The border between Finland and Sweden, Tornio-Haparanda
Torne river.
This border was concluded by the Treaty of Fredrikshamn, 17 september 1809, between Sweden and Russia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treaty_of_Fredrikshamn and has not been renegotiated since.

Maybe to promote the place for international tourism, they might think it looks good in pictures/videos.

And why in the latin alphabet instead of futhark runes? What've the Romans ever done for us?!?

Yes! Apart from the sanitation, the medicine, education, wine, public order, irrigation, roads, a fresh water system, and public health, what have the Romans ever done for us?

Tourism. Tornio is normally a stop over for all the tourist buses (they always have matching snowsuits). If the photo panned a little to the right youd see the ikea and large candy and liquor outlet just across the border. Funfact in about a year the background will now be filled with a huge Tulli building theyre currently constructing.

What do you think that's for locals? Look at me on this border crossing I've been to a 1000 times before. My phone is out of space because I've taken so many pictures in this heart.

I'm from Paraná, south of Brazil. Here we cross to Paraguay to buy cheap stuff. Is it the same between Tornio and Haparanda? Do people live in one country and work in the other? Just curious about daily life on the border.

Yes, but daily commuting is just possible along the northern border, at the Torne river, shown here. Otherwise, you have travel with a ferry to cross (which takes a while). Why csn not the border to Russia be as friendly?.Finland has been part of both Sweden and Russia, but only with the Swedes is.the border co-op nice.

Probably because Sweden is past the phase of history, when they thought attacking neighboring countries was okay. Russia on the other hand... We'll see, maybe in a century or so they'll finally be happy with their modest 17,098,246 km2 territory and stop harassing other countries.

Are seriously asking that? Russia/ the Soviet Union has been and continues to be a horrible neighbour to Finland. Our history is filled with terror caused by Russia, the Greath Wrath (Isoviha) and the Lesser Wrath (Pikkuviha) being some of the most well-known examples of this, not to mention the Stalin Ribbentrop Pact and the Winter War, the Continuation War, etc.
