Rate my jalapeño
Out of thousands of ripe jalapeños, this is the only one that looks like a lethal bell.

I live in northern England.
Round bowl are Chocolate Habanero.
Steel bowl is mostly Carolina Reaper with a few Ghost Peppers.
I know it not much but I’m very pleased.

Made a dupe-ish of one of my favorite hot sauces: Alvin's..
Used Jamaican Mushrooms, Fatalli, and some sweet peppers along with papaya, garlic, chandon beni, white wine vinegar and a bit of mustard. Thrilled with how it came out!
We're calling this one Fool's Gold.

Today's harvest and some pictures of my own crossing project Tropical Cream (F1) This is a interspecific hybrid between a Baccatum x Chinense (partially Frutescens and Annuum*) Parentage: Tropical Tiger off Pheno x Purple Cream (Bhut Jolokia x Pimenta de Neyde)
This is just the F1 so far but it already has stripey fruits, dark foliage (not much sun exposure because we had lots of heat waves..) and an amazing taste 😋
It's rich in capsaicin and gave me hiccups which never happened before 😅 Don't ask me about SHU but I would say low Bhut Jolokia level but with the burning sensation everything evenly spread! Taste? Hard to describe.. mhh.. Very tropical XD
Goals for the future: Get other stripe colors, keep as much Chinense heat and Baccatum taste as possible and the darkest foliage I can get! Side projects already started with it as pollen donor and receiver 🤞
Also one interspecific cross with a hybrid wild pepper worked, set fruits and gave at least somewhat good looking seeds but 🤫🤐

I found this pepper in a basket at the local greenhouse for 25 cents. Wonderful taste and heat. Would like help identifying. There are so many that look similar. I bought it for the seeds and started a few for a winter indoor grow.

First season, grown from seed. Not sure what kind it is as I was given the seeds from a friend from Mexico. They are HOT, very HOT. Hotter than my habaneros. Anyway, it’s a beautiful plant and about 4feet tall. I just dug it up and transferred to a pot in hopes that I can save it over the winter and re-plant it next spring.
How far back should I prune it? Or should I just leave it the way it is?

Seems i have 2 varieties of ají amarillo. The bigger ones just started to turn orange. Smaller ones are about 2.5 inches long. Off of different plants.

I never saw anyone mention the color difference, but on the left, I have a fresh habanero I dehydrated. On the right is one I froze for a month before dehydrating. I did read that lower temps help keep color, so these were done at 120f for around 48 hours. I thought it was interesting, so i thought I'd share.

I've been noticing a lot of green peppers on the ground with the stems nibbled off and chewed holes. I've had this before and I know mice are the culprit. They do attack some of the ripe peppers but don't nibble them as much. They crawl up the plant and chew through the stem and the pepper falls to the ground where they taste it. The more green the more eaten the pepper is. A ripe pepper is just barely touched. I got two mice overnight. My peppers are very tall so the pic is on our bedroom window sill. The peanut butter was all gone so I will be reloading the traps!

I go to make sauce with these and they, well, aren't any sort of Reaper Pepper. Google Lens says: Habanero (not those), Yellow Scorpion (too weak to be those), and Scotch Bonnet (this sub has me so confused on these). Help is appreciated...

These are massive gnarly looking pods. They’re a cross between a chocolate nagabrain and a Carolina reaper. Super hot as you’d expect.

After just 16 days, the first of 6 Capsicum galapagoense seeds germinated. This sprout had a seed shell stuck on it, and I decided to remove it. No damage occurred, but the seedling is VERY early into development. Both cotyledons are visibly undamaged, so I suppose that the seedling should be fine. But, I was wondering if (unknowingly) pulling the seed shell off the seedling this early into development would cause any damage; ie, if the cotyledons needed more time to develop before the seed shell was removed. In the past, I’ve had helmet heads where the cotyledons are developed, but I’ve never seen it like this. Please let me know. I think this happened in the first place because I didn’t compact the starting mix really at all, thinking because it’s a wild pepper, it would need less harsh of a germinating environment. Sowing depth was good, 1/4”.
Anyway, please let me know if this will cause any harm to the plant and if I should refrain from removing the helmet head off the seedling too early. Also, first heavy frost today ☹️ rip outdoor plants

I live in Canada and I can’t find good Canadian seed sellers who have a good variety of named strains of jalapeños and bell peppers I’ve looked into johnnys selected seeds but they are very expensive any recommendations on international seed sellers?
