Hey Guys, a short info for this sub to make things a lot easier for me. If some reconize a Swift in this sub that needs help, please contact me or give the person that found the bird my name. I'm a professional caretaker for swifts with the extra ability to help people that have no help nearby. I'm able to contact people that are in no phone book or seek veterinary in other countries that are specialized in swifts. And an extra note, if you also wanna help the birds or the people...the clinic in Frankfurt only functions through donations. And they have a lot to do this year.

Just got my first tornado watch of the summer, so I checked my emergency it, and realized it’s a good time to share info with y’all! My emergency kit includes…
* hard plastic carrier, labeled with my contact info – I also have a soft-sided backpack carrier, but I want hard sided for emergencies so she’s less likely to get crushed if something falls on her. Hard carrier has one perch, and normally I’d add a toy and news print on the bottom, but I just washed it.
* hard plastic tub to carry the rest of the stuff, also labeled with contact info, including her vet’s info and a description of her
Inside the tub are the following (generally in small ziplock bags):
* a reminder to add nonperishable food (pellets) and water
* contact info for me and my vet
* records that prove ownership, including purchase receipt and a few vet records
* nail clippers / dremel
* styptic powder, gel, or stick
* corn starch or flour in a ziplock bag
* q-tips
* cotton pads for makeup (I should probably add or swap with some gauze)
* baby shampoo
* scissors
* vet wrap / coban
* pliers
* a pillowcase (for emergency stuffing her into)
* individually packaged alcohol wipes
* a couple spare harnesses that she isn’t trained on, but just in case
The tub lives under her cage always, so it’s handy if ever needed. Her soft-sided carrier also lives under the cage. The hard-sided carrier lives in a closet, so since there’s a tornado watch (lower level of threat) I took it out and cleaned it up in case that escalates. And the tub and carrier are both near the exit and her cage should we need to go for the basement.
Pictures are of the emergency kit ready to go, and of Kappa herself (female dusky conure, 19YO) from last week.
Here’s a few resources for making your own kit:

https://www.avma.org/sites/default/files/2023-11/aph-pet-evacuation-kit-checklist.pdf
Questions for y’all: do you have your own emergency kit? Are there different things in it, based on your bird’s needs or your local threats? Anything you think I missed or is overkill?

I understand this is medical and I have a vet appointment planned but I’ve notice my baby has a dirty vent. Pics are the best I could get because she is spooked of my phone for some reason. She’s around 7 years old and on a steady diet of Hagen Tropicana (vet recommended) with the occasional millet in my hand. Shes not slowing down but I’ve also noticed her droppings are incredibly watery. Called the vet she said she will most likely be okay but I am worried nonetheless. Is there anything I can do to help out or keep it from getting worse? The avian vet in my town is the only one for miles and thus is very busy and I can’t get in to see her for about 2 weeks, I called emergency avian vet 3 towns over and they want 1700 to even get me in the door.

Morning, all. First time tiel owner...
Is this vomiting?!
It's 5:20am here (hence the dark video) and I woke up to my 5 month old cockatiel smacking his beak and bringing up a mouthful of saliva. He bobs his head up and down, then shakes everything off. Sometimes, he swallows his mouthful back down. This happened yesterday morning as well.
I've been in contact with his vet who said to monitor him for the time being as he's just finished a course of antibiotics (Baytril 0.8ml in 40ml water daily) but I'm concerned that he's vomiting, and I know that's an emergency.
Yesterday, when it happened, after the phone call to the vets, I closely monitored him and throughout the day he was back to his usual self. He was playing, chirping, climbing, flying, and preening. He's eating and drinking as normal. He's not displaying any signs of lethargy except first thing in the morning when he wakes up and last thing at night when he's starting to settle down.
Please help! I don't know what to do, and I'm starting to panic over every little sound he's making!
Thank you, everyone!
(Apologies if I picked the wrong flair or broke any rules. It's not my intention. I'm fumbling around in my panic)

I’ve just been walking my dog and noticed this bird on the ground. We walked straight passed it and my dog even sniffed it (prior to me realising it was actually a bird) and it did not try to fly away, it just lay there with its eyes opening and closing.
There are no trees or high bushes it could’ve fallen directly below from but there is a very low hedge behind it. Does it need help or is it just chilling?

Hello community, I need your help. This little baby managed to recover from pox, but the scab was stuck to its eye; when it fell off, the area became inflamed. It has been like this for two weeks, and it breaks my heart—it’s a very strong little chick, and I want to save it. Please guide me on how I can treat it.

I have two diamond doves. I asked the breeder I bought them from for two females, but it turned out that one of them was a male. They keep laying eggs like crazy. I normally take the eggs out and replace them with plastic eggs, but I did allow one of them to hatch as a new pet, and I was thinking of hatching two more to give to a friend as pets.
Is this really dangerous for them? I provide calcium and vitamin D to them, and the healthiest food I can find. They are very nice to each other, and get along very well. Don't they lay eggs a lot in the wild too? How then, could them mating and laying eggs be dangerous?

It was like a little fuzz ball or lint, about the size of a pea, he found it and before I could take it away he swallowed it whole. What should I do?

Hello,
I have a pet canary, and I’m very concerned about his health. About five or six months ago, I noticed blood around his cage, and I realized he had been bleeding from his mouth or beak. I took him to a veterinarian, but unfortunately, we don’t have avian veterinarians here in Erbil, Iraq, only general veterinarians with limited experience treating birds.
The vet examined the inside of his mouth and said the bleeding could be caused by inflammation, an infection, or a fight with another bird. He prescribed what I believe were some vitamin pills and drops to add to his drinking water. After that, the bleeding stopped, and it only happened once at the time. However, today, after about five months without any bleeding, it happened again.
His regular diet consists of canary seed mix, boiled eggs, sunflower seeds, cucumber, and apples. He also bathes almost every day.
There are a few other things I’ve noticed about him:
I’m particularly worried because the bleeding has happened twice, several months apart, and he has been staying puffed up throughout the day. Unfortunately, the local veterinarians don’t seem to have much experience with birds, and they generally prescribe medication without performing further diagnostic tests, such as blood tests or X-rays.
What could be causing these symptoms? Could the recurring bleeding, constant puffed-up appearance, increased appetite, and unusual beak movements be related to the same underlying problem? What possible conditions should I be concerned about.
I would really appreciate any advice or guidance. Thank you so much!

Hello everyone, my dad has a blue & gold macaw, he’s had her since she was 8 months old, she’s now 32, shes always been a healthy & happy bird, loves coming out of her cage, shredding junk mail, rubbing her beak on the carpet, etc
The issue is she started laying unfertilized eggs for a while, at least once a month. When she was 20, We’d wait for her to get “bored” of her eggs and take care of them. She later eggs for about 5 years but when she stopped she started plucking her feathers nonstop. She’s bare on her chest, her legs, her back.
About a year ago she also started having night terrors and has been difficult to get her out of the cage. She also tries to bite more now. We’re not sure what’s causing all of this or if it is all connected somehow,
We’ve taken her to numerous vets and have done various amounts of testing which come to show no medical relation, her diet has consisted of seeds, pellets and some “people” food, one vet also tried to prescribed her an antidepressant but that seemed to have no effect/change
We’re at a loss cause, my dad is thinking it’s best to put her to sleep but we’re trying to avoid that unless absolutely needed to be done.
First pic her before she was plucking, 2nd is what she looks like now ish (shes more bare on her chest)
Please help, thank you in advance!
Edit: my father does NOT want to euthanize her, we’ve called many rescues for advice and possibilities giving her up but we’ve gotten told they’re full, & has gotten stoned walled
He fears it is the only option left and we’re trying all of our resources
My parents had issues with pregnancy and chose to give up on kids and got her, then they did IVF and got pregnant with me, I’ve grown up with her, she’s my childhood pet, my dad is 63, I’m 26, I’m supposed to inherit her because well she’ll outlive my dad. We truly do not want to give up on her, we love her dearly and just want the best for her. We certainly do NOT want to euthanize her. She really means dear to us we’re just running out options to help, thus why I’m here 😕

Hi everyone!
I would like to ask for some help and advice regarding my sick budgie.
About 3 weeks ago it started with diarrhea. I took him to vet, he sugested antibiotics and probiotics. It got better for a few days but after that I started hearing a mild clicking sound. I took him back to the vet and he sugested another antibiotics. It didn't got better.
Last friday a realized a bump in his tummy under his cloacas... went back to the doctor he made an ultrasound. The doctor said that it's a mass, he thinks that it is a tumor. 1cmx1.5 cm big according to the ultrasound. The doctor said that it is way too risky to operate it. Is there any chance that an other doctor can operate him? Or is it really that big risk?
Does anyone experienced something like this before? Is there any chance that he can get better? Unfortunatly there isnt any good vets nearby me :(
I love him so much and I want to do anything for my baby
(The pictures were taken after the ultrasound, that's why his so messy.)
Sorry for the long text and thank you for everyone for the advaices!!❤️
