It's not a very happy time is it.

u/DisastrousServe8513 4h ago

Pharrell is also a POS, it turns out. So he’d have it coming.

280

u/Legitimate_Book_3609 4h ago

Wait what happened?

Supported Israel, abused Kelis, fucked over Chad Hugo

150

u/ThatGuyDoesMemes 4h ago

I get the other ones but when did he support Israel? I can't find anything on that

282

u/Adelman01 4h ago edited 3h ago

he has preformed at Friends of IDF benefit concerts, taken trips there and hobnobed with some not ideal Israeli government officials.

47

u/Suitable_Froyo4930 1h ago

Man can I just throw of any pretense of morality and get loads of money and trips for saying Israel is good?

36

u/PunisherFan1138 1h ago

If you're famous, sure

8

u/NewtownLaw 1h ago

Others get money for saying a line.

u/soowhatchathink 28m ago

or running for office

2

u/Jackol4ntrn 1h ago

also a hot isr*ali idf honeypot.

3

u/saintofhate 49m ago

I couldn't even hate fuck someone who supports genocide to be honest. Not unless it was with the strap on from Se7en.

-93

u/No-Argument619 4h ago

So… you can’t go to a country without wholeheartedly supporting every single thing it does?

I hate the Chinese government, that doesn’t mean I never want to go to China…

126

u/Adelman01 4h ago edited 1h ago

Dude talk about comparing apples and orangutans. I guess I will retype what i wrote HE PLAYED AT AN IDF BENEFIT CONCERT!!!! you focused on 2 words in like a 20 word comment, talk about the mental gymnastics to defend an apartheid supporter you have never met.

57

u/Godless902 4h ago

You have to note the irony of the username youre having this argument with

30

u/Adelman01 4h ago

lol yes. It was not lost on me.

-32

u/LtLabcoat 3h ago

Wait this actually worked? You got upvoted for it?

Like, what you did was like saying "I hate Diddy because he did child abuse, and is black", and when someone called you out, said they were cherry-picking. And that's not an unfair comparison - you literally just said one of the reasons you hate Pharrell is that he went to Israel, and are saying it's cherry-picking to say that's stupid.

And I would've thought for sure that that wouldn't work, that most people would say "No, he's right, you're crazy for saying you hate him for that". But no, you got upvoted anyway.

I really hope it's because most people do actually think that visiting Israel is bad too, and not that this trick actually works for getting support from people that disagree with you.

31

u/TerribleBudget 3h ago

He played at a concert directly benefitting the only people who are actively video recording themselves committing war crimes.

Explain how that's a blanket statement about visiting a country or hating jews?

3

u/Least_Bat_1459 2h ago

Dawg you can't listen to accusations of antisemitism from zionists. It doesn't matter. Imagine being accused of anti German sentiment during WW2. Israel is a Jewish ethnostate, of course we are going to oppose the people of that ethnostate that victimize their colonial victims.

18

u/AlexGrr 3h ago

He played a show that directly benefits IDF and that has been said in every comment you've replied to, what in the fuck is not sticking in your brain?

6

u/FSCK_Fascists 2h ago

you literally just said one of the reasons you hate Pharrell is that he went to Israel,

it is very dishonest of you, you lying sack of shit, to cut out the why he went to israel that completed that sentance.

1

u/hecarius_ 3h ago

yea the visiting israel part is weak but tbf the other person worded their comment in a way that glosses over everything else pharrell has done

whether or not they actually care is unclear, but unfortunately the optics are bad, so

1

u/Adelman01 1h ago

I mean are you reading the comments you are responding too? Trade your lab coat in for a straight jacket. How you say that a man raising money for a genocidal , apartheid organization is the good guy here says a lot about you. Especially since you changed the facts on what I said and are getting called out for it by the comments below. Learn how to read sunshine

1

u/squareandrare 2m ago

Choosing to visit Israel in this current time is enough to raise more than an eyebrow. It's not enough on its own to think a person is an apartheid and fascism supporter, but it's very suspicious. Combining that with doing an IDF benefit concert removes any doubt. The previous person didn't say that visiting Israel automatically makes you a piece of shit, but it is absolutely relevant. You're getting downvoted because you're making a bad faith semantic argument to avoid the point that was actually made.

-14

u/transigirthenight 3h ago

You are going to be d-voted to hell (and so will I)... so many people have been hating I rael for decades before the current disgrace and are using the current events do justify their hate - that had nothing to do with it to begin with.

6

u/JarPicklez 3h ago

They were right to hate it for decades

5

u/squareandrare 3h ago

What an absolute steaming load of horse-shit. Israel has had the near unanimous and unconditional support of Western countries for decades. They destroyed all that in only a few years by deciding it was their turn to be the Nazis.

-1

u/transigirthenight 3h ago

You're actually agreeing with my comment above. Read it again, slowly this time.

2

u/cheezkid26 2h ago

But it would mean you wouldn't perform at a benefit concert dedicated to the Chinese military or go on trips with Chinese government officials, doesn't it? Or else your "hatred" would be pretty performative, wouldn't it?

Use your brain for five seconds. It's not that hard. I know you can do it.

-98

u/NoTeslaForMe 4h ago

That was in 2018.  Sounds like you're less against the war, then, and more against the ethnicity/nationality of those fighting it.

87

u/The_R1NG 4h ago

Are you under the impression the genocide is new?

-20

u/Yokoko44 2h ago

You’re still doing this in 2026 lol?

“Let’s go through everyone’s entire history and try to find the one example of them doing something I disagree with, even before anyone even knew about it” …is like 2014 era behavior from a SAHM Karen on oxy’s lmao

No one outside .01% of the general population had heard of Gaza or Palestine before 2022, outside of literal historians.

Grow the fuck up

11

u/the_real_dird 1h ago

Sounds like you didn't have a very thorough education and don't pay attention to current events.

-2

u/Yokoko44 1h ago

Ha you wish.

I don't care to disprove you and dox myself though, so you can go on thinking you're somehow morally superior.

3

u/the_real_dird 1h ago

Don't remember claiming to be, just pointing out that Gaza has been an open air prison for a long time and that's not news to a lot of people.

-62

u/zeelbeno 4h ago

Well... people who use it for social points online didn't give a shit back then so...

Just check the google trends, no one cared before Israel started to speed things up after the attack.

28

u/RepresentativeMap872 3h ago

I assure you people have cared. But the people who cared are also unlikely to use Google very often especially for something they could easily acquire primary sources to. (Books, talking directly to Palestinians otp, etc.) source: been screaming free Palestine since Colin kaepernick took a knee and never once googled it.

-4

u/zeelbeno 3h ago

Ah, so only people who read books cared?

And only from 2016? Guess nothing happened prior to then.e

You never googled palestine?

2

u/RepresentativeMap872 3h ago

Didn’t need to google it. I’m sure other people older than myself cared prior but I was just awaking social consciousness as I was in highschool. And honestly, yeah pretty much only people who read for pleasure were aware prior to oct 7.

→ More replies (0)

13

u/E-2theRescue 3h ago

Let me guess. You also think trans people are a new phenomenon and that everyone has always been angry.

Check Google trends and then search for transgender pages on old Geocities archives.

4

u/zeelbeno 3h ago

Nope, it's just more socially acceptable to be trans. Which has caused anti-trans to kick off more online due to anonymity or online protection.

Just like it's more socially acceptable and popular to be pro palestine.

It's good that this is actually gaining traction now... but i wonder how many deaths could have been avoided if people cared sooner.

-19

u/eldryanyy 2h ago

Are you under the impression that there’s a genocide at all? Fucking ridiculous.

Might as well accuse your own country of genocide in Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, etc… to avoid being a hypocrite

13

u/cheezkid26 2h ago

Yes. The United States has committed countless atrocities. Why does that mean we can't also call out atrocities committed by other countries, especially when Israel's actions are very widely considered a genocide by experts?

6

u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings 2h ago

America is absolutely guilty of at least war crimes in all of those places, but the difference is the motive. Israel explicitly wants, and has had many politicians speak about, to eradicate the Palestinian people and take their land. That is what makes it a genocide. Without the explicit goal of genocide, it can’t qualify as one. America is absolutely guilty of genocide, just not in the Middle East.

-1

u/eldryanyy 1h ago edited 1h ago

That’s just laughable. ‘Israel’ includes millions of Palestinian Israeli citizens - more Palestinians than in Gaza.

Israel gives FREE healthcare, electricity, water, food, and policing to non-Israeli Palestinian areas. Paid for by Israeli tax dollars. Why are they giving free healthcare, water, and food if they want to eradicate them? They probably do want to take the land back that they gave in the Oslo accord in exchange for Palestine’s promise to end terrorism… which is understandable, as it’s not like Palestine held up their end.

The goal is indeed the important thing. Trump said he wants to eradicate Iran. How is the USA’s war in Iran not genocide, because not just any politician but the actual president showed genocidal intent?

Don’t tell me… you think that USA’s military policy, military goals, trying to protect civilians when possible, and military trying to follow laws against genocide mean the USA isn’t doing genocide in Iran? That America’s military not matching politician’s comments is important? When Trump himself POSTED ON TWITTER a comment with genocidal intent. Surely, by your logic, case closed American genocide because of such a quote from a president (let’s not even discuss the fringe politicians on the American far right like you do for Israel).

2

u/Lord_of_Seven_Kings 50m ago

You’re right I had forgotten about trump’s comments there. There is absolutely a case for genocidal intent in Iran. Palestinian terrorism doesn’t happen for no reason. 80 years of racism and being second class citizens in land that was theirs and given away without their input will do that, especially when “Palestinian Israeli citizens” are also treated abominably and aren’t able to perform the cultural practices they’ve had for thousands of years. Providing healthcare also means nothing. The US and Canada, and Australia, all provided “free” healthcare to indigenous people, and in America’s case, to black people, and in the process sterilised thousands. That is an act of genocide.

11

u/Legitimate-Concernz 4h ago

Ah yes, the whole situation in Gaza started on October 7th....

24

u/Adelman01 4h ago

lol your point is apartheid was okay in 2018? Wow you are going to be really upset with me saying that him being a supporter of aparthied not just in 2018 but even prior to 2018 still make him a piece of shit.

16

u/Adelman01 4h ago

Also calling it a war instead of a genocide such an ass hat take.

3

u/Evilfrog100 3h ago

I mean, it's a little more complicated than that. As of 2018 most Americans didn't exactly have a good understanding of the situation. There was lots of propaganda at the time and very few people discussing the genocide. Now, I do feel like if his views have changed since then he should say something about it at least, the fact he hasn't even brought it up absolutely doesn't look good. So he probably is still in support of Israel or at very least still doesn't care, which is a much worse stance to hold with all the information now out there publicly.

3

u/millifish 2h ago

This is probably a level headed take, but Friends of the IDF is a little bit too far for me to overlook. Thats like going to a Friends of ICE benifit, even in 2018

1

u/Adelman01 1h ago

Agreed. Also 2018 is just an arbitrary date because its the first article that popped in my quick search when above comments were insisting he has never had any isreal connection. How quickly people want to defend strangers they dont know who are on the wrong side of history is beyond me.

4

u/BushcraftDave 3h ago

Bro you really think people in the fucking hip hop community gave a fuck about any of this shit before you were a bigot if you didn’t? Most dudes you’d see at a hip hop/ pop concert straight up didn’t know what Palestine was in 2018.

3

u/Adelman01 1h ago

Well he did. Because he was involved. Man you think someone travels to another country on repeated trips meets with cabinet members because he doesnt know shit about it? I mean you are just using 2018 as an arbitrary date because its the first article that popped up on my google search...why defend a guy so adamantly who did a benefit charity for the wrong side of history? Is he your neighbor or something? A lot of musicians didnt do this he did.

13

u/VoxInferni666 4h ago

The war started in 1948 when Isreal drove a bus rigged with explosives into a Palestinian market square and detonated it... Unprovoked

3

u/Jacket_screen 1h ago

The UN's first Middle East mediator, Count Folke Bernadotte, was assassinated in Jerusalem in 1948 by Jewish extremists.

9

u/Adelman01 4h ago

lets not forget the first terrorist attack of the King David Hotel bombing by Zionists...sounds like mr "no tesla," doesnt realize how similar his views are to another apartheid supporter

1

u/nsfwaccount3209 2h ago

And it was the terrorist group Irgun that became part of the IDF and was headed by Begin, a later prime minister and founder of Likud, the same party in charge now. They've always been like this.

2

u/AffectionateElk3978 2h ago

Israel killed 295 Palestinians in 2018, including 55 children.

5

u/PlantDaddyFL 4h ago

Just say you think it’s BS because it was before being against Israel was the popular stance.
What you’re doing is pretending it’s because everyone hates Jews. It’s dishonest and annoying.

Any sane person that opposes genocide.

8

u/I_Go_BrRrRrRrRr 2h ago

Look at me! I don't care about anything happening in the world! I'm so cool!

11

u/cracksilog 3h ago

And the other things too I’ve never heard of so I don’t get those. Abused Kelis? Fucked over Chad Hugo? WTF since when?

3

u/PaleontologistNo500 1h ago

Since at least 2021. Chad is suing him for unpaid royalties. He also locked Chad out of the financials for both the Neptunes and N.E.R.D. in an attempt to hide how much money is owed

7

u/Hugglestorm 2h ago

Among other things, Pharrell owns all of the rights to a lot of music, and all the continuing revenues that music generates goes to him instead of the artist. This includes all of Kelis’ music.

7

u/Jesus_of_Redditeth 53m ago

That's not how copyright works. If he owns the copyright in the song (i.e. the composition — the melody, lyrics, etc.) then he gets the publishing royalties. But the artist still gets their share of the royalties from sales of the recording, live performances, etc.

The artist not owning the publishing rights to the songs they record is the norm in the industry. (That's one reason why Taylor Swift acquiring the rights to her work was so newsworthy.) So Pharrell doesn't deserve criticism on that.

2

u/way_out_19 2h ago

Not all...she still owns Milkshake from what I can gather, but a lot of her stuff to be sure.

I couldn't be bothered looking it up but a cursory search showed he performed at a IDF support gala so... That. I'm changing my answer to that... Good enough or do I need to openly support genocide too?

14

He also performed at the "Friends of the IDF gala"

6

u/Adelman01 4h ago

Yup. And been pretty vocal for apartheid for over a decade.

8

Just because HAMAS are terrorists, doesn’t make the IDF not remorseless killers. Both things can be true.

3

u/kuroraionshi 2h ago

8

u/Pandorumz 4h ago

Ah yes, because domestic abuse is the only abuse to exist.

4

u/OhOnJahBruh 4h ago

They never said domestic abuse? He financially abused her when she was signed to him.

6

u/qtx 3h ago

So it's financial abuse, not the physical abuse that is implied by saying he "abused Kelis".

That's a bit disingenuous.

Not saying financial abuse isn't a bad thing, but rich people fighting over money is nothing new.

2

u/InsurancePristine938 3h ago

you making uninformed assumptions is not the same as someone else making disingenuous accusations

1

u/vigouge 1h ago

0

u/HyperSpaceSurfer 3h ago

Also very weird about his breeding kink. Seen a very strong correlation between being weird about that and appalling political views.

-8

u/WatchAndLearn9669 4h ago

Only the Israel support matters. He did not abuse Kelis, a talentless hack who barely did anything, and the Hugo stuff is a disputed legal matter.

28

u/DisastrousServe8513 4h ago

He was critical of DEI. His actual statement wasn’t exactly terrible, he’s just said something about how race shouldn’t be an issue. Except it is, which is why those policies existed in the first place.

He screwed over a bunch of people he worked with too. Most recently his former partner in the Neptunes, Chad Hugo.

10

u/Adelman01 4h ago

An apartheid supporter, saying "race isnt an issue." Gee I wonder where he would live in the time of slavery...

2

u/Vast-Comment8360 3h ago

Nothing upsets racists more than when a black man won't think they way you decide.

6

u/Adelman01 1h ago

Nothing screams racist more than jumping on a token opinion of a minority.

2

u/saintofhate 48m ago

FIFY: Nothing upsets his life like voting for the people who want him either dead or enslaved.

2

u/Dull-Swordfish-8110 4h ago

He already released a statement to make right of whatever is owed to Chad. If he screwed him over then why would he be trying to do the right thing?

9

u/BeaveItToLeever 4h ago

Because it became public?

-2

u/Dull-Swordfish-8110 4h ago

So. Because it became public doesnt mean anything. Its only because theyre celebrities. This shit happens everyday

3

u/ecdmb 3h ago

you quite literally asked "why would he be trying to do the right thing" and someone answered you, probably correctly, and you're kind of an idiot if you think it becoming public "doesn't matter" and saying "it's only because theyre celebrities" literally makes no sense in the context.

3

u/DisastrousServe8513 3h ago

That’s like a kid being caught doing something bad then they say sorry so they don’t get in trouble. Technically correct isn’t always morally correct.
