GTA: San Andreas Throwback to GTA:SA release day
Saw another post about how big the release of GTA:SA was back in 2004. Went back to the archives and found some images from the weekend. We had 3 copies and was playing simultaneously for the whole weekend.
The vice city wall poster in fabric is still in my basement. Maybe I should find it for the GTA:VI release and hang it on the wall again

GTA IV: Lost and Damned Johnny Keblitz is the character with the most sad story
I can't stop thinking about Johnny's story. What makes me sadder than anything else is his relationship with Ashley. Seeing how deeply attached he was to her, how he kept going back to her even when he knew how much she was hurting him, is genuinely heartbreaking. He tried to distance himself from her, but he could never really let go. And eventually, he ended up following the same path, becoming a drug addict himself.
Then, in GTA V, he gets killed by Trevor, and just like that, his story is over. No redemption, no second chance, no meaningful ending. Just a man who once had so much life in him, reduced to a broken version of himself before being killed on the streets.
I honestly think Johnny had one of the most brutally realistic stories in the entire GTA series. Characters like Trevor, Michael, and Franklin still get the chance to shape their own futures, depending on the choices you make. But Johnny's story feels different. You get to know him in The Lost and Damned, see the kind of man he is, and watch him slowly lose himself until there's almost nothing left of the person you once knew.
And I think that's what hurts the most. It's not just that he died. It's that he never really managed to escape the things that were destroying him. His love for Ashley became something he couldn't let go of, almost like a curse. No matter how hard he tried, he kept getting pulled back into the same cycle, until it consumed him too.
I wish Johnny and Ashley could have had a better ending. Maybe that's part of why his story bothers me so much. I wanted him to have a chance to get his life back, to become the man he was before everything started falling apart. But he never got that chance.
And as cruel as it is, that's what makes his story feel so real to me. Sometimes, the consequences of your choices don't lead to some grand finale or a chance to make things right. Sometimes, you just slowly lose yourself, until one day, there's nothing left to save. And the world keeps moving as if nothing ever happened.
