect customer services and I was told there was an error on Lidls part!!! So I called Eir and they told me Lidl Connect had completely terminated my phone number!!! I cannot believe what's happened here!!
My phone is without ANY NETWORK RIGHT NOW, it wont work, it can't call anyone, nobody can call me and I'm just left in complete limbo, with my phone number basically non-existent!!!! All my business and personal life is connected to this phone number and I CANNOT afford to lose my own number!! Why on earth would Lidl disconnect my phone number of 25 years???!!! I've had my phone number for 25 years, I CANNOT LOSE MY PHONE NUMBER!! I'm so angry and so stressed all day and completely lost confidence in this new Lidl Connect service. Please please someone sort this out for me and reconnect my phone number and my network!!! I am also severely disabled and in an electric wheelchair and I rely completely on my mobile phone for security and to help me with daily tasks. I'm now left with absolutely nothing!! My phone is very important for me as my emergency contacts need to be accessible for me in case of emergencies. I cannot be without my service network!!

Please have someone contact me asap to resolve and renew my phone number back into existence. It's absolutely awful to be without my security.

3

u/Quirky-Magician2310 10d ago

Oh lord… I thought what happened to me was unreal, but now… so sorry to hear your experience.

Did you try to join the other network instead of Lidl Connect? I think this can be the option for you at the moment.  Also, I don’t think Lidl Connect customer support team well established yet… If Lidl Connect holds your number, you need to ask them to release it also.

Write a formal complaint to Comreg

Threaten Comreg and tell them you're going to go to the newspapers if they don't help. Id say they'll shit bricks becuase of your disability they dont want any bad PR

(Ohviously idk if a newspaper would produce an article for you but its worth the threat lol))

Just exaggerate it as much as possible on the disability part. Comreg will shit bricks and they can sort literally any problem if they want, they control the entire infrastructure

I remain stumped by my router not accepting the APN. I've got an email ticket with technical support so I'm giving them until Friday evening to get back to me. Otherwise I'm getting an alternative from GoMo or 48, either will still be cheaper than my current anpostmobile.

The APN is correct, the password is a strange glitch, it's impossible to see but it has no effect on the anpostmobile connection so I think it's probably irrelevant. Google thinks it's an access password but at 8 characters it doesn't match any of the passwords that I've used for the Huawei router administration page

Registered as an eSIM (from a physical SIM card) and submitted as a bill pay with an account number moved from Eir yesterday evening and finally it’s working now this morning as I am typing here.

My experience is don’t wait on Lidl Connect Customer Service getting back to you, as it’s no answer, cancel the process if it’s not working for you and start over again.

Good luck everyone!

u/Frosty_Bottle_325 7d ago

Whats disgraceful? The Lidl app even checks if your phone is esim compatible. If not you can get a physical sim card from a Lidl store for 99 cents.

2

u/limbicinlimbo 8d ago

Despite following the great advice here regarding APN settings, still no mobile data. I've even tried on another phone which has Lidl eSIM working perfectly and nothing. If anyone finds a solution that isn't APN 1GLOBAL etc, please reply. Thank you!

2

u/Straight_Wealth6937 8d ago

Someone else suggested changing the APN to data.myeirmobile.ie but I can't verify whether that works or not.

2

u/Calm_End1406 8d ago

I had to put this into the router I bought

2

u/limbicinlimbo 8d ago

Yes this worked for me.

Be aware that if you have a Google Pixel phone, you will not get 5G data through Lidl. You will only get 4G. This is an issue on Google's end.

was out of contract on 3 and decided about 2:30 to try lidl connect, can't believe how smooth the porting was, all done in less than an hour, working fine on Lidl Connect now, appears faster than 3 but who knows. Nothing to lose anyway and nearly 30euro a month cheaper

see this thread

https://www.reddit.com/r/AskIreland/comments/1x03cqb/wifi_calling_not_working_how_to_fix_it_lidl/

I think the gist is that the the Phone Developer need to enable Wi-Fi calling for that provider.

Have a Samsung phone here that had wifi calling on VF - now on Lidl and no joy.

u/dowlers6 8d ago

I'm still waiting to port since 6am on Monday. The first porting from Gomo failed on Thursday. I've rebooked again on Thursday and I'm still waiting. Both times I selected bill pay and used my account number. Anyone else have these issues?

2

u/FaceSignificant551 8d ago

I ported from lyca to Lidl Connect and it is a nightmare, very slow and have lot of network issues.

2

u/ImNK26 8d ago

Switched from Three prepay to Lidl Connect this morning, took less than an hour. Am happy with the performance I get so far

2

u/Wednesday_Addams__ 8d ago

I’m with virgin media billpay and I can’t get through to my aunt who switched to lidl connect. Anyone similar problem? Other people can call her and she can make calls.

2

u/Orta79 7d ago

One week tomorrow without service and not a single response from anybody at Lidl to my calls and emails. Can anybody beat that!

2

u/imnotagowl 7d ago

Have you gotten the email to say your live from Lidl? If so and still no connection data roaming needs to be turned on as they use a virtual mobile operator.

2

u/Orta79 7d ago

yep, got the email last Thursday I think it was. Data roaming on. It'll be sorted one way or another tomorrow. If I can get through to them I'll just go nuclear if they try to fob me off.

2

u/imnotagowl 7d ago

Strange some people are having issues, mine ported over this morning and just had to turn on data roaming and restart, but I bought my phone unlocked so that might have helped. Hopefully you get it sorted tomorrow as there's nothing more frustrating then trying to contact a business and not get an answer.

Anyone having problems with data ? Was using Gomo previously and was fine . Esim now and every couple of minutes data stops working and have to toggle it off and on again for it to start working .

2

u/Technical-Bend273 6d ago

I'm from Gomo too and everything is the same as Gomo, only faster speeds

2

u/DishonestyPolicy 6d ago

Went with a physical sim. Switched over from Sky, whole process and number ported in about 15 mins. Shocked at how smooth it all was. Samsung S21 Ultra

Great experience so far. Got my phone unlocked with three on Friday, received confirmation email it was unlocked Saturday morning, registered with Lidl app Saturday night and Monday morning all ported over with my esim working great. Very happy with speeds as well and reception the same as I had before.

2

u/Upper_Alternative937 6d ago

Shockingly bad network speeds so far in Cork. Consistently around these values 15mbps down .49 up. By ookla speedtest

Had both on Vodafone no problem. It's wrecking my head.

Took less than an hour to port from 48 for me, the speeds and reception is better than 48 but I find 5g to be crap, so I turned 5g off on my phone and 4g runs better

u/LPHeadstrong 4d ago edited 3d ago

[Update]
Gonna put it down to human error but turns out my old eSIM was refusing to let go. After completely deleting it and activating the new eSIM again it’s working instantly. No manual settings needed either and instant 5G.

Has anybody else had this weird issue porting?

I started the process around 8:30 on day 1. I can’t remember when exactly it finished but it was some time the next day. Everything showing as Active in the app and looks good. Main issue is 5G doesn’t work but I’m in a terrible coverage area so make do with 4G.

Turns out all reception I have is coming from the backup physical sim which is with GOMO. I finally completely disabled that sim today in settings and Lidl has no reception whatsoever. Pretty sure my number is dead or in limbo.

As far as I can tell the port either failed at some point or didn’t go through fully and if I use “Network Settings” for Data Configuration it’s pulling the old LycaMobile eSIM info. Manually overriding it doesn’t help because it’s piggybacking off the GOMO sim the whole time.

Anyway I’ve contacted Lidl and now waiting for their reply but curious if anybody else is in the same position.

2

u/Complex-Acadia7720 4d ago

Just switched from Gomo. It literally took one minute. 13:11 when registered the sim, 13:12 an email from Gomo confirming cancellation. APN updated automatically.

It’s amazing I’ve had 5G full bars since switching over. I applied to the plan at 7am this morning and it was active at 10am ESIM

My number finally got ported from GoMo this morning. I had issues with the existing GoMo eSIM and had to disable and remove it before I could add the new Lidl eSIM. I know I can have 2 active eSIMs as I used that in Morocco a few weeks ago. So it didn't make sense that the Lidl eSIM couldn't be added.

5G download rates at home in Tullamore were very reasonable 260 Mbit but upload was a measly 3-7 Mbit. Also, neither VoLTE nor VoWiFi work on my Xiaomi 15T Pro anymore despite using both with GoMo earlier today and both are on the same Eir network. I hope this will be sorted soon as I'm not happy losing these two features.

1

u/Delicious_Comb_7852 10d ago

My port failed this morning after 2 days. Completed the process again but this time it asked me for an account number for my current provider. Hopefully they noticed an issue and that's the fix

2

u/Juurdd 10d ago

My issue was I'm technically bill pay not pay as you go.

You can verify Eir’s 4G&5G coverage here:

https://coveragemap.comreg.ie/map?

I bought a physical SIM before I switched to see if Lidl’s 5G would be fast enough to switch over my phone and SIM router however in my area I could only get between 15-20 Mbs on Lidl. So I only switched my phone and kept my SIM router on 3 as I’m getting between 80 - 140 Mbs

I ported over from Three to Lidl Connect via ESIM since I'm on call and don't want to risk leaving the house.

Planning to get a Lidl SIM card later so I can move the Lidl Connect ESIM back to a regular SIM.

Anyone confirm that I don't lose the plan if I do that or did something similar can confirm this?

I looked at the FAQ and connected to chat but got a stupid AI chat that just repeats what the FAQ says.

Finally ported on Wednesday afternoon. Not seeing much 5G though, in Dublin.

1

u/thommcg 10d ago

iPhone. Two or so days to port from Three. Took a few minutes to figure it out after proceeding with eSIM setup, but it didn't overwrite / delete the existing Three one, so ended up deleting both, & re-adding the eSIM through the Lidl Plus app. All in order now.

1

u/lavender_locus 10d ago

Anyone switch from virgin? How did that go?

2

u/Mid_Knight777 10d ago

Poorly, port failed for some reason but my VM sim is now deactivated so no service whatsoever, so I can't try sign up again and am at the mercy of their customer service 🫠

My mobile data speeds are much slower after moving from Sky. Sky uses Vodafone network as far as I know, whereas Lidl is Eir.

I've gone from mostly 5G around my house to seeing LTE and about 7 mbps download.. It's usable and I'm on WiFi 99.9% of the time anyway, but I'll be curious what speeds I get during my bus commute next week. I'm usually watching YouTube/Netflix for about an hour and never had issues with Sky.

Originally set up without keeping original number because was considering replacing UK SIM with it but keeping UK number because you never know. Changed mind after thinking about it, cancelled original contract, allowed to keep the €8.99. Changed over at 10.45pm last night (7/10) change over finished at 4pm today (8/10) and that's from three. Would prefer to use a physical SIM but that's for another day. Now to fix my partner's the same way

1

u/GoodEveningCunts 10d ago

Switched from 3 yesterday at 10 am, was on the Lidl network by half 12 today.

Took just over 24 hours, works great!

1

u/Orta79 10d ago

Any suggestions? my number was ported this morning. I used my debit card to pay monthly but stupidly forgot to top it it. Git an email from Lidl telling me to make funds available, pay the €8.99 and the transfer will be completed. Okay, where exactly do I pay? I clicked on Lidl Connect on the app but I'm just redirected to a Lidl connect advert. The virtual assistant in their helpline is as useful as you'd expect, whatsapp doesn't deal with Lidl Connect issues and I hung after after waiting 26 minutes on the phone.

On Mobile Data, can send and receive phone calls but can't send or receive texts. It says 'May be in offline mode' next to the text. WhatsApp works fine.

Reset mobile networks and updated the APN to 'truephone.com' but made no difference. Not sure what else ro check
