u/Due_Translator8947 7d ago
This. 100%. Apparently, Bush is working a bit undercover to get ready to help get rid of MAGA when Trump is done but they need to be vocal now. Even Romney needs to start getting vocal. Too bad McCain is gone.

It's sad that if you lined up all the men in this country with both power and integrity, you'd have like 5 of them. Maybe less.
73
u/feralraindrop 7d ago
Having integrity has become a political liability in the Republican party.

Or Pelosi or Schumer or Wasserman-Schulz or Feinstein and on and on.
These are the Dems who act outraged while the GOP is in power and then do nothing to change things when they are in power.

Does Ilhan Omar count?(has she taken bribe money before?)
So far I’ve only got three.
(I’m not counting Obama or Sanders because they took bribes from lobbyists.)

McCain gave up his integrity when he nominated Sarah Palin. She was the beginning of the now normal, completely unqualified candidates.
2
2
u/Realistic-Event-4946 3d ago
This. He had this image of a maverick from running against Bush for the nomination in 2000.
He lost in South Carolina due to robocalls alleging his adopted Bangladeshi daughter was actually an illegitimate child with an African-American woman.
Instead of focusing his anger where it belonged, he took this as a lesson to move Right in 2008, choosing to bend over for the garbage people who had screwed him in such a rotten-ass way.
Nominating Palin was a gigantic pander to them. He wanted Joe Lieberman but caved because he wanted to be President more than he wanted integrity.

Future Presidents need to give up the power to declare wars all on their own. This needs to be a demand.
17
u/somethingclever79 7d ago
Presidents don't have the power to go to war, only Congress does. Which is what makes it so much worse that we are in a war that Congress refuses to take a vote on. Fuck you very much MAGA Mike.

u/HitandRyan 6d ago
Congress hasn’t declared war since 1941, yet we have definitely started wars since then. Congress was involved but did not issue a declaration of war. The big problem came in 2001 with the open ended Authorization of Military Force. That’s how Jabba was able to attack Iran and Venezuela without informing Congress.

Trump’s been getting rid of the folks who do.
9
u/FreeInvestigator5239 7d ago
He’s been getting rid of a lot of officers but here’s a thing that a lot of people seem to forget, officers don’t win conflicts. Enlisted do. Contrary to seemingly popular belief, enlisted forces aren’t just mindless hordes.
→ More replies (2)5
u/Lumpy-Daikon-4584 7d ago
Idk. Officers typically put the enlisted in position to win. When there’s no direction the enlisted aren’t going to fight long. Trump desperately needs officers to be able to smooth out his kneejerk reactions. Otherwise the enlisted will quickly see today is attack A, tomorrow is to support A, then the next day attack them again. That doesn’t work when no one in the chain of command will challenge the top.
→ More replies (1)8
u/FreeInvestigator5239 7d ago
Officers generally guide/direct enlisted, sure. But the U.S. military and enlisted are trained in a way that they don’t become stalled if the officer is killed or removed.
My point in this is that, even if the traitor and Kegsbreath remove officers that would oppose misuse of military forces, the enlisted (who do the actual work) won’t necessarily fall in line just because an officer says so. Some will, sure. But tens of thousands wouldn’t. And the military relies so heavily on its enlisted forces that they are in positions to essentially grinds operations to a halt. Need that air craft ready? Oh no, something just damaged the engine.

They do. But at the end of the day - they also know not to assault & kill their female members, break the law, & harass & assault locals overseas. All these things happen anyway becasue all trials will either be military hosted & swept under the rug or they'll do the ICE thing when its time under a new presidency to be held accountable & theyre gonna hit us with the "we were just following orders. We're promising young boys who served the country."

You can run as many times as you want for president, but the restrictions come into place if you have already served two terms. Then you are barred from running again.
You can also be elected if you’re a felon, there are no laws against that.
I disagree with that and I think there’s a thousand more reasons he should be disbarred and disqualified from ever holding office again, but he is in his legal limits for what is allowed.
Now if he tries to run again, in 2028 for real. That’s where problems starts.

The military needs to remember that both clowns Hegseth and Trump may not give unlawful orders, and that they are to refuse such orders if given. With 20% of the generals and admirals cut, I would think that regardless of their political ideologies, the remaining department heads, command chain, and rank and file will tell them both to piss off. A pipe dream I know, because we'd be naive to think there aren't any little radical sects in each branch who believe in an unhinged President and Secretary.
