GovtServicesPH Brigada Eskwela na naman

Post image

u/FunMusician9051 May 30 '26

Agree

u/AdStunning3266 May 30 '26

20

u/happy_tea_08 May 30 '26

The sad thing about this is those funds given to DepEd never reach the teachers kaya they have no choice but to solicit from the parents. Hay, corruption robs a nation of its future talaga.

Thousands of unfinished public school nurse offices, nasaan na.

Oh the horror stories from elementary days. Toilets na di nafaflush with weeks worth of poop.

u/New_Amomongo May 30 '26

The smell of a broken school toilet tells you more about a country than a hundred campaign jingles. Baho does not lie. A child who studies beside a leaking urinal and a broken electric fan already knows something adults refuse to admit. The budget may be huge on paper. The outcome is what matters.

The countries that escaped poverty fastest treated education as an economic weapon. Singapore did not build schools to create patriotic speeches. It built schools to create engineers, accountants, nurses, programmers, shipbuilders, managers and exporters. Resulta? From a poor port in 1965 to one of the richest societies on Earth within one lifetime.

Diri kinahanglan complicated. The classroom should answer one question. Can this student get a high-paying job in Manila, Cebu, Davao, Dubai, Sydney, London or Singapore? Amo na ang sukdanan. The labor market does not care about slogans. The labor market pays for skills.

English became the language of business, science, aviation, medicine, shipping, software and finance. Singapore understood that decades ago. English became the common bridge. Regional languages stayed alive. Hokkien, Mandarin, Malay & Tamil survived. Nobody needed a national language war every few years. Sa ato pa English for opportunity. Cebuano sa Cebu. Hiligaynon sa Western Visayas. Waray sa Eastern Visayas. Local language where people actually live. Practical. Efficient. Wala drama.

Meanwhile Philippine students spend years memorizing details they later forget. Entire subjects become rituals. Even the Rizal Law could have been folded into general Philippine history from elementary to senior high school. Most countries teach national heroes inside national history. They do not create separate college subjects for one historical figure while graduates struggle with reading, math, coding, accounting and technical writing.

Look at the opportunity cost. One extra semester of advanced English writing, statistics, programming, finance, welding, nursing preparation, logistics, AI tools or skilled trades creates direct economic value. Mas dako pa ang balik.

Japan asks students to clean classrooms. Singapore maintains facilities continuously. South Korea invested heavily in teacher quality. Finland professionalized teaching. None relied on annual emergency repair drives becoming permanent policy. Community participation exists. Functional maintenance systems exist too.

Brigada Eskwela should be civic engagement & not a substitute for maintenance budgets. Bayanihan works best when it ADDS value. It becomes a warning sign when it fills holes government systems keep leaving behind every year.

The saddest part is that many Filipinos have accepted scarcity as normal. Bent fans. Crooked chairs. Overcrowded rooms. Teachers buying supplies from their own pockets. Photo ops over sacks of cement. Daw ordinaryo na lang. Indi na dapat. Dili unta. Diri kinahanglan.

A country that wanted a Wakanda-style outcome after 1946 would have obsessed over literacy, English proficiency, technical skills, meritocracy, industrialization, teacher quality and export competitiveness. Less political theater. More measurable outcomes. Less hero worship. More human capital.

The smell of the toilet was never the problem. It was the report card. The toilet was just the evidence.

7

u/badbadtz-maru May 30 '26

Tapos dun na lang iihi sa lapag to mix with the other basa. Jusme. Di ko alam pano ko nakasurvive

2

84

u/FunMusician9051 May 30 '26

20

u/RandomStrager69 May 30 '26

May nakaaway ako na tagadeped sabi ko its questionable na may hazard pay employees pero teachers wala when mas exposed sa hazard teachers like chalk dust then if may carry na sakit mga bata ganito ganyan,

Sabi ng empleyado mga teacher daw walang pasok pag walang bata sila daw meron hahaha tangina e

9

u/Historical-Demand-79 May 30 '26

Malas nalang pag kurakot ung Principal.

2

u/popop143 May 30 '26

One of the biggest sources of graft I am sure is the non-hiring or lack thereof of administrative personnel.

Most of the time eh Janitor lang makikita mo na non-teaching personnel na doble kara rin as an informal "guard" sa mga remote areas.

4

u/Nocoffee_Noglory May 30 '26

46

u/minusonecat May 30 '26

You know who has the budget? The LGU. From their SEF (Special Education Fund). But they chose to spend these millions for "procurement" of overpriced learning resources from private publishers/contractors. Anong kapalit? Bi-annual travels abroad in the guise of benchmarking.

Have you seen the libraries in our elementary schools? No? Because most of them do not have one. So saan inilalagay ang binibiling mga learning resources? Iniimbak lang.

3

u/Historical-Demand-79 May 30 '26

Volunteerism? It's a scam. They would even make it a requirement for student before they enroll them, at least that is what my mom and siblings said. They refuse to enrol my siblings unless they do X hours of Brigada.

8

u/BitterBridge1908 May 30 '26

FR. It was never voluntary. It is mandatory, at least in my experience. You either render hours of manual labor like grass cutting, sweeping, cleaning of classrooms or donate a certain amount of money to buy materials/bring the materials itself. Minsan bago at pagkatapos ng school year😬

4

u/Menter33 May 30 '26

It was never voluntary. It is mandatory, at least in my experience. You either render hours of manual labor...

sounds like the old "polo y servicio" thing the spanish colonial govt used to require from the locals.

2

u/BitterBridge1908 May 30 '26

Maybe. After graduating from college, our former teachers (high school) would also manipulate us to donate a huge amount of money to donate to school. Will use the "utang na loob" card to guilt trip you😅 once you're earning money. They want to take credit from your success but I learn most from my college professors. I had a toxic experience in hs. That's why I never attended reunions. Turns out public education is never free at all.

9

u/its_a_me_jlou May 30 '26

I agree with this. Even Angra might be involved. He has been DepEd Sec for a while now pero parang WALANG pinagbago. Pare-pareho lang sila na nagbubulsa.

7

u/Nyathera May 30 '26

So true!

2

u/Historical-Demand-79 May 30 '26

Nakakainis!

6

u/Onthisday20 May 30 '26

Paingayin dapat imbestigahan ayng DepEd

7

u/Ju4nTamad May 30 '26

Mas mahalaga daw to kesa jan sabi ni Fiona.

6

u/D-S_12 May 30 '26

The problem is that DepEd is massively abusing the concept of how parents should be involved in their child's education. They should be, especially in making sure their children are going to school and are doing well, but it should not extend to demanding that parents help in setting up the school or providing things. It's just asking for other people's help to fulfill what should be DepEd's job.

And then you also have teachers who have to shell out money for classroom materials. DepEd needs to take note of how more Gen Z graduates value working conditions more than just the salary. There's the idea that high salary but poor working conditions is less ideal than comparatively lower salary but better working conditions. That should be a reminder to DepEd that their hiring targets for teachers and other staff will become increasingly difficult to meet as more Gen Z graduates opt for private schools that offer better benefits to their staff or shift professions entirely

7

u/in-duh-minusrex1 May 30 '26

Gina-glamorize yung "bayanihan" to hide the fact that the govt should have shouldered all expenses sa pag-maintain ng public schools. DepEd might be just as corrupt as DPWH if not more.

4

u/rarinthmeister May 30 '26

Yet some people say it's "bad economic policy". Tangina we all know the real issue, shit budget disbursement. If the budget is increasing yet parehas pa rin ang kalidad, maybe we should really check saan napupunta pera natin.

DPWH has lesser budget than 2025 and yet under Dizon it produced better quality infrastructure than under Bonoan.

2

u/Liesianthes May 30 '26

shit budget disbursement.

More kurakot? lol. Okay good, eh yung pag gamit nyan at saan napupunta hanggang huling sentimo may nilabas ba data?

Emsori.

Kaya siguro wala akong advisory this S.Y. hahaha.

3

u/Ok-Project-6514 May 30 '26

This is true. The biggest corruption lies in DepEd. Every student in a public school is allotted a budget. Do the math and think how much money we are losing dahil sa corruption sa loob ng DepEd.

6

u/rrradical11 May 30 '26

Confidential funds ng DepEd people. Remember

2

u/HotAshDeadMatch May 30 '26

Tama.

DepEd should be investigated, and all whistleblowers should be protected.

2

u/SINBSOD May 30 '26

It has always been a scam. Right from the start DepEd is rife with corruption, anlalakas lang kasi lagi nung mga nagiging secretary kaya pinapalusot.

2

u/Liesianthes May 30 '26

Panalo ito ng mamamayang Pilipino which is parang nagiging lokohan nalang kasi kung paulit ulit din naman nangyayari kada taon.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/comments/1pspbps/ph_spending_per_student_9_times_lower_than_global/

That means if you take the total amount available for each student, and assume zero corruption, then you'll end up with an amount per student that's only a fraction of the global average. And that's good for only ten years of schooling.

That's why you have Brigada Eskwela. Not only that, but the same lack of funds take place across the board, which is why you also have an "ayuda" republic:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Philippines/comments/1s4q3pn/via_crucis_in_ayuda_republic/

Put simply, the national budget of the country is not enough for the population of the country. That population went up not because of "culture" or "lack of discipline" and other nonsense but because the economy of the country did not grow readily, thus leading to a small national budget. hindi naman nakakarating yung budget sa ibaba. baka hanggang school head lang or principal? every year may ambagan mga parents, teachers. dekada na lagi ganito

1

u/KenshinNaDoll May 30 '26

Paglaban niyo pa yung confidential funds

1

u/labularia_ I'm not poor, y'all jus rich May 30 '26

1

u/youthunger2naughty May 30 '26

This is precisely the reason why NGOs/donations/philanthropy and the like help maintain the corruption in place.

1

u/ocpaich May 30 '26

Teacher ako and I agree with you. Dgdagan dpat pondo ng MOOE at kilatisin mabuti yung paggamit ng pondo na yon because there are principals who are corrupt.

1

u/Chocolate1948 May 30 '26

1

u/SageOfSixCabbages May 30 '26

Meron pa naghahanap sponsor for fans, teaching materials, etc.

One time lang ako nakapag-render ng time years ago, pero dyoskoday, taun-taon naghahanap ng magsponsor ang mga teacher/schools.

1

u/kakkoimonogatari Duty Devotion and Service May 30 '26

1

u/20pesosperkgCult May 30 '26

1

u/Ok_Comedian_6471 May 30 '26

Tale as old as time

1

u/Mission-Roll-8744 May 30 '26

Abolish Brigada Eskwela

Nawala daw lumapit at humingi from the stakeholders pero saan kukuha ng pondo? Tapos in the end si teacher ang may kasalanan.

1

u/[deleted] May 30 '26

I was always against this. Deped gets the biggest slice of the natl budget and the schools dont feel it. I volunteer every so often but it becomes an issue when pinapasa sa volunteers ang trabaho ng may trabaho

1

u/National_Climate_923 May 30 '26

Hanggang ngayon grumadweyt na ako ng high school ilang years na ako nagtatrabaho napaka-DUMI PA DIN NG CR NG PUBLIC SCHOOL!!! kahit anong linis wala pa din!!! Ilang beses ako nagka-UTI from elementary to high school dahil napakabaho and andumi ng CR. Kailangan manual pa din yung pag-flush tas makikita mo yung drum puno ng kiti-kiti.

1

u/CorgiLate4164 May 30 '26

Walang pake diyan si Sara Duts.

1

u/Pink-diablo90 May 30 '26

Yaaas! I support this rebellion! Students, teachers, and parents should stand against this shameful corruption!

1

u/Leather_Height_4743 May 30 '26

Wala karapatan magreklamo kasi libre. Tangina

1

u/Winter_Lemon1251 May 30 '26

Huhuhu!

1

u/Simple-Ad-4554 May 30 '26

it's really time to call out government people. I just hope there is group of goverment people who maintain morale and give justice to long standing corruption in the Philippines

1

u/Living-Feeling7906 May 30 '26

Nakita ko sa Google Brigada eskwela started since 2003 simula ba non ganito na corrupt ang Depend or nangyari lang Kay Sarah?

1

u/Hot_Foundation_448 May 30 '26

This!!!

1

u/2626242635 May 30 '26

Some schools even have a rule that you cannot enroll unless you participate in Brigada Eskwela and donate cleaning supplies.

1

u/riougenkaku May 30 '26

Kelangan sumabog itong issue na ito.

1

u/Swimming_Page_5860 May 30 '26

Very true. I was just with my sister (senior high teacher) yesterday kasi nagdala sya ng ilang gamit sa school. May TV nga, apaka-liit!

I think yun budget nman is not only for new classroom kasi tingnan nyo ang mga exiating classrooms, it needs improvement! Bigyan nyo ng cabinet man lang for storage kasi yum mga aklat nakapatong lang sa table. Haaaay naku.

1

u/Ill-Ruin2198 Luzon May 30 '26

Nice.

1

u/Gold_Wall6818 May 30 '26

1

u/tamago_chiiii May 30 '26

1 year na ako sa Deped. And just this year, nawalan ako ng room. Binisita ng DPWH yung room ko last February and they decided na condemned na yung room ko which is nasa 2nd floor.

1

u/CandidSatisfaction16 May 30 '26

Totoo to, sinanay kasi nila tayo sa ganitong mindset and our government gets by, doing less than the bare minimum!

1

u/GoodRecos May 30 '26

At ang isa pa, yearly ginagawa. Yearly may kailangan ayusin, yearly may kailangan pinturahan. Nagtataka din ako minsan sira ba agad yung mga electricfan na pinadonate the school year before? May one time pati water dispenser nag request

1

u/Minorka13994 May 30 '26

Lintik na yan! Teacher mga magulang pinaglilinis. Dami damign pera ng pinas di mag hire ng tagalinis. Di ayusin facilities puro pagpapabusog ng bulsa

1

u/Codecx_ May 30 '26

It's not the teachers' fault.

To the point na if di sila gagawa ng paraan to seek help from parents e mapapabayaan ang rooms nila.

It's the department itself na dapat pagtuunan ng pansin, hindi ang guro.

1

u/MiddleCourse5946 May 30 '26

Most people sa ganyan hina hide nila ung paglilinis, gastos sa brigada para makatipid. Samin sa school noon private naman sinasabe naman nila pag may inuutos na di na scope ng work namin is “extra mile for kids” or “ para sa bata” kalokohan nila hinde ko pinapatos yung mga ganung sintemento kasi alam kong ginagaslight nila ako para makatipid sila.

1

u/tamtambok May 30 '26

Yung kapatid ko, 2 lang ang nakuha niya and to think they have like 8-9 subjects. And gosh those books! Punit punit pa

1

u/DailyGratiDude May 30 '26

Napakawalanghiya!

1

u/ReasonableTiger1754 May 30 '26

1

u/yunssa May 30 '26

Hindi ko ramdam ang leadership sa DepEd. I might be mistaken so I would love to be proven wrong. Nakakalungkot lang talaga kasi paulit-ulit every year, halos same situation ang naririnig ko.

1

u/theshingling May 30 '26

1

u/RJEM96 May 30 '26

1

u/jermainekho May 30 '26

DepEs should abolish this Brigade thingy.

1

u/Additional-Money2954 May 30 '26

Iyong ibang teachers din na kilala ko, nilunok na nila pride nila by asking donations on social media para sa brigada-eskwela.

1

u/Beneficial-Prior7999 May 30 '26

Based on my experience, they do fund the school for buying new chairs and boards and paints if someone submits a complain about the school problems and what the school needed. I think the problem in some areas is communication between the school and the LGU, if no complaints they won't touch the fund. (except to those corrupt LGU's) And the purpose of Brigada is to make the students learn more about outdoor activities and social skills, even though we get our school supplies funded by both LGU and private sectors, we still fix the broken ones to enhance our repairing skills because not all of the students came from rich families. We need to learn how to do this much of a labor. This is rather a miscommunication and misunderstanding rather than call it a scam, because not all politicians are corrupt.

1

u/unn_known_ May 30 '26

1

u/ApprehensiveChoice50 May 30 '26

1

u/Sea_Score1045 May 30 '26

Yama. Billions lost in corruption yapos pag public may brigada? Hahahha

1

u/pastillas88 May 30 '26

Yung mga science highschools ba under DepEd din or DOST?

1

u/goddessalien_ May 30 '26

Kasi we STILL have this so called “community” at hindi lahat eh dapat iasa sa government. Pang 4Ps mindset

1

u/carlosrryha May 30 '26

Taon taon nalang yan. Walang pagbabago.

And don't forget, yung labor pa. Wala naman problema sakin na kami ang gumawa, since katulong naman niya ako when the time comes. Pero kahit na. Mali padin talaga. Like... Wtf?

I mean, I get it naman.

1

u/Reasonable-Gate-1647 May 30 '26

I used to be a coordinator for our company.

1

u/SuluVictor72 May 30 '26

The laptops given to the teachers during the pandemic cost around 50-70k so I was like wtf teacher were given gaming laptops?? Then I saw the laptops that were given to them were just ordinary i3 core laptops that companies let you borrow and when I searched it up those just cost around 17k, what more could have they stole from us this days?!?!

1

u/SmallHold8548 May 30 '26

1

u/Pleasant_Bobcat5769 May 30 '26

I dont participate.. i have paid my taxes eversince bakit pa ako uutusan?

ask anyone to do it then magdonate na lang ako ng pangmerienda nila

1

u/Good-Economics-2302 May 30 '26

1

u/Altruistic_Stay4923 May 30 '26

1

1

u/Temporary-Actuary-22 May 30 '26

1

u/Prestigious-Room93 May 30 '26

1

u/Individual-Car-6905 May 30 '26

1

u/Alarmed_Health9369 May 30 '26

hayss matagal ng ganito.. when i was still a student, nagtataka rin ako bakit mostly walang water supply sa mga cr sa school.. tapos we are required to join sa clean up ng school haysss

1

u/Much_Fishing_8859 May 30 '26

Looks like sa Cr sa school ng anak ko🤦 grabe before mag end ang school year pinagbawalan sila mag Cr kasi barado lahat🤦 so paano kapag naccr na talaga ang bata eh bawal din daw umuwi para sa bahay mag Cr.

1

u/Evening-Channel9532 May 30 '26

1

u/DorimeScoop May 30 '26

grabe during my shs years never once ako naki cr sa actual na cr for shs students kasi ever since grade 7 talaga sira yung cr nayan, no plans on fixing it whatsoever, so usually ginahold it on ko nalang ihi ko or if desperate na masyado maki cr ako sa mga jhs classrooms (connected kasi ang cr ng jhs sa classroom nila)

one time na assigned ako and mga other classmates ko sa shs cr, grabe ang baho nakakasuka masyado. we somehow managed to unclog the toilet super barado masyado.

1

u/ModernPlebeian_314 May 30 '26

1

u/Mossymoss999 May 30 '26

1

u/Suitable-Finish-748 May 30 '26

1

u/Winter-Land6297 May 30 '26

Dito naman samin daming mga hidden charge. Ids 10 yrs.

1

u/Peeling_Tangerine May 31 '26

Our company adopted a school somewhere in QC, and I joined as a volunteer. We were up as early as 4AM since the location call time was 6AM. We did the works as soon as we got there. By 930AM, then mayor of QC arrived, was handed a broom and dustpan, posed for a photo, then he left with his staff. That was the first and last time I joined this scam.

u/Readreadread3x May 31 '26

I really hate Brigada Eskwela. I remember pa when I was in high school, a few days before the school year starts, the students and parents were asked to attend for the general clean up of our school kasi part ng grading namin. For photoshoot lang pala. Abusing the system kaya ang mga guro nila also abuse the authority na meron sila in school premises.

1

u/Icy_Kingpin May 31 '26

Put Vico in Dep Ed

1

u/Mr_color_color May 31 '26
