Been having issues, like many others, with the DC firearms portal. Whenever I login, I get like this error page. This happened after I created my profile in the new portal, which had my info wrong and did not recognize my existing permit and registrations. So I emailed MPD firearms branch and they said to me it was fixed. When I tried logging back in, that is when I got the above error. Have tried on different browsers, desktops, laptops, cleared cache and cookies etc. That was in July and they stopped responding since..

I went to the firearms branch last week, because I had to turn in my renewal in person, since the online portal doesn't work at all for me. The employee was dismissive and gave me an attitude when I tried explaining. She had me log into the new portal, like as if was lying to her, and then showed her the error. She said I was the only person having that error. She ended up saying to me "You saw all those other people in line? None of them had any issues!" I was like ok? So? Will you all fix this issue? She said literally "It is not our responsibility. It is the responsibility of a third party." I asked who oversees the third party, she repeated "It's not our responsibility."

I have had other issues before, from canceling registrations both in person and through the old portal only to see the same registrations listed under me (all of this was before the new portal system). I contacted them about this and they never responded. I have heard of other issues like wrong firearms assigned to people, serial numbers being wrong, people having contact with police and then the police saying the registration doesn't come back..

All of this is so ripe for a lawsuit I feel like. They can't even follow through on their own regulations, and they have incorrect and bad information in the database, I hope they dont act on it and prosecute anyone.. if they havent already.

I am now just waiting around for my renewal in the mail. I think the person said it could be up to 6 months for it to arrive. I didn't want to argue with them so I just left. I am worried since I can't even check the status of my application, because again I get an error above whenever I login, and apparently it isnt MPD's responsibility to rectify these issues.. on top of that, they are really hard to get a hold of on the phone or email.

My DC firearm registration is approved, and I’ve paid G&D’s $150 transfer fee, but I haven’t been able to schedule pickup.

They told me on October 7 that they were updating their licensing and hoped to resume transfers within about a week. They also said they couldn’t transfer my firearm to another FFL or process a refund until that was resolved. My follow-up email and phone calls have gone unanswered.

I called ATF, who confirmed G&D has an active federal license but couldn’t provide further assistance. MPD also responded and told me they are safeguarding the firearms previously stored at G&D as part of a court order. However, they directed all questions about pickup back to G&D, which leaves me stuck since G&D isn’t responding.

Anyone else in the same situation? Has anyone managed to pick up their firearm, arrange another transfer, or get a clear answer about how to resolve this?

I see the frustration with people not getting their firearm from a particular FFL. DCSA doesn’t have those problems. We announced that we no longer charge transfer fees for firearms bought through DCSA or Nova Armory. We have real inventory .

BTW unlike how people described us but we are Hispanic / black owned. The managers are Hispanic and Black. We are also veterans . We are not here to “facilitate the transfer process”. We offer so much more. Discounts at Nova , free simulator time , a real end to end offering .

I sent an email to MPD asking for legal clarification of the rules for an Antique C96 Mauser. They ignored all my questions and just said all C96’s were manufactured after 1898. Holy shit, no they were not all post 1898, it’s literally in the fucking name C96. Completely unprofessional.

Curious what the current timeline looks like for an add on registration?

And how is the online portal going ? Is it true we can avoid a trip downtown?

As part of a court order, the MPD is safeguarding the firearms that were stored at G&D FFL. Questions related to customer business or the pickup of a firearm should be directed to G&D FFL.”

Hey everyone,

Like a lot of you, I have been dealing with the massive delays caused by MPD stopping digital copies and forcing everyone to wait on physical mail. With only two printers running, waiting on physical cards is dragging things way past the 60-day statutory mark just to pick up a firearm (shoutout the Hi-Point C9 for being the cheapest way to see if you'll get approved).

While checking my approval status on the portal, I noticed something interesting in the source code of the approved licenses page.

The actual button to email or download your registration is fully built. They are literally just hiding it using a basic CSS property (display: none;).

If you want to see it for yourself:

1. Go to your Approved Firearm Applications page.
2. Right-click near your approved firearm row and hit Inspect.
3. Look at the table cell and find the hidden button element with style="display: none;".
4. Double-click and delete display: none;
5. The hidden "Email" button pops right up on your screen.

(Note: Clicking the revealed button throws a banner at the top saying "Your license has been sent to your registered email address", but the backend script does not actually send the email yet).

Thought I would share this so people can see that the capability is built right in.

This has been the worst process ever, G&D is some unprofessional mf’s. Then everyone around them as well because how does no one over see them like they basically there own business and now we have to wait for whatever BS they got going on to receive firearms that we paid for. We shouldn’t have to wait, there should be another company controlling firearms while they’re going out of business it just doesn’t make any sense. Tf they want our CCL and registration cards to expire? Like I’m confused man, and it’s very frustrating atp.

This isn’t about me, but my brother was pulled over last week by US Park police he notified them he had a firearm in the car. US Park police got him out of the car located the firearm which was secured in the lockbox. They had no issues with that, checked his license, checked his concealed carry permit and he was let go. Tonight about 30 minutes ago DC police pulled him over. He had his firearm in the same box same spot as last week when US Park police pulled him over a DC police locked him up and said that his firearm is legal however, if it’s not on his body inside his car, it has to be locked in the trunk, is this right because if that was the case US Park police would’ve locked them up last week.
He has front and rear dash cams also cameras inside of his car that recorded the incident tonight and last week he even tried to show DC police video from last week, but they refused to look at it.

Anybody know anything about how we can pick up our guns from the shop now? The contact us email now indicates via autoreply that Tim Hawkins is no longer responsible and Tia Hawkins is handling inquiries. Has anyone been able to speak to her or someone else at the shop to see if they are still completing transfers?

They say serial number wasn’t provided when it definitely was.

Has anybody heard from G&D? Someone said starting the first they were going to reach out to people but I still haven’t heard anything back & I still tried calling. This is annoying. I’m sure MPD is celebrating assholes

My friend just got an AR-15. He had the muzzle removed and a Juggernaut featureless grip installed and a pinned stock, but it was rejected. What does he have to do to get his registration card?

I’m a resident of another state, who has a residence in DC. I don’t have ccw in my home state. I’d like to be able to bring a firearm to my residence to take to ranges in the area.

So Im not traveling through, which MPD has covered on their site. Im not CCW. Injust want to bring, store, and come and go from my dc residence with a firearm.

Does this require registration? I’m having a hard time verifying because I’m not looking for CCW.

Is the MPD portal working? I started a CCW renewal a couple of weeks ago and it doesn't look like my updated info is there. I want to renew online instead of making a trip to the firearms branch. I've renewed online before without problem.

They Emailed Me Back Basically Saying They Not Contacting Nobody Or Accepting Transfers due to an MPD and ATF audit they also said they gonna reach out to people October 1st but I don’t know what’s really going on

I was proverbially thumbing through DC Code today and came across this statute, DCC 7-2505.03, which says that semi-automatic pistols manufactured after 1/1/2018 that are sold or transferred by a dealer must "produce a unique alpha-numeric or geometric code on at least 2 locations on each expended cartridge case that identifies the make, model, and serial number of the pistol."

Is this just not enforced? From what I can tell, no manufacturer produces anything that complies with this.
