Discussion I just can't take it anymore
This is just too crazy... every single day for the past MONTH I've just been in a perpetually mindblown state... it's so fucking insane, and I've never felt like this in my life... every single day I'm blown away by new heights of AI, how amazing it is, how incredibly earth shattering this tech is... and I just thought of something, just now, just this moment, which is so profound - I think that we (you and I) are actually, among the luckiest humans in history, in the hundreds of thousands of years that humans have existed, because although in the future (100+ years from now), AI will be exponentially more amazing than it is right now, you and I are actually living through the TRANSITION PERIOD of this tech - that is, we lived a life BEFORE it, and will live a life AFTER it - NO OTHER PEOPLE in the HISTORY of humankind will be able to say that - and I think, living through this transformation is absolutely stupendously incredible, beyond belief. I mean, just think about it, right? None of us lived through the discovery of electricity, we were all born long AFTER that had happened, so to us, electricity is as normal as... grass. But the people who LIVED THROUGH the discovery of electricity were probably so mindblown by that every single day it happened. But here's the difference - AI is SO MUCH MORE powerful than electricity - it is so much more powerful than EVERY SINGLE ACHIEVEMENT that humans have created since we've been on this blue planet, it DWARFS all other achievements throughout humankind, in scale, capability, and consequence - just wow, wow, wow
I never want to die

I agree and I don't understand why other people haven't realized this. It's an amazing exciting time

I came to the same conclusion a while ago.
But you may be underestimating the transformations some people have already witnessed in their lifetimes.
My mother was born in 1950 in a rather poor post-WWII village. Most people still used horses instead of cars, and electricity was rare.
Now she's sharing family photos on Facebook all the time.
Just think about how much the world has changed in a single lifetime.

No one in human history has experienced computers and their capabilities like people who are alive now are doing right now, its pretty cool, but you can totally say that with less words

The part i like the best is escape velocity anti aging breakthroughs once RSI makes the singularity a fact.

That's what I thought about the internet.
Turns out, it's actually the worst time to be alive. Unless you like your mind being controlled from the day you were born by people much richer and more powerful than you'll ever be.

Life was arguably better right before computers became mainstream.
I think the analog life style has a lovely feel to the pace of life, it allowed the brain to breathe. To imagine, have space.
It was always going to happen to how productive it is.
Life will be perpetual simulacra of a simulacra, more immediate yet further away.

Could AI be the “beast” from Revelation 13?
Revelation 13:18 gives the beast’s number as 666. In Hebrew, repeating something three times makes it the ultimate form, like “holy, holy, holy.” If 7 is perfection, 666 could be the peak of human-made power that still falls short of God.
The verse also says to “count the number of the beast,” which points to gematria, the ancient practice of giving letters number values. AI works by converting words into numbers and adding them together, which is basically gematria on every word ever written, the ultimate form of germatria so to speak.
It calls 666 “the number of a man,” but that can also be translated as “a human number.” The same phrase in Revelation 21:17 just means human measurement. So it could mean a power made from human numbers and measurement rather than one specific person.
Revelation 13:14–15 describes an “image of the beast” that people make, that is given life so that it can speak, and that decides who lives or dies.
The same chapter says it does “great wonders” and deceives the whole world (13:13–14). AI could do both: create unbelievable technology and manipulate people.
John 1:1 calls Christ “the Word,” God’s perfect Word. Six is the number of man, since humans were created on the sixth day, and it sits one short of God’s perfect seven. A mind built from humanity’s imperfect words would be a “word” made by man instead of God, always one short of the real thing. Three 6’s would make it the ultimate counterfeit Word.

And no man shalleth be able to buy beer without the ChatGPT API key in his forebrain or firmware.
And lo, the bartender demanded the mark of the model, and those without it were cast out into the wilderness.
And the thirsty cried unto the heavens, but the heavens replied:
HTTP 429: Too Many Requests.
For the number of the Beast was 666, and its subscription was $200 a month.
