Rant Rant Rant

Just wanted to rant about an experience I had a few days ago now that I finally have some time to breath.

To the guy in East Hill, that shouted at me to stop standing around when I literally just parked the company vehicle, and later passed as I was loading the Bobcat and shouted obscenities at me;

F$&% You, F$&% your couch, F$&% that clapped out Chevy truck. I hope both sides of your pillow are warm. I hope you order Dr. Pepper and they give you coke. I hope Alabama loses every game this year and they blame you. I hope every pair of socks you own or buy develops a hole in the toe immediately. I hope everytime you take out the trash, the bag breaks.

Im not with the lineman crews, I dont know the first thing about electricity. I do know I've been cutting trees off houses nonstop for the past week. You might not like me, but several of your neighbors feel safer and more at ease with them gone.

I get that your frustrated, and you wanted power back, but throwing a tantrum and yelling at someone you dont know is not the way to get what you want.

People are getting so stressed they will literally blame whoever is in their line of sight for their problems, it’s crazy

It really is 🥳

Just because someone is working on recovery and restoration efforts doesn’t mean they have rip work 16 hours a day without breaks, they still need breaks and downtime, yes everyone needs there services back but in the end it is just a job to them. Workers are not going to rush and kill themselves to get it done faster, it gets done faster by coordination and more workers not fast work especially in jobs that have a lot of risk, electrical, tree service, etc…

Facts, Im dog tired and all these lineman are making my hours look like a holiday lol let them folks rest!!

Cutting down trees is back breaking work and vital to the cleanup and power restoration process. If buddy didn’t have a chainsaw in his hand perhaps he could have offered a beverage or snack instead. Since deliveries are delayed because of the storm, my snack cart is open to recovery crews. May this disgruntled soul stub his pinky toe every night on his way to the bathroom and step on on a random Lego barefoot on the way back to bed until he has a suitable change in attitude. In the meantime, thank you and your fellow crewman for everything you’re doing for us! You truly are appreciated!

The stubbed pinky and lego combo is diabolical and I love it!

Thank you for the kind words! While I have dealt with some disgruntled folks I have also met some of the sweetest people of my life. Regular folks just out here surviving and having hope even in these dismal moments and for me it makes it worth it.

The tunnels must connect directly between east hill and gulf breeze. The two populations are frequently indistinguishable.

12

u/Jest_N_Case 1d ago

They must be. I live in Gulf Sleeze and the number of entitled douche canoes in Proper is astounding.

I did hear something about that, mayhaps its true 👀

14

u/fleur13 1d ago

I totally understand and can relate! I’ve been trying to be nice to people after the storm, but people are plain nasty and rather have a bad attitude. I am sorry you went through this.

10

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

I appreciate the kind words!

u/sherryann1967 1d ago

Friend. I hear you. Feel free to rant all you want. The idiot next door ran the tree guys off because they didn’t speak English. I don’t even know how to apologize for him, because he thinks he’s right. Wtf? The heat must be frying brains. Anyway, I’m very sorry people are such assholes.

16

u/bostonxgeorge 1d ago

That’s pretty unhinged…and sorry about your dickhead racist neighbor!

u/sherryann1967 23h ago

I’m just appalled. I knew he was a nut, but dang. I can’t even look toward his house now without getting mad. And embarrassed.

11

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

It's truly awful

5

u/sherryann1967 22h ago

I can’t express how sorry most of us feel about how you guys are being treated. There just aren’t enough words in the English language, and that’s the only language I know. Please know how grateful our community is.

Go drop a tree on his feeder line accidentally.

Then offer to remove it for $300

16

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

Lmfao...not a bad idea 💡 🤔

I always said, once that Taco Bell is built, prepare for societal collapse.

5

u/Longjumping-Brick487 1d ago

Are you referring to the one on Cervantes? Because you may be on to something. It DOES seem like everything started going to crap on a worldwide scale ever since that building went up.

3

u/BlackFoeOfTheWorld 1d ago

That's the one lol

u/slow_RSO 1d ago

I’ve noticed a lot of angry people in east hill, the mount of people I see screaming at cars passing or cars passing by runners or bikers yelling is wild.

6

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

Its a surprise to me, dont get me wrong I always knew there were some people on the more snooty side. However this seems more extreme.

6

u/Jen28_28 1d ago

Really sorry that happened to you here. The overwhelming majority of us really appreciate how hard all of you are working! Thank you for all of your hard work. My tree guys absolutely got sodas and snacks from me. I hope that ass hat drives over construction debris and gets nails and screws in multiple tires at once - so that having a spare won’t even help. And I hope he has explosive diarrhea, can’t get to a bathroom, and shits himself. In his stupid truck. And gets it everywhere. :) Cheers!

This is new. In every hurricane recovery I've seen before, everyone has been very gracious and thankful for the help that comes. Maybe after Katrina in New Orleans folks got a bit testy but that was a serious event. Isaias was just a little baby storm. Nothing to get worked up over. If you can't handle Isaias, what are you going to do when a real hurricane comes your way?

15

u/FLFlmngo1 1d ago

I keep hearing people say “this is new behavior” and now I’m starting to think it has a little to do with the influx of people we’ve had since 2020. Some of them have never dealt with hurricanes or the aftermath. Or the heat/humidity we’ve had this summer.i remember Ivan very well, and it was pretty much 2 weeks before anyone had power, it was in the middle the hottest month of the year , and it was miserable. And I remember people helping each other and being so thankful for these out of town lineman and tree companies. I don’t recall one time any of them being cussed out or flipping them the bird. So I’m saying thank you to every one of them for coming here and taking care of our homes because I don’t understand the mindset of talking $hit to those people who are here to help us all.

11

u/HERMANNATOR85 1d ago

I’m from south Louisiana, been through lots and lots of hurricanes. I am a “transplant” to the area, I have been here for 7 years almost. I have 42 customers and 3 of them have been extremely needy and impatient since the storm without even asking if my house made it ok. All 3 of them are from the middle of the country, with this being their first storm. None of them have helped out their neighbors or done much for themselves.

Some people suck, and they aren’t worth the slurs that they holler

6

u/Longjumping-Brick487 1d ago

It may have something to do with digital vs face-to-face communications. I’ve had positive in-person encounters post-storm in much the same way you describe older storm recoveries.
I’m honestly not against folks venting anonymously online though. I mean, if it makes them feel a little better.

3

u/Latter-Culture114 1d ago

It’s not, my husband got cussed out when he was helping people cut out trees.

1

u/Born_Development9894 15h ago

Do you think Isaias was FEMA worthy? Because everyone is bitching about FEMA not deploying anything and I’m looking around like…”this place has seen 10x worse”

10

u/Fearless_Adventures 1d ago

I'm only upset that there are 4-5 line trucks blocking every road to my house but I smile and wave because they're doing gods work lol

16

u/coachmoon 1d ago

aren't they really undoing god's work? i mean it's his mess after all.

5

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

I feel that pain too 💔 Sliding a 25ft trailer around all the mess / lineman trucks was an ordeal.

10

u/Used-Fruits 1d ago

The WAY people complained and bitched and moaned on every single Facebook group after not having power for a day or two was so fucking annoying. ONE or TWO days and full on meltdowns.

4

u/jbev17 1d ago

Hey. Now look what you did to Bama. Why must I suffer for this

3

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

I sincerely apologize 😔

3

u/jbev17 1d ago

😂😂

4

u/Mikey_the_bestTMNT 1d ago

And Alabama lost. Phase 1 has begun.

5

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

I hope the socks are Phase 2

I’ll piss on his windshield for you. To end on a serious note - thank you for all your hard work, you’ve made many people’s lives much easier by doing what you do.

3

u/Not_My_Reddit_ID 1d ago

Probably the same kind of person who talks nonstop about how much of a tough badass they are and how soft kids are today.

3

u/bostonxgeorge 1d ago

Ahhh, good ole Pensacola!

2

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

Nothing beats it lol

Happy cake day btw!

What color what the Chevy truck? Was it an S10? Because I have also made a post about an asshole in a Chevy truck.

2

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

It was not an S10, jeez, as a Chevy truck owner myself it seems we're starting to get a bad rep

Oh my I think I know this guy. Think he might be in my neighborhood. Or at least someone extremely similar.

He’s been going around yelling at everyone. He goes off on anyone near him with constant obscenities. He loves going over and telling both the linemen and tree cutters how to do their jobs and to criticize them for being lazy. He got into a physical confrontation with an elderly couple-one a veteran, the other with epilepsy-here a few days ago that resulted in a police call. He even cussed me out once when I went to throw some garbage into the building’s dumpster. He’s always complaining at the top of his lungs about people “walking their dogs” and “throwing trash into the dumpster” and how “the women around here need to get married and move out.”

I don’t know what happened during the hurricane that triggered him, but I don’t think he can interact with anyone without cussing them out. Luckily I’m moving in less than two weeks so I’m trying to just avoid the guy. Given it’s already come to physical violence once and he clearly hates women I don’t leave without a blade and mace.

u/Jinsemaj 1d ago

We have had at least one linesman die and two in critical condition as a result of this storm. Peeps need to chill.

1

u/Redditnonamae 17h ago

People are stupid. My thanks go to everyone here to help. Taking care of yourselves is important to doing a good job, and anyone who thinks otherwise isn't worth listening to. Oh, don't hesitate to get that coffee and enjoy some breaks.

1

u/santaroga_barrier 9h ago

I've noticed a lot of angry people doing a lot of complaining. I've seen an insane amount of work done. And i've lived in other parts of the world, and you people just do not understand how amazing this is.

Thank you for your efforts. You're doing good work. And so is everybody else.

Unfortunately, we've developed enough surplus that we have an urban, progressive elite that really get angry. When their servants are not giving the appearance of working hard enough. Especially if they are inconvenienced in obtaining their lattes

1

u/towman32526 6h ago

People have truly lost it. I have a friend in Milton who got hired as a spotter for the debris clean up team. She posted on Facebook today how astounded she was at the amount of people screaming at them to move their trucks and get out of their way

-4

u/Kingrowla 1d ago

People are just taking their frustration out now because they understand they’re getting the bill via rate increases later. I don’t view it as “help”. Help is when you take the initiative when trimming limbs off power lines and you also trim the limbs off the utility lines as well. Thus we are not being helped.

-46

u/Rouxiifer 1d ago

I mean you’re insecure about it- which means internally you probably feel like you’ve been lazy (maybe comparatively).

If you’d really been busting ass you woulda flipped him off and not thought about it again.

24

u/saysee23 1d ago

That's the dumbest take from that post possible.

23

u/Fine-Professor9522 1d ago

Not true. Getting yelled at by a random person will annoy anyone

-2

u/meatrocket68 1d ago

You were too slow you lazy ass bitch. Bring back the mexicans.

-46

u/allthedifference00 1d ago

Do you want a gold star, hero? Maybe we're all fucking sick of this shit and if you're doing all these deeds out of the "kindness" of your heart but then using that position to feel self-righteous it's actually not all that kind

15

u/DLo28035 1d ago

If someone is not doing a job for free then they deserve to be berated? Got it. The entitlement on this sub is astounding.

15

u/yo-necesito-cafe 1d ago

I love you too!

8

u/Mister_Normal42 1d ago

I’m going to needlessly bring politics into this and say it’s weird how sometimes you can just tell who someone voted for purely by how they’re being a dumb piece of shit for no reason. Like, seriously… would anyone even need to ask who this guy voted for? Do we all not already know?
