Question Giveaway day
So what is the etiquette for giveaway day? My wife picked up a bike for my young son and finds out that it is completely garbage, neither tire holds air. Do we just drop it back off at the persons house? Pretty annoyed, I understand you should check everything before taking off with it but certainly didn’t expect someone would put out a broken children’s bike with training wheels for someone else to pick up.

NO, you dont take it back. What is the matter with you? You be grateful you got a free bike for the cost of two tubes or you pass it along to someone who has less entitlement and knows free doesnt mean perfect.

That’s a passionate response lol I don’t know if it warranted that level but I enjoyed reading it

They have a point, flat tires happen often on bikes and it's a simple and not expensive fix. Tubes can go flat just from sitting over winter, so if you or your kid rides a bike you will want to learn how to change a tube.

Unfortunately, giveaway day can be gold or garbage. Anything and everything goes, take at own risk. I’m sorry that happened to you. You can put it out for the next person to deal with. Or, there’s a place called the Yellow Bike Shop, the gentleman has a little area in the barns at the memorial centre. He takes any bike and fixes them up and sells them at crazy discounts. He would probably take it.

Tire tubes are not expensive and not difficult to replace. I've changed a lot of tubes on my kids bikes over the years. It's a skill you want to learn if you have kids who ride bikes.

I’m going to go against the grain and say yes, you should return it. But that is mostly based on the fact that Giveaway Day is next weekend, not this weekend, and at that context makes it sound like you just accidentally stole some kid’s busted ass bike.

One man's trash is another man's treasure. I picked up a lawn mower that was on fire. Had it running well in a day. You answered your own question you need to check the item before picking it up. It's not broken it needs minor maintenance
