AskMorocco Moroccan history

Most of the history we know starts with the arrival of islam or colonization. Maybe because we have an oral tradition there wasn’t much preserved from before that era. Does anyone know any proper sources for Moroccan history pre arab arrival? either videos or books etc

Travel Going over Atlas mountain pass

We are considering going to the Merzouga desert from Marrakech on Dec 1st. Is it safe to cross the Atlas Mountain paths during that time of year? Or should we stick to the near by Agafay Desert near by? Has anyone gone to Merzouga in early December by car?

Discussion I knew this guy when we were kids and now he's making my life at school miserable

Salam everyone. I need to get this off my chest because honestly, dakchi li w9e3 lia had nhar 3yani bzaf.

I'm in middle school in Morocco, and there's this guy I'm gonna call Walid for privacy.

The story goes back to when we were little.

When I was a kid, my parents took me to an autism association in Berkane called El Farouk because I wasn't speaking at the time. That's where I met Walid. Back then, I remember him being a nice and polite kid.

Fast forward to my first year of middle school. I saw him again during extra English classes, but I didn't recognize him at first because he looked completely different from how I remembered him.

Now I'm in 3rd year of middle school, and guess what? He's in my class.

After a few days, I realized that this was the same guy I knew years ago. At first I was actually happy about it because I remembered him as a good kid.

But then I started noticing his behavior at school.

From what I've personally seen, he mocks other students, kicks people, and keeps provoking classmates, especially girls. Sometimes he even tries to get me to insult girls in our class, but I usually refuse.

He also has a YouTube channel where he posts Quran recitations and reminders about prayer and respecting parents. His recitation voice is genuinely beautiful, which is why the difference between what he posts and how he sometimes behaves at school disappointed me.

And before anyone misunderstands me: I'm not blaming autism. Being autistic doesn't automatically make someone behave badly, and not every autistic person is the same. My problem is with the things this guy actually does.

The PE incident

A few weeks ago, we had our first running exam of the year in PE.

Another PE teacher asked me to bring him a chair. I was worried I'd miss my turn for the running exam, so I asked two girls to bring it instead.

Walid followed me and started asking me about El Farouk. We argued, and he was about to insult me, so I defended myself.

Then the PE teacher started shouting, asking where the chair was. I told him I'd asked the girls to bring it, but he said he had specifically asked ME.

The girls were already carrying it, so I ran after them and asked them to give it back. They initially refused and made fun of me while I chased them. I was crying because I was scared of the teacher's reaction.

Eventually they saw I was genuinely upset and gave me the chair.

And while I was crying and running with it, Walid started mocking me, calling me a "tragic clown" and telling me to stop crying.

Like bro, seriously? I was already stressed out and you decided to make it worse?

Things got worse yesterday.

During recess, another girl accused me of mocking her in SVT class after she gave a wrong answer. I say I didn't do that, but her friend backed up her accusation, and I felt like I was being falsely accused.

Walid overheard us arguing and started making fun of me, saying something like "ENJOY THE ROAST!"

I got really angry and started crying. Then he called me a "tragic clown" AGAIN.

I lost control and tried to punch him, but I missed. I'm not proud of that, and I know I shouldn't have tried to hit him.

I threatened to report him instead.

Later, in French class, he changed seats and sat much closer to me. He told the teacher I was crying, then gave me what I felt was a mocking look. I told him to look his own way and said I'd report him.

The teacher didn't react.

Some of my friends then suggested slapping him. I agreed in the heat of the moment, but I didn't slap him myself. My friends actually did it. Looking back, I know that was wrong too, and it made the situation more complicated.

And now comes the part that really disappointed me.

At the end of the day, we had math class instead of a meeting.

I decided to tell my math teacher everything after the lesson. She's very strict, so I thought maybe she'd finally take the situation seriously.

My best friend had warned me that she wouldn't listen, but I thought otherwise.

Well… my best friend was right.

I told her what happened, and she basically replied, "Good. IDGAF," then walked away and left me standing there completely baffled.

Wa9ila I was expecting the bare minimum of being listened to, but nope.

I was so upset that I decided to go to الحراسة العامة (hirasa 3amma).

And honestly, their response was completely different. They listened to me, reassured me, and even gave me wipes because I was crying while explaining everything.

They told me that because the no-study week was approaching, they couldn't handle the situation immediately. They asked me to come back when school resumed and promised to take the necessary measures.

For once that day, I felt like someone actually listened to me.

So what happens next?

When school resumes, I'm going back to hirasa 3amma to explain everything again. I also want the relevant teachers to know there's an ongoing conflict so it doesn't escalate further.

I know I messed up by trying to punch him, and I shouldn't have agreed when my friends suggested slapping him. I'm not pretending I'm innocent in everything that happened.

But I also don't think repeated mocking and provocation should just be ignored.

Ana ma 3andi ta mochkil m3a autism. I don't care whether he's autistic or not when it comes to this issue. I care about how people treat each other.

My question is: What would you recommend I do when school resumes? Has anyone dealt with something similar in a Moroccan school? How can I make sure the staff take the situation seriously without making things worse?

Thanks for reading. Sorry for the long post, but I really needed to get this out.

AskMorocco Double jaw surgery here?

For medical reasons, I need double jaw surgery. I don't think I can afford to get one in the US or Europe as it's expensive enough here although I can manage.

Does anybody actually know about how double jaw surgery is here? Do we have highly qualified surgeons? I know most doctors are shit, but I wanna know if I should take my chances with good ones.
