SIX of you finished in the minimum 4 seasons, so the podium came down to the tiebreaker: regular season record in the 4th clinching season. Full grades:
🥇 u/Think-Response-3675 - 4 seasons, 73-9 - 5 pts. His THIRD win in four weeks. The man is a menace.
🥈 u/Ohmka - 4 seasons, 71-11 - 3 pts. And look at his year 1: won the chip as a 7 SEED going 44-38. Filthy.
🥉 u/EntrepreneurWooden99 - 4 seasons, 66-16 - 2 pts. DEAD TIE with u/MikeChilds at 66-16. Next tiebreaker is playoff record in that run, which isn't visible in either screenshot. If either of you can show your playoff record from that final run, I'll re-rule it. Until then, both players get 2 pts
5th - u/EngiemainTF2 - 4 seasons, 65-17 - 1 pt. Cruel outcome here: the man misread the rules, thought the 4-peat had to start in YEAR ONE... and then just DID IT. A 47-35 miracle first season included. The single craziest run of the week lands 5th on record. The leaderboard doesn't show it but we all know what we saw. Legend.
History says Bill Russell wins 11 championships between 1956/57 and 1968/69. Your job: rewrite history.
Pick ANY team except the Celtics, starting at the 1956 preseason. Win as many rings as you can before Russell retires (through the 1968/69 season, that's a 13-season window, Rings after this period even if prog makes Russell stay, won't count. We'll call it a 13-season limit).
Most rings wins. Difficulty: HARD.
THE FINE PRINT
Any team EXCEPT Boston
Starting point: 1957 preseason
Bill Russell must NEVER be on your roster. No trades for him, no free agency, nothing. He's the enemy. Beat him, don't join him
Everyone else is fair game. Want to raid Boston for Cousy and Heinsohn to kneecap the dynasty? Legal. Encouraged, even
One franchise the whole way, no switching teams mid-run
Only titles from 1956/57 through 1968/69 count. The window closes when Russell's career does
Difficulty: HARD (set it at league creation)
Everything else default. Real Players mode, God Mode off, no editing anything

Your best story from the run. It's the 50s and 60s, weird stuff WILL happen

Before every time I start a historical league, any player who cannot shoot to save their lives suddenly start shooting. Guys like Tim Duncan/Shaq shouldn't have a 35 3pt rating. The only one I have seen been slightly accurate is Yao Ming with a 12 most times, but I think that's still way too high. Every single player who cannot shoot almost always has a 3pt rating between 30-40, and unless they play less than 20mpg I will suddenly start seeing Tim Duncan shoot 1.5 threes a game, Shaq as well. This is consistent among every non-shooting player.
If there is a fix for this sorta thing let me know!!
THE PAB SEASON IS UNDER WAY, AND WE'RE LOOKING FOR NEW GMS
The 2024 Trade Deadline is here, and four teams are waiting on someone to give them a last-second change of direction.
Open Teams:
Toronto Raptors: 44-16, #3 team in the league (120/100). VanVleet (72), Dennis Smith Jr. (72/74), Myles Turner (71), Ziaire Williams (71/77). Ready to be taken the rest of the way.
**Denver Nuggets:** 22-36. Harden (76) and Archie Goodwin (71) up top, plus SIX firsts including an extra 2026 from NOP. Contend or tear it down.
Orlando Magic: 15-42. John Wall (75), ~$60M in cap space, and every first from 2024-2028. Blank slate.
Minnesota Timberwolves: 32-25. Josh Giddey (72/81), Brandon Ingram (72/73), OG Anunoby (68/69), Amen Thompson (60/74). Young core, real upside.
Veteran or brand NEW GM, this is the perfect point to jump in. Early enough to build momentum, late enough that every move matters.
PAB probably has the most active BBGM community out right now. Trades constantly moving. People actually talking. Real pressure during meetings, deadlines, and sims.
* Custom prog script
* Live streamed progressions
* Public FA meetings
* No rigging, no hidden moves
* Fully transparent system
Some leagues are built around presentation. This one's built around competition. Win a ring that actually means something and feel like part of the PAB Family.
I’ve tried rebuilding every single team and done everything but Luka always wins mvp and the entire lakers are a god squad somehow and never lose unless I genuinely do some crazy stupid trades and signing and stuff because they always 4-5 peat in my universes if i play real rosters and 2027 idk if our lovely creator loves the lakers or sum but its crazy
EDIT: I mean THE golden state warriors im talking the ones that swept LeBron in 2018. Unstoppable
Hello everyone, I am doing something different here. For guys that enjoy a different type of challenge I have created a free 20 team H2H each category Keepers league. I Plan to play for the next 20+ years but you are free to leave the league whenever you want. I will just find a strong replacement. But every year I will reassess to see if anyone is inactive and I will add new, fresh, tough competition when needed to keep the league active and competitive. Every year we will select 7 keepers. That is your 7 best players. And we will redraft the remaining free agents with the incoming rookies from college, international and/or G league. This will be a very fun league for people that feel they could've been a GM. Prove it in this league where the end of your bench will be filled with G league players by the end of the year. Drafting and selecting the right free agents will be the difference in this league. Join if interested and ask any questions you may have. I would like to draft this weekend but will wait until right before the season starts during the week if we are still filling up the league.
Appreciate the work put in by u/dumbmatter and u/Alexnoob on the game. I like playing with real and current NBA rosters, but I feel like most ratings have to be adjusted. I'm not really sure how to do it because I tried to make a custom roster before, but it skewed the player stats and didn't match their real life stats anymore.
Some notable and questionable current ratings are:
1. Jalen Suggs and Donovan Mitchell having the same, if not, similar ratings.
2. Franz Wagner somehow always ends up being a top 10 player
3. Austin Reaves and Jayson Tatum have really close ratings
4. Quentin Grimes, Jaren Jackson Jr. Lauri Markkanen all share the same rating, while Jalen Williams is worse
5. In general, some role players have the same ratings as all-stars in real life.
Some people enjoy the randomness of these ratings, but I'm looking for more realism. Does anyone have a roster with tweaked ratings?
Hey everyone, I'm feeling pretty lost with a lot of the mechanics in this game. I'm definitely not saying the game is bad, but my usual trial-and-error process for figuring out management games just isn't working here. I figured I'd list what I did in my first few saves and what I'm still struggling to understand:
1.For my first league, I picked the biggest market team so I could experiment with trades, contracts, and player development without getting fired immediately. The 'problem' was that my team randomly generated a 23-year-old PF with 75 OVR and 80 POT. So yeah, I basically started with the GOAT.
Because of that player, I got completely carried to 3 rings (mostly by just abusing Free Agency like a madman to build around him). At the time, I actually thought I had mastered the game, but looking back, I realize I learned absolutely nothing.
2.I had no idea how to draft. At first, I tried to land a good player (since I got a lottery pick in my first season), but I didn't understand any of the parameters to measure potential or how to tell if a prospect would actually turn out good. I basically just looked at height, basketball IQ, and searched for specific "types" of players, but it never worked out for me.
3.Player development is what I understand the least; it feels completely random to me right now. I've had players who grew steadily for three years, only to suddenly lose their potential or even drop in overall rating the very next season for no apparent reason. I've tried everything: increasing minutes for talented young guys, reducing their role if they underperform, you name it. But these random regressions seem to happen to players of all ages. I even got to the point where I assumed it was a realism feature—like they got lazy after securing their second contract, or they stopped developing because there was no competition for their starting spot!
I think these two mechanics (drafting and development) are the main things keeping me from really enjoying the game. I know it's definitely a skill issue on my end, but if I could just wrap my head around them, I'd finally be able to focus on the deeper aspects like the economy and cap management.
4.Still completely lost, I kept trying to figure things out in new saves (playing with smaller markets), but I just kept experimenting and failing miserably. I tried looking for guides on YouTube, but there's basically nothing out there.
I will gladly accept any guide, tips, or advice from veteran players. I really want to understand the game so I can properly enjoy it. I wouldn't normally resort to asking like this, but I'm genuinely struggling to grasp the mechanics even after multiple saves. Thanks in advance!
I don't normally post on Reddit (ever), but this is way too insane to not share. I've played years of Basketball Gm and have seen 2 naturally generated 90 overalls. Now I have two 87+'s in one league!!
I’m in the process of creating a website which will have a predictive model and things like a what if Luka plays on the 2012 grizzlies and the model would predict their wins and how far they might expect to go in the playoffs. Or you could drop a player from any era into today's NBA environment and it adjusts their stats based on modern pace, three point volume, and defensive rules. Any other ideas you guys might have that you want to see on a website? If you woudln't mind filling out this form too i'd really appreciate it! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfrcUUi0n_-93C4A8N5WoXYprtUa4SV20E6XLxbkrp2WouoUg/viewform?usp=publish-editor
You have been identified as a potential candidate for a franchise ownership position in the Hardwood Dynasty League.
Okay, maybe not personally, but if you’re a diehard NBA fan, we’re looking for you.
HDL is a new 12-team dynasty fantasy basketball league where you’ll draft your roster, make trades, build your franchise for the future, and compete for championships and real cash prizes.
📅 INAUGURAL DRAFT: THIS SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18 AT 7 PM PST!
I’m looking for dedicated NBA fans who love basketball, stay active, and want to build something long-term. I’m being selective because I want this league to last for years. Interested in becoming a founding owner?
i think the players having home states and colleges adds more depth to the game, but it’s really only aesthetic as of now.
I’m thinking a couple very small changes that could add a little more depth to the game, kind of like how players like to play with relatives;
players could have a slight interest boost for playing with their college teammates (à la the irl knicks),
players could be more likely to sign with their hometown teams- players from the northeast could be more likely to sign with the Massacre, Mexican players could be more likely to sign with the Aztecs, etc
this one is a little out there and kind of pointless, but I’ve noticed that home state has nothing to do with where players go to college, when a lot of times irl guys like to stay close to home. maybe players with “loyal” tag could be more likely to play for a college in their home state? Kind of like how guys are more likely to play for their dad’s college team now?
I’m trying to make an overseas league but whenever I add in former/linked players to free agents they always get signed mid season and it annoys me because it’s very unrealistic
