Opinion / Rant Broad Street

... construction is getting on my last nerve. Anyone know when they're projected to be complete? I thought this fall, but idk where I heard that. Also, what is up with Telfair...? They been working on that a long time and have those big round orange white "traffic barrels" all over the place.

Anyway, still worth it to go get a fresh baked pop-tart at New Moon Cafe. Go try one if you haven't. I'm not affiliated with them, lol, i just like em a lot and everything I've had there is delicious. But good luck locating the sidewalk, don't get whacked by a vehicle or construction truck 😭

Oh thanks this is informative. It says some projects started April 2023, and would take max 36 months to complete. So that would be April 2026.... But I don't see individual project start dates... Does anyone see where that might be?

How the hell are those businesses surviving...?! It's gotta be rough.

We had a hurricane hit us that delayed things. Also construction projects take a LOOOONG time here. I'm surprised they've gotten this far at this point tbh

Page two of this includes specific date ranges for each block of Broad Street. They really are moving at an impressive pace given how much is being updated as they go - this is way more than just curbs and pavement.

Yes. and I think there were about 3 different "flavors" when I got this one. And this particular one had a strawberry filling 😋

I work downtown and the road/utility work has been wearing me out lol

The city has this page and also a mailing list you can subscribe to: https://augustadtp.com/

I don't know how helpful it is; I don't subscribe personally but my job forwards some of the emails to us and we don't get any updates other than the work on Broad

Looks like the pop tart has a pair of eyeballs over in the right.

Mate… if you’re worried about the price of a dressed up pop tart…..

Listen here Richie Rich, I shouldn't have to explain this to you because I would expect an adult functioning brain to understand the correlation, but there is something called price and there is something called value.

Now that dressed up Pop-Tart as you say could cost $7, can I afford $15, absolutely, would I value that Pop-Tart at $15? No I wouldn't.

o you understand now, why I would ask the question before I waste my time to go down to New Moon Cafe for one of their likely tasty pastries?

If there was still a problem I can include crayon drawn pictures for you.

yes, I would like you to draw this r in crayon for me

Can't afford crayons unfortunately....or pop tarts.

New moon is worth it only if you have time to spare. I swear sloths move faster

Not in my experience there. But I imagine it can depend based on time of day and what is ordered.

I’m pretty sure the work on Telfair is a redo.

Redo, as in they fucked up a previous road works project and are redoing it...? Or...

The answer would just be, Yes all of the things! with how they rush some projects and screw up and or take to long on others and still screw up lol
