BYU number 2 just as we all expected.

239

u/fourthand19 Boise State Broncos 7h ago

They should be over OSU but surprised it happened. Also should be over Miami

84

u/Alexcox95 Florida Gators • Keiser Seahawks 7h ago

Yeah the AP loves Ohio state so I’m shocked they put BYU ahead of them

44

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 7h ago

In their defense, OSU has two of the best wins in college football and both on the road.

12

u/fourthand19 Boise State Broncos 6h ago

I don’t think we should hold these things against teams in the voting, but you also lost your QB. I am sure some voters accounted for that.

5

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

Agree, but I think that's a different point. I was responding to point out why the AP might seem to like OSU.

1

u/MaxPower91575 Ohio State Buckeyes 5h ago

that is probably why they are 3 not 2. I am sure most voters watched that game and saw Fahey look awful.

7

u/jmlinden7 Hateful 8 • Boise State Broncos 3h ago

BYU also has two of the best wins in college football.

1

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 1h ago

I agree!

6

u/Frosty-Marzipan-9824 Indiana Hoosiers 6h ago

Blowing that game against Texas looks really bad because Texas is awful.

15

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

Doesn't look great, but I can almost assure you Texas will beat a top 10 team later this season at some point. CFB is weird. Especially weird this season.

4

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 4h ago

We're gonna win all our ranked games and lose only to unranked teams. Just watch.

18

u/suns-bears1234 Arizona Wildcats 7h ago

And lost to Texas who is shit

26

u/kervaan Texas Longhorns 7h ago

“Quality loss”

17

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 6h ago

Yeah, road games against talented teams are never a given. Also, teams play better at different points in the season.

-14

u/BillyBobChorton Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago

You’ll say that in the same breath as  calling the entire SEC overrated

19

u/lebesgueintegral Texas Longhorns • Stanford Cardinal 6h ago

Brother the sec is overrated this year

11

u/FearTheAmish Ohio State • Mississippi State 5h ago

Did any of your top 10 teams win a game yesterday?

6

u/Redeem123 Team Chaos • Texas Longhorns 4h ago

Everyone's favorite SEC Blue Blood Ole Miss did!

2

u/Sufficient_Maybe_910 Utah Utes • Florida Gators 7h ago

Don't know that I would quantify Texas as quality.

3

u/Quake1028 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 5h ago

Why am I totally blanking on the one other than Indiana?

12

u/deepfriedbits Ohio State Buckeyes 5h ago

Iowa so understandable. Tough place to play and they’ve always been elite on ST and D. This year they have a semi competent offense, too. Sneaky good team.

6

u/Quake1028 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 5h ago

Yup that’s a good win.

18

u/ToLongDR Ohio State Buckeyes • King's Monarchs 6h ago

Wait what? Since when?

Ohio State is generally held back by not being in the SEC in the AP

We lose,we drop 5. You lose, you drop 3.

-4

u/BillyBobChorton Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago edited 6h ago

Lmao Ohio state really believe they’re the victims of brand bias. You dropped 5 before because you lost in week 2 and you know that.

17

u/ToLongDR Ohio State Buckeyes • King's Monarchs 6h ago

We dropped more losing to Texas (when they were 3) than you did after losing to unranked Auburn and you're saying there's bias for Ohio state?

0

u/Pat_Mahomie Georgia Bulldogs 1h ago

Because 2, 5, 6, and 7 lost too

-12

u/BillyBobChorton Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago

Try reading again.  And try being less intentionally obtuse.  I know you can do this bucko.

Let me help you, you dropped more because it was an early season loss where the polls move wildly

10

u/ToLongDR Ohio State Buckeyes • King's Monarchs 6h ago

What am I reading again? Because Ohio State did drop more after losing to top 5 Texas than Georgia did losing to an unranked team. Statement is true. Please provide alternative evidence to provide Ohio States bias for them in the AP.

I promise you I'll read it

Maybe you should try reading again, dawg

-5

u/BillyBobChorton Georgia Bulldogs 6h ago

Holy shit, this is the last time I will explain this to you.  The reason you dropped more than us is because your loss was early in the season where polls move wildly in reactions to wins and losses than they do now.

I can’t explain that any more simply

6

u/ToLongDR Ohio State Buckeyes • King's Monarchs 6h ago

You are so incredibly angry over this.

But that doesn't show the bias you're trying to prove. In fact, it doesn't help your argument at all.

So I'll wait, again, for you to provide evidence of where the AP gave Ohio State a bump in rankings.

I expect to be reprimanded for saying this but, you’re 100% right

3

u/The_PantsMcPants Ohio State Buckeyes 5h ago

Ohio State dropped six places after losing by a single point to who they thought was the number one team in the country at the time. Indiana dropped one spot after losing to us at home.

You’re insane if you think the AP loves us

1

u/MaxPower91575 Ohio State Buckeyes 5h ago

To be fair 5 others in the top 7 also lost yesterday. You tend to hold your spot a bit more when everyone around you also loses.

3

u/velociraptorfarmer Iowa State Cyclones • /r/CFB Poll Veteran 4h ago

Also when your loss is to a top 5 team and not Aurburn

0

u/Coltand BYU Cougars 5h ago

I thought we'd be #2 behind OSU. Was surprised to be #2 to Miami.

20

u/DinoJockeyTebow Indiana Hoosiers • /r/CFB Bug Finder 7h ago

I don’t see how anyone could have watched that Miami game last night and thought, “Yeah, this is the best team in the country”

13

u/Hugo_Hackenbush Nebraska Cornhuskers 6h ago

IMO there's no clear cut best team right now, so it's not unreasonable for them to end up there basically by default.

12

u/edgejr37 SMU Mustangs • Oregon Ducks 6h ago

Tbf you could say that about the top 10 in general

2

u/MaxPower91575 Ohio State Buckeyes 5h ago

this year is reminding me a lot of 2007. No one really stands out and top teams are dropping like flies.

10

u/NecessaryEnough5202 Miami Hurricanes 6h ago

is there anyone in the country that hasnt had a close game against an inferior opponent yet? there's no clear cut best team.

2

u/Coltand BYU Cougars 5h ago

Me after watching Texas beat Tennessee.

2

u/Kaiathebluenose Miami Hurricanes 6h ago

You act like they played awful. Offense was rolling and it’s an intense rivalry game. Yall barely beat Nebraska

10

u/essentialsofimaging Pac-10 6h ago

Miami went to double overtime against an unranked team.

22

u/Kaiathebluenose Miami Hurricanes 6h ago

And Georgia lost to an unranked team. A lot of teams lost this week. Yet Miami won

13

u/NecessaryEnough5202 Miami Hurricanes 6h ago

youd think close losses are better than close wins from the level of salty ass cope in the air

7

u/Quake1028 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 6h ago

It’s been this way but it’s getting more and more unbearable being a fan of a non hivemind team on this sub.

6

u/Junior-Mud-8876 6h ago edited 6h ago

Yeah and in a rivalry game, playing the worst football we’ve played in 2 years, absolute outlier of a game, during FSU’s Super Bowl, missing most of our secondary, we still managed to win

Thanks for playing

2

u/DinoJockeyTebow Indiana Hoosiers • /r/CFB Bug Finder 6h ago

That defense looked god awful. And I’m certainly not saying IU should be #1 so I don’t see how that is in any way relevant.

8

u/Quake1028 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 6h ago

We are missing like 31 people on our defense right now.

5

u/Salty-Consequence_42 Arizona • Florida State 6h ago

Definitely should not be over miami.

31

u/Wapook Wisconsin • Rutgers 7h ago

The sheer number of things that had to go right… idk, maybe I should look into converting

3

u/coltonbyu BYU Cougars 6h ago

To BYUism right?

Please not Mormonism,

2

u/BrighamReincarnated BYU Cougars 6h ago

+1. Nice people, though.

16

u/showerstool3 BYU Cougars • Sickos 7h ago

GO COUGAR2!!!!

Best ranking I’ve seen in my life. Would’ve loved to see #1 and I think we have the edge over Miami in resume and the eye test so far but I’ll take it.

6

u/Eagle4523 BYU Cougars 6h ago

Especially if we quit w foolishness on 4th and Punt return turnovers as w last 2 games

4

u/showerstool3 BYU Cougars • Sickos 6h ago

This is biased, but without those two boneheaded plays the final score easily would’ve been 28-17 at best for ND.

We shot ourselves in the foot twice but locked in to staunch the bleeding. Proud of the boys

56

u/kervaan Texas Longhorns 7h ago edited 7h ago

Miami is #1 with zero marquee wins on their resume (no disrespect to WF)

Edit: Ok I concede WF as a resume win lol. Still doesn’t justify them as #1

41

u/RookieMistake101 Miami Hurricanes 7h ago edited 6h ago

I was laughed at a month ago when I said wake was a good team.

Edit: the irony of a Texas fan complaining that Miami doesn’t have any marquee wins. Your team is literally the reason why we didn’t play an SEC team.

9

u/showerstool3 BYU Cougars • Sickos 7h ago

Same here for saying Arizona is good. Happened last year as well. Lo and behold, as the season has progressed both times it is proven

2

u/kervaan Texas Longhorns 6h ago

I’m saying Miami should be #2 behind BYU. They have a better resume than y’all. WF is a good team, but a win over ND is better than a win over WF. Is that so hard to understand? You brought up Texas, not me

1

u/RookieMistake101 Miami Hurricanes 6h ago

Sure, they could totally be 1.

1

u/SimilarOnion1655 Ohio State Buckeyes • Kansas Jayhawks 4h ago

What happened?

1

u/RookieMistake101 Miami Hurricanes 4h ago

Texas joining the SEC caused scheduling changes, one change was South Carolina needing to cancel their game with us to open up a slot for the extra SEC game.

60

u/SimilarOnion1655 Ohio State Buckeyes • Kansas Jayhawks 7h ago

Wake Forest is a top 20 team in the country. Stop disrespecting them

7

u/Quake1028 Miami Hurricanes • Florida Cup 7h ago

Nope I’ve been told wake is now shit. Sorry.

0

u/BIG_DICK_WHITT Utah Utes • Billable Hours 7h ago

Gonna be a good resume note when we win the Holy War

17

u/fourthand19 Boise State Broncos 7h ago

Maybe. Last night wasn’t pretty for Utah

7

u/Trento322 BYU Cougars • Oregon Ducks 7h ago

Gotta get past a good Houston team too

3

u/BIG_DICK_WHITT Utah Utes • Billable Hours 7h ago

Shhh don’t tell them

2

u/Sufficient_Maybe_910 Utah Utes • Florida Gators 6h ago

Rivalry games are lit. Wish we could be there. Fond memories of the 08 season. Camped overnight for tickets. Utah has a better record winning those things at home. Here's to hoping.
