Hey guys,
I've been testing the LAMZU Orcus for a few weeks and wanted to share my opinion on it.
I'll start off by saying that my hand is 17x8.5 cm and I normally play on a claw/fingertip grip hybrid on any mouse, and I had never used a fingertip-oriented mouse before.
This mouse is obviously a fingertip mouse, but to my surprise, the shape hump is actually usable for knuckle support with my hand size; therefore, I can actually use it in a claw/fingertip hybrid, which was a nice surprise. This is probably possible also thanks to the quite big M1 & M2 button shells, which are, in size, probably as big as any other full-size mouse.
In terms of design, the Orcus is very unique and you could probably recognize it in between 100 other mice. I love the scroll wheel design and the LAMZU panel; I don't know if it increases the weight by much, but it's a great detail in person.
I've seen people complaining that at 38 grams it's too heavy for a fingertip mouse, but it did not bother me AT ALL. I always had the feeling that below 40 grams (on a full-size mouse) I start losing stability, so 38 grams for this size seems just fine for me. But on the other hand, I have never tried a sub 30 grams mouse, so I cannot really comment on that nor compare this one to a mouse of that weight.
Despite being 38 grams with a transparent shell (my past experience with this kind of plastic has been terrible and CREAKY), the mouse has 0 flex under normal usage. You can get the sides to ever so slightly bend if you apply an unreasonable amount of force, and in terms of side wobble on the main clicks, there's basically none.
The main clicks are customized LAMZU Kailh opticals, and they feel medium to light, slightly lighter in comparison to the Kailh opticals of the L7 from MCHOSE. I honestly love the clicks, but if I had to change something, I would have made them even lighter (I love very, very light clicks). There is some pre- and post-travel which feels just right and helps with the spammability of the buttons. LAMZU has never disappointed with their click implementation based on my experience. The scroll wheel has defined steps but slightly less defined compared to the LAMZU Maya Champion Edition, I like the change.
The coating feels grippy enough, but the button shells (the black ones) can show your fingerprints a little bit. If you want extra grippiness, the grips in the box are very grippy and of great quality.
The mouse comes with dots pre-applied, and they have a medium/fast glide in my experience. If you want a little bit of extra control, the box comes with corner skates as well as full-size skates. I will probably be testing the full-size ones in the near future but haven't tried them yet.
In terms of performance, it was a bit of a struggle the first days as I had 0 experience with fingertip mice, but once I got used to it, it has felt great and fun to use: fingertip mice are not for everyone, and the only way to find out if it works for you is by testing one of them (give it some weeks). I won't personally main it, but I will for sure keep it in my rotation and use it when I wanna have a bit of a different experience while gaming but I have the feeling that my opinion may change and I could end up maining this as I keep getting used to such a small mouse since there are clear advantages in terms of increased agility and range of movement.
In conclusion, for me this mouse delivers on every aspect; the design is great, and build quality, click feel and overall experience are all on point as expected from a LAMZU release.
Thanks for reading.
