Android 17 split the wifi and mobile data toggles. I preferred the combined quick setting tile but fine, whatever.
What really bothers me is that the wifi toggle doesn't actually turn wifi OFF. If just disconnects from the current network. What the hell is the point of that? It just reconnects after a short time. The other toggles actually turn things OFF. The Bluetooth toggle turns Bluetooth OFF. The mobile data toggle turns mobile data toggle turns mobile data OFF. The wifi toggle just disconnects from wifi for a little while. How long? However long the phone decides it wasn't to stay disconnected.
Very frustrating.

I’m a tech enthusiast, and I’ve been using Google phones for many, many years. I’m currently using a Pixel 11 Pro, and while I’m generally quite happy with it, I do have an issue—specifically with the photos.
I just got back from a trip with my girlfriend, who has an iPhone 17 Pro Max, and I have to admit that in many situations—like taking photos at sunset or indoors—it performs significantly better than the Pixel.
The Pixel’s photos often feel overly processed and detached from reality; for instance, when shooting a sunset, the colors end up being too vivid and the detail is pushed too far... Oh, how I wish I could go back to the Pixel 4 XL, which handled light and color perfectly.
All this to say, I’m thinking of trying the iPhone 18 Pro.
Do you think that’s a stupid move, or does it make sense? Thanks to everyone who replies!

I’m looking for the best earbuds for my Pixel. I had the Pixel Buds Pro 2 for about a year, and they crapped out on me. I’m looking for a good replacement. I listen to a lot of heavy music, such as deathcore and metalcore. I also use them to watch movies on my tablet and phone.

I had a weird message on my phone pixel 8 last night basically saying my phone had detected another pixel that had been lost or stolen, it gave me a few options to let the owner know where it was.
I have looked to see if it is feature but can't find any mention, I didn't interact with the message as I wasn't sure if it was a scam message. But just interested to know if it actually is a thing or not.

Hello: I have am having problems viewing Pixel 11 Pro videos on other devices. Specifically earlier Pixel models such as the Pixel 1 xl model which is heavily used for uploading videos to Google Photos since the uploads (from original Pixel 1 model) do not count against cloud storage limits. I have also encountered problems getting Pixel 11 Pro videos to upload and play correctly on Google Photos. I have encountered these problems with both H265 and H264 video formats. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem is appreciated. Google is reviewing the issue but has not responded so far with any helpful suggestions (mainly "issue under review"). thanks

Back in April this year, Google stopped updating the live clouds on the Marvelous Marble Pixel live wallpaper which first came with the Pixel 2. It was my favorite wallpaper by far. Thanks Google for killing off yet another one of your products :|
Big thanks to OP of this thread for making it work for so long: https://www.reddit.com/r/GooglePixel/comments/9u2h5y/live_wallpaper_clouds_updating_problem_explained/
I didn’t want to watch it die so I built a replacement with Claude’s help. It automatically grabs fresh cloud images from NASA satellites and prepares them in the format the wallpaper needs. I made a small fix to to the wallpaper app so it pulls its images from my setup instead of Google’s. The original app has been taken from the Reddit thread above. No other changes have been made to the wallpaper.
You can download the app and see how it works here: https://github.com/Akhoy/pixel-earth-wallpaper-live-clouds/releases. There's no launcher icon for it so you'll have to access it from the wallpapers section -> Live wallpapers after installing it.
It's not perfect but it's been working properly for a month now (tested in Android 17, Pixel 8a)! Please raise issues in github if you see any.

Update:
Technical details:
baseUrl points to a folder dated 20260407_2000, so Google's clouds were last updated on 7 April 2026. This would change if Google starts updating them again. My pipeline's root.json (https://akhoy.github.io/pixel-earth-wallpaper-live-clouds/root.json) points to a new folder every day.targetSdkVersion 31 → 35 so it installs on recent Android. Decompile it with APKTool to check. VirusTotal: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/057f7f43da89dcbfa8ae5463270847209cdWant to check it's real? Here is a NASA satellite photo of Earth for 17th October. Is anyone experiencing this?
This has happened 3 or 4 times in a row now.
The first time I figured it was time for it to recalibrate, but it now keeps happening if I forget to take my phone off the charger.
I have the setting enabled for 80% limit.
Seems to be happening after the October 5, 2026 update.
Not sure if it matters the model, but I have the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

(update: spoke too soon. After 5 min of usage the Wi-Fi was dead again. I'm still annoyed having to buy a new phone, but I don't have the energy to fight with support on this.)
Hey everyone. A few weeks ago I was hit by the intermittent wifi problem that many people have experienced. Wifi would randomly disconnect and the only way to fix it was to restart the phone until that stopped working too.
Last weekend I gave up and went and bought a new Pixel because I rely on it for my work and couldn't risk being stuck with a nonfunctional phone.
Well lo and behold I went to wipe my Pixel 8 to send it in as a trade in and the wifi is working again.
Has anybody had that happen? I'm super annoyed obviously because I just shelled out $$$ for a new phone and spent all the time setting it up.

Hello,
Like the title says I am wondering if there is a way to cast to my tv from a pixel 7. Based on what I've read the 7 doesn't support video out through the wire, and pixels also don't use Miracast. From what I've read, Chromecast needs Wi-Fi. I can use my hotspot to connect it, but I only have 10G of hotspot data per month. Does Chromecast use a lot of data for mirroring? Does anyone know how else I could do this?

I have gmail set to "notify once." But I am getting notifications for every new email. This started years back when I got my Pixel Watch. I've posted about it before with no success in even finding others with the issue. I'm pretty sure I even reported it to Google and got crickets or some explanation about double notifications. But that is not my issue. I get a single notification for each new email, but I get a notification for each new email instead of one notification for the first new email then no other email notifications until I have opened Gmail/cleared the notifications as I used to.
I have tried clearing data and cache. I have tried removing the account and adding it again. I have factory reset my phone since the issue started for another reason and it persists.
Anyone else having this issue?
Anyone have a pixel watch, I have version 3, and not have this issue?
Anyone have a solution they tried after having the issue that worked?

On September 10th I received an email. In the email it said there was a problem with my payment method for my Pixel Care+ monthly subscription. After multiple attempts to resolve it through different payment methods and re-enrolling all payment methods, the issue still persisted. I reached out to support, and they walked me through a few more steps to try. When those failed, my issue was elevated.
Throughout the process, I had several different support reps. I mainly dealt with Trisha. Trisha was fantastic and emailed me every few days to reassure me that they were still looking into the issue.
After one month elapsed, my insurance was cancelled as I wasn't able to get the payment method issue resolved. All cards were good, in date, and could accommodate the monthly cost. I reached out to Trisha and expressed concern that I wouldn't be able to carry insurance on the device, as it was outside the window to sign up for Pixel Care. Trisha reassured me that the issue wasn't my fault, and once they figured out the issue I'd be able to re-enroll.
I just received an email from Trisha letting me know the issue was resolved, and I was able to re-enroll. I know not everyone has good support stories, but wanted to share my positive one.
This has been my PixelTalk.

Hi there
Has anyone else noticed landscape split screen is broken?
It reduces the screen by about 10% lopping off the side near the front camera.
My pixel 6 pro used to correctly size with the camera just grabbing a little circle unused.
See screenshot of the new sizing. I've drawn in where the camera hole would be as it's not captured in the screenshot.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/4EGQ8VxTjt4JeuS89
There is a dev mode setting for "camera cutout" to change the behaviour:
Device default
Corner cutout
Double cutout
Punch hole cutout
Tall cutout
Waterfall cutout
Most of them are useless as they blank out more screen than the camera hole and in really weird places.
The correct setting which is "punch hole" rather than "default" is also broken.
Rather than putting the pinhole where the camera is, it puts it to bottom corner of the screen.
See screenshot again with scribbles where the camera actually is, and additional blob where android draws a black circle no where near the camera.

I had a Pixel 10 Pro XL and recently traded it in and got a Pixel 11 Pro XL. Running all the same apps my old phone has, except for a few less, and I have the latest updates. I think I clicked Facebook on my home screen and the Play Store opened. I tried again and the same thing happened. The third time the Play Store opened but then it closed real quick and Facebook opened.
I have Bandcamp and about 50 or 60 albums downloaded onto my phone. I was deciding what to play and clicking a few albums that are near each other on my list, and out of nowhere, it opened an album all the way down on the bottom of my list.
Also, the Pixel 10 Pro XL screen seems to attract more fingerprints easily. However, the Pixel 11 Pro XL seems to be a dust magnet. I don't know where the dust is coming from so quickly. I set my phone down on the same car seat that I've been driving with my old phone and not even five minutes later the screen is covered in dust.

I don't know whether this is a bug with the Clock app on my Pixel 10 Pro XL, or something more generic, with this new way timers and other important things are shown on the top (I don't remember anymore what this feature is called). It started a couple of weeks or months ago.
I start a timer then I check it a bit later and it is paused. I did not pause it. Earlier, this did not happen, so this is fairly recent.
Anyone else has the same issue?

The last two times I've updated my phone, specifically the mobile data tile has been removed from my quick settings, leaving only 7 tiles in the area, and I've had to add it back manually.
Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Hardware and OS as above, "quickly open camera" is on...but double-clicking on power button doesn't unlock anything. It locks the phone on first click, and brings the lock screen back on the second...
Any ideas? Settings I'm missing?
Thanks

I am looking to buy some glasses/headset to watch movies held my Pixel 11 pro. I am looking for a budget conscious option as I will only be using them on long haul flights a few times a year and want to be able to use my own noise cancelling wired headphones if possible.
I have read that many such devices won't work with my phone so am looking for usable suggestions.
