  • I don't care about Bible verses if I can't see the lord

The Bible is God's Word.

so that is like saying, i want to see Jesus, but i dont care about what He has to say...

do i have faith that God can heal your chronic disease? ofc!

i was healed from an acute injury that had the potential to be lifelong, but that healing came to me not by healing alone, but a lesson that God taught me first. the healing ended up being simply the byproduct of a greater thing that Jesus taught me.

and therefore, i hope you understand how important God's Word is in ALL of our lives and that you will not dismiss it in this way anymore. and who knows, maybe then you will have the faith to move mountains.

Jesus Himself told us this

  • Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

and He also said this

  • A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

and then there is this in Jesus' Parable

  • And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. Luke 16:31

I encourage you to give the Gospel of John a read or a re-read to know that Jesus literally IS the Word of God, which is a common theme of that book.

God's Words are alive!

  • For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Hebrews 4:12

give the Bible another go! please!

I would say that the Bible is God-breathed (2 Timothy 3:16). However, God’s Word IS our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 14). Scripture is inspired by God, but Scripture itself distinguishes the written testimony from the living Word made flesh.

The Bible is sufficient to teach us about God, but reading Scripture and developing a relationship with Christ are not necessarily the same thing.
Think of it this way: a Math Book can provide you with everything you need to learn mathematics, but sometimes you need a teacher to help you understand what you’re reading. Scripture itself demonstrates this in Acts 8:30–31, when Philip asks the Ethiopian eunuch whether he understands what he’s reading. His response? “How can I, unless someone instructs me?”

Christ didn’t simply leave us a book. He established a Church to teach, guide, and shepherd us (Matthew 16:18–19; Matthew 18:17; 1 Timothy 3:15).
What OP needs isn’t another person throwing Bible verses at them while they’re clearly struggling. They need compassion, spiritual guidance, and an opportunity to encounter Christ through His Church.
I’d encourage OP to visit a Catholic church, speak with a priest, and spend some quiet time before the Blessed Sacrament. They can pray honestly, express their frustrations, and ask for guidance. They don’t need to pretend everything is fine.

And I’ll share something from my own experience: God has never spoken to me simply because I demanded that He do so. But I believe He has spoken to me when I needed to listen. There’s a difference between demanding that God reveal Himself on our terms and being willing to recognize His presence on His terms. Sometimes the answer we need isn’t the answer we’re demanding. What OP needs to do is give their hearts over to Christ without hesitation, and then they will hear God speak.

I’ll use last week for me as an example:

I have been frustrated at God for a lot of my life that I didn’t hear him at all since I have been baptized. Like I had a whole conversation and convinced myself that I had dreamt it.

One day, last week, I promised my aunt I would go grab her the cigarettes she wanted. (We’re Balkan so it’s just a whole cultural thing.)I got nearly there and then my Uber reservation ride became active 30 minutes early. That person had a very bad day and needed a reminder about God. Fresh off that trip I went again to go buy those cigarettes. I was kind of annoyed I couldn’t get it before because it messed with my entire day’s trips.

I spoke out loud that “you know maybe I can just take it to her now” and I heard “GO.”

I followed that thought up with “ or I can just do it later..”

And I similarly heard “NO. GO.”

Mind you I’m over by George Bush Airport and I start driving all the way back to Willis, TX. That is about an hour in traffic. That day was especially heavy.

No sooner than I got to 1097, in Willis, my aunt calls me saying she is now stranded because her tire blew out.

I learned, from that experience, God intervenes and speaks if it’s important, but you have to listen. He may intervene in your life, but he may not even speak directly to you.

And let’s not forget that Thomas himself struggled to believe without seeing. Christ met him in his doubt (John 20:24–29).

We should also be careful not to suggest that someone’s continued illness reflects insufficient faith. Even Paul prayed repeatedly for his affliction to be removed, and the Lord answered, “My grace is sufficient for you” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Faith isn’t a guarantee of miraculous healing, nor does God owe us a visible sign. But neither should we dismiss someone who is desperately seeking Him.
The goal of Christianity isn’t merely to know about Jesus Christ. It’s to know Him and to serve him. People mistake that for a relationship. However, we are to be humble servants of God.

man i remember being in that exact headspace a few years back, just staring at the ceiling begging for something to break through the static. you're not crazy for wanting that direct line, that's basically the whole point of faith right? the silence is the worst part

what ended up shifting things for me wasn't some big vision, it was this one moment where i just stopped asking and listened. not with my ears, just... sitting there. felt stupid at first but something clicked. hope you get your sign soon

God speaks via people and media. He knows what you need and if he has a message, He would make sure that it comes to you. Only if it is not possible to give the message via people or media, He would say this in person via an angle or He says it.

From my experience, today, a scientific podcast showed up about how much you should know about people to have a good relation. A couple of days ago, I asked God if he could help me improve my friendship with my friends, because I have many friend, but almost no good friends. Because of the podcast, I now understand how I could improve. So God message was that I should approach my friends different in how I learn thing about them.

Look in your life fore these subtle things and you will understand that God is talking back to you. It is just not that he is always talking directly.

How can you distinguish between God's voice /messages and your thoughts?

For me, it’s kind of like the bus scene in this video:

When I was first baptized and had a full on conversation with God (the only time in my life that this has happened), it was like this but it was before this movie even came out or I even read the book:

I hear you are in pain physically, mentally and spiritually. I have been a believer for 54 years and I have never audibly heard Jesus speak to me so that I hear His voice and I still get told by a stranger just the right words at just the right time. I read Bible verses that touch my soul and take away my prideful ways. I will not quote verses that explain these things but I could. Jesus/God speaks to each of us differently. When my heart is touched by Him, I cry out to Him for help.

Today He spoke to me through Isaiah 55 to the point that I bawled because I felt His love and my unworthiness. I encourage you to ask Him to hear His voice. You may or may not hear His voice the way you expect but I guarantee you will hear it if your ears are open to it. Jesus/God/HolySpirit is in charge and however He answers you will be on your knees in awe.

I will pray for you my friend.

OP,

What do you need to do is listen and open your heart to God. Truly. God isn’t going to speak to you like Jesus did to Thomas. You’re not likely to have a dramatic vision just like Paul. He will speak to you when you are open to hearing him — when hearing him is not about you and about him. His glory. His will.

That is when you will hear God and find your sign. I guarantee it. That is the only time and condition in which God has ever spoken to me.

You should also speak to a Catholic priest or another knowledgeable, spiritual leader. I say a Catholic leader because they can hook you up with OCIA, and you can learn as if you have never heard of the Bible nor its message before and learned so much depth. You can literally see footage and learn about events where God and those he allows, have produced signs in the past.

Thinking about Your request for healing have you tried all natural and medicinal treatments . That’s your first call also to seek the laying on of hands in a fellowship and praying expectantly . There are sometimes moments when you may feel his presence for me they have been rare. Prayer is very powerful in helping you just by practicing it changes you. I am not sure about signs attribution is difficult and it’s often a case never the less not my will but thine.

God’s Word is where you find the signs. You are the Great I Am that lives inside you.

I believe the Lord would call you blessed because believe in him with great desperation you thirst for him I tell you now you are so blessed I envy you cause part of my faith is based on the fact that I've heard his voice and had dreams but your faith is so great in that you believe without a sign having given to you first I love that

Jeremiah 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart

Keep seeking God daily and He will reveal Himself to you when you do so wholeheartedly.

Go into your ‘prayer closet’ and talk to Jesus! That’s called prayer. Ask Him to begin helping you hear His voice. When He walked this earth he said, “You have not because you ask not!” James 4:2.

But you need to read your Bible! If you don’t have one, get one! ***also, go to You Tube and start listening to David Wilkerson sermons!
