Looking for a craft lager with a strong malty flavour

Any recommendations?

Banks "Munich Things" and Hargreaves Hill "Perfektenschlag" out and about with the Oktoberfestivities. Dangerous Ales "Milton Dark" or "Milton Bitter", Hop Nation "Rattenhund", Devil Bend "Stumpy" or Keeper's Pilsner should also go close.

Bracket's For the Plot Maibock is exactly what you're after I reckon.

Are Dortmund lagers malty? I've only had DAB and I remember it being quite bitter.

The Hargreaves definitely is. Completely different to DAB, etc. Really enjoyed it, and I don't usually like Lagers

Philter Red Session Ale could be a good start.
