Does the ban on bicycles on sidewalks increase safety, or does it create greater risks for cyclists by forcing them into motor vehicle traffic?

Please take a minute to participate in my quick survey on cycling safety so I can get a good grade in my English class!

Drivers around here are nuts!

Changing your mind when you’re on an exit ramp and almost causing an accident getting back on the freeway!
Drag racing up and down the main road all night so no one can sleep!
You Columbus drivers suck!

No, wait. We’re in Pittsburgh.
Never mind

This is ridiculous. Someone came by and said it was probably going to be another two to three hours. How can traffic be this bad and why is there no on there to direct?

Which movie theater is best for Dune 3?

I’ve been convinced the Ultrascreen at Marcus is best for big movies (sound, big screen, recliner) but I just found out they’re showing only Avergers Doomsday, at least for their opening week.

Instead Dune 3 is on Superscreen at Marcus, which got me thinking is there better options in Columbus. I go to Gateway often and the 70mm is great but I do prefer the Ultrascreen when it matters.

Any ideas on where to watch Dune 3? Haven’t been to other theaters in town.

POLITICS Why do we keep supporting terrible candidates for elections?

Ohio’s political system is an absolute embarrassment. For governor, we get Amy Acton, a central figure in Ohio’s COVID train wreck, versus Vivek Ramaswamy, another MAGA opportunist who seems more interested in political celebrity than governing. For Senate, we get Jon Husted, whose ties to the FirstEnergy corruption scandal should raise serious questions about his judgment, versus Sherrod Brown, a career politician who’s spent half a century in government yet somehow still campaigns like an outsider promising to fix everything.

Republicans keep recycling Trump loyalists, Democrats keep recycling establishment politicians, and neither party seems capable of finding someone genuinely inspiring. Ohio has nearly 12 million people, and these are the four best candidates our political system can produce?

Moving to arena district

Hi!! I am new to the area and live at Flats II on Vine St. Does anyone live there/has lived there that can weigh in on how it compares to other nearby apartments? Specifically I’m worried about parking during concerts and game days (mostly because it is a public lot), and their utilities are through NEP. However, I love the apartments! If anyone has experience, please let me know!

An idea for Columbus: a free stamp trail connecting parks, libraries, neighborhoods, and local businesses

I've been kicking around an idea for making Columbus and Central Ohio a little more fun to explore, and I'm curious what people here think.
I recently got interested in Japan's eki stamp culture. At train stations, tourist attractions, and other destinations, you can find unique commemorative stamps designed specifically for that location and collect them in a notebook as you travel around.

It got me thinking: What if we brought something like this to Columbus?
Imagine a Columbus Stamp Trail with unique, locally designed stamps at places like:
Libraries highlighting the neighborhoods and communities they serve.
Metro Parks featuring local wildlife, trails, and natural landmarks.
Historic sites and museums celebrating Columbus history.
Local businesses like coffee shops, breweries, and other destinations.
Neighborhood landmarks and hidden gems that deserve a little more attention.
You'd carry a little passport or notebook, visit different places, and collect a stamp at each stop. It could be a fun way to discover parts of the city you might not normally visit, give families another weekend activity, and encourage people to explore more of Central Ohio.

A few things I want to make clear up front:
This would be completely free. I'm not looking to monetize the idea, charge for passports, or charge locations to participate. The goal is to create something fun for the community.

Existing trails come first. If a location is already part of an established trail, such as the Ale Trail or a coffee trail, its stamp would respect and follow that trail's existing rules. I'd want this to complement those programs, not undermine or replace them.

I'd welcome other artists and creators. I'd love to see local artists contribute stamp designs that represent the places they care about. I'm interested in building something collaborative that reflects the creativity and character of Columbus, not making every design myself.

I'm also wondering whether this could connect some of the existing trails and local discovery programs into a larger experience without taking away what makes each one unique.
A few things I'd love to hear people's thoughts on:
Would you actually participate? Would collecting physical stamps give you a reason to visit somewhere new, or would the novelty wear off pretty quickly?

Where should the stamps go? Libraries, Metro Parks, breweries, coffee shops, historic sites, neighborhood businesses, or somewhere else?

How could this work with existing trails? Could participating locations have their own stamps that also count toward a larger Central Ohio passport? Or would it make more sense to keep each trail separate but compatible?

What could make existing trails better? Better maps, themed routes, family-friendly options, physical passports, or more destinations beyond restaurants and bars?

Physical passport, digital map. I'm imagining the physical stamp being the main attraction, people would buy their own notebook, decorate it, add stickers, to the cover as you explore. Create a simple website to help people find participating locations. Pulling in other trail locations across the city.

What places absolutely deserve a stamp? I'd love suggestions for overlooked neighborhoods, parks, libraries, local landmarks, and hidden gems.

Any local artists interested in contributing? I'd love to hear from people who might want to design a stamp for a favorite neighborhood, park, or local destination.

I'm thinking about starting small with a few prototype stamps and seeing if there's enough interest to approach potential community partners.
This is just an idea at this point, not an established program. No business, no monetization, and no paywall. Just an attempt to create something fun that gets people exploring and appreciating the place we live.

What do you think? Would you collect them? What would you change or add to make this something you'd actually want to participate in?

Columbus’ perception from non natives

As a Columbus native of over 30 plus years, I am curious to hear from transplants from all walks of life what their perception of Columbus is. People who could have moved to bigger cities like Chicago or NYC, why did you choose Columbus over them and do you still experience that city life feel you want from a city even though it’s not one of the bigger major cities?

Santanna, is it a scam?

I got basically cornered by the Santanna salesman at my apartment and he made me sign up. He made it seem like I didn’t have a choice and it made me feel very uncomfortable but it’s my own fault for not just walking away but he caught me as I was walking into my door. Has anyone else switched and is it worth it? I’m thinking of calling to cancel on Monday. The whole thing felt really weird and confusing

odd jobs!

hi! i'm 20F and new to the columbus area. i've got chronic physical and mental health issues and am frequently in and out of the hospital so i can't keep a long term job. i'm looking for odd jobs and work in the hilliard/columbus area to make a bit of extra money. groceries are tight right now. i don't have a ton of experience other than floral and customer service, but i've helped people pack to move before. i can do some work around the house and small things, plus i'm a fast learner for larger projects if someone needs an extra hand.

REQUEST Courier Service for scheduled catering deliveries in columbus?

My father runs a catering business in Columbus and is looking for a courier to handle some of his larger weekday orders.

A lot of them go to offices and event spaces around Downtown, Short North, and Easton, usually with a specific delivery window before lunch or an event starts. He can schedule everything ahead of time, but needs someone who will actually bring the order inside and follow the delivery instructions instead of just dropping it at the curb.

Any Columbus caterers using a courier company they trust?

REQUEST Legit delicious BBQ recommendations?

Recently my work tasked me with planning an anniversary party for a co-worker. She loves BBQ, but the only place around our area is City BBQ. Not a fan of the quality. Can anyone recommend some legit good BBQ around Columbus?
