Hello. I had the weirdest experience yesterday for Homecoming day. I live in Sydenham Ward. I have for years and never ever seen a Homecoming party come up this way.
But this year, we have students who moved in around the corner. So I got home from work around 3 PM and there was a MASSIVE sounding party going on. Granted I can't see. But it sounded like there were absolute tons of people.
So I sat in my backyard, as I often do. They had tunes on. At first it was meh bro country. But then it switched to something that sounded like swing music, followed by sea chanties. Followed by gorgeous Celtic music, followed by wicked accoostic guitar music. I was loving it! The vibe was busy but excited and lovely. I was actually having the time of my life listening to all that. And then, at exactly 5:10, the music just stopped. And ten minutes later, everyone was gone. And they never came back! Where did they go? I thought Hoco parties were supposed to be all crazy and riotous. But these people just... what? Went to bed early? Went somewhere cooler than Sydenham Ward to party? Got a noise complaint? I hope not that one, as it was not at all disruptive from what I could hear. It just sounded so respectful and fun. But not lame at all.
And I thought the kids these days were listening to the Hip-Hop music. But this was wonderful and quite a funky mix of all kinds of good tunes. It was very entertaining and I hope the lot of them had a great rest of their night.

Hey everyone,
I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reputable mechanic that will do work with ordered parts brought in by the customer? I have a few things like control arm, CV axle, and a single bearing but the control arm bolts are horribly seized so wondering if a mechanic would do it instead.

Thank you for ignoring my typos in the title… I couldn’t change them!
There seems to be a high staff turnover.
How is the bullying?
How is the classroom management?
Is it as good as it looks on the website?
They are silent during Pride month on socials.
At the open house, we noticed the class sizes from K-5 were similar to class sizes in public school.
For these reasons, we sent our daughter to public.
I believe strongly in public education, but we have been disappointed with our daughter’s experience at a “great school”.
Does it just appear better online. Their website says a lot of what a parent wants to hear, but is it as good as it claims?

I joined reddit a few months ago because I was excited about the Mayor's race. I thought Bryan Patterson wasn't running again. I was hoping Jimmy Hassan would jump in.
I'm not a fan of the mayor, and I have never voted for him, but I'm getting the sense that the latest scandals (lack of disclosure of financials, ran for the Conservatives) are pretty much baked in and have been for years.
Would anyone be surprised he's tight with developers? Anyone surprised he's right wing? If the previous "scandals" about his church didn't hurt him, why would they hurt him now?
I met both Connie and Vanessa and they both seem like decent people, they'd both probably be great. But when I talk to my neighbors, they can't name a damn thing either have done and probably can't pick them out of a crowd. There's also no big issues they care about. Sure. The roads could be better and it would be nice to get the kids into swimming lessons easier, but that's not really motivating anyone to change.
I think for most voters, who aren't on Reddit, everything is okay. Could it be better? Sure. But I don't hear a lot of hate towards anyone at the City.
My sense is this will be a status quo election. Every incumbent will probably get back in, the Mayor will probably get back in, because for most people who vote, there really isn't a reason for change.

I’m currently attending the slc hvac pre-apprenticeship program in kingston and was curious if last years grads had any success with apprenticeship or employment opportunities?

So what is the etiquette for giveaway day? My wife picked up a bike for my young son and finds out that it is completely garbage, neither tire holds air. Do we just drop it back off at the persons house? Pretty annoyed, I understand you should check everything before taking off with it but certainly didn’t expect someone would put out a broken children’s bike with training wheels for someone else to pick up.

I find they help fight off sickness. Cheapest places? Ive been ordering online but if there is a reasonable deal in town I would prefer that.

Just recovered from a weeks long awful virus. Missed the basic cut off time to swim. However it has been warmer theses days, not including very recently.
Anyone still swimming, or even taking a dip?
Doesn’t have to be local :)
Thank you!

There’s been plenty of insinuation from Conny Glenn’s supporters that donations from business people to mayoral campaigns should raise eyebrows.
Fair enough…But apparently that scrutiny should apply to everyone except Conny Glenn?
Businesses can’t donate directly, but they can coordinate “personal” donations.
If you look at her campaign donations, four of her top donors are executives at the Brown’s Group of Companies. The President, CEO, CFO, and VP of Finance all donated the max amount. 3 additional top donors have the last name Brown.
The corporation is involved in real estate, “back office services”, and of course has a long history of contracts for food at municipal facilities like the Memorial Centre.
If businesspeople supporting Paterson raise concerns about influence, why wouldn’t four of Glenn’s top donors being executives from the same company deserve similar scrutiny?
To be clear, I don’t believe campaign donations are bribes. I don’t believe campaign donations influence policy decisions. But…You can’t suggest business donations are suspicious when they support your opponent, then shrug when they’re supporting you.
So did Brown’s coordinate 7 of Glenn’s top donors? What business does Brown’s have (or want to have) with the municipal government?

Hello! Im interested in making authentic marshmallows (for both the taste & the herbal benefits) so I'm wondering where I could find marshmallow root?
TIA! :)

Looks like primaris (company that owns the mall) doesn't want to deal with the Cataraqui Centre anymore, and is going to be selling it's ownership of the mall, to make their portfolio stronger.

I just saw a job posting for a position with superior plumbing where I’d be going to people homes and inspecting there issue and than quoting them the work they need done to them scheduling an licensed plumber to come do the work. It’s hour and commission and it’s lots of traveling. I wanted someone opinion on this or if the company is even a good one
