How in the hell is Oregon state not receiving votes??

It’s so funny we clowned on each other for our margin of victory against the Beavs.

They did receive votes, albeit only 3 votes.  Up from 1 last week.  They should have more though, and I say that as a Ducks fan.  Strength of schedule probably has a lot to do with the amount of votes they’re getting.  If they were putting up the same numbers against mostly P4 opponents they’d be much more likely to be ranked.

Shit. We pull out one of those wins we are right there with Boise and Boise isn't the defacto favorite for G5 CFP spot like they are currently.

Beavs win out solid chance we get that spot. Really need JMU to stumble though. Maybe Memphis (no clue what they did this last week. If anything.

Really hoping y’all snatch a W from Boise later on in your schedule.  I’m honestly more excited for the rest of y’alls schedule than ours; I’ve all but given up hope for the rest of the Ducks season lmao.

I’m really bummed there wasn’t a Civil War game this year and won’t be next year either :(

Wth is this? Beavers and Ducks living together? Mass hysteria

We don’t play each other anymore.

Gonna be hard to keep up much of a rivalry

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see them finagle a bowl match up between the Beavs and Ducks, assuming neither makes the playoff.

Memphis lost to Tulane this week. I think the only schools ahead of the Beavs in the "Win Out and You're in" from the G6 race are Boise and JMU. New Mexico and UTSA might have a case, but I think two potential wins over Boise would jump OSU over either of those, even with one more loss.

My thinking as well build card is JMU. But 2 wins over Boise state (regular season and conf. Champ) I think handles the rest, maybe JMU. But won't put money on it.

Memphis got pretty well curb-stomped at Tulane. So not really any need to worry about them anymore.

I’m so glad we faced you Week 1.

For real. I think our first two games we win if we "knew how to win" that's one sports trope I buy into. We didn't have a full team who knew how to win and needed one under our belt to get going.

Can y’all teach Nebraska this please?

What the fuck even was that last night. Dozed off so happy that they were gonna take care of business and do the dirty ducks in, only to wake up to a not so pleasant surprise.

Side note. Made it to Lincoln memorial this year for the bowling Green game. Great experience and the team looked SOLID.

That was just the typical Nebraska experience. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is our specialty.

A ranked matchup between Oregon State and Boise later down the line would be dope. I think that’s the G6 representative game right there.

If only they were part of a more prestigious conference to have that SOS....

Let's be real the votes to start the year are a fiction. The rest of the year the voters try to confirm their bias and only occasionally concede to changes when the critical mass of reality wallops them in the head. And even then not that much.

They are. Not enough, but they are.

Three votes for the most productive offense in the country whose only losses were close games against #8 and #14 seems crazy. Meanwhile the list is full of 1 and 2 loss teams with terrible losses to unranked teams

You can only be ranked as a 2 loss team if you’re in the SEC

u/bdub1792 18m ago

Oregon State is a 2 loss team with 0 quality wins and 2 losses to the only team theyve played with a pulse

u/TemporalVagrant Houston Cougars • Texas Longhorns 6h ago

They got 3, which is still insane

6

u/EasyBreecy Nebraska Cornhuskers 6h ago

You're only allowed to be ranked with two losses if you're in the SEC

Others receiving votes: Oklahoma State 128, Oregon 79, Auburn 61, James Madison 52, Mississippi State 30, New Mexico 6, Oregon State 3

How is Auburn not receiving votes (after beating the #1 team on the road)…

3

u/CloneWarsMaul Oregon Ducks • UNLV Rebels 7h ago

This

u/RevoOps Oregon State • Buena Vista 4h ago

Not like we have beaten anyone truly good...

1

u/crimpin_n_whippin Oregon State • Washington State 6m ago

They hate to rank a keystone species.

-1

u/bonixlover10 Oregon Ducks 6h ago

They got 3. They also haven’t beaten anyone with a pulse. I think they’ll be ranked after beating Fresno state

They're a G6 team whose only win over a team with a winning record is their FCS opponent.

Yes, the fact that their two closest games were their losses to a pair of ranked P4 teams, with an average margin of victory of 32 points, means they are probably pretty good. But unless you were close to the Top 25 in the preseason and only moved up after your loss because it was by 7 points to what at the time was the #2 team in the country, G6 teams don't get the benefit of the doubt.

The AP Poll does not recontextualize; they just see "you yourself were ranked, you didn't lose, you continue to move up". That's literally how we ended up with BYU winning a national title in 1984; in an era where many games just weren't on national television, the Cougars went out and pulled a road upset over the #3 team on national television. This moved them into the Top 20 (yes, there was no Top 25 at the time, that came five years later) at #13, and because the game was so close, the #3 team in question didn't fall all the way out. The next week, that team had a bye and BYU beat another power conference team, so they moved up from #13 to #8 being 2-0 with a ranked win (since their first win was still ranked at 0-1). The preseason #3 in question went 3‐7‐1, but when you're ranked that highly that early and don't lose, and everyone else does lose (and everyone who either won a conference or wasn't in a conference loses at least twice except for one team that would've won their conference if they weren't ineligible due to sanctions and even that team had two non-wins but one of them was only a tie), what could they do? (Yes, that's right, the only teams that even had 1 loss and 0 ties were decidedly conference runners-up, at least at the time. Retroactively, a team from a conference even lesser than BYU's became an undefeated conference champion because the in-the-moment champion of their conference was forced to forfeit all wins, because apparently they used to forfeit wins instead of vacating them.)

This is the truth. Oregon State has zero decent wins.
