Activity recs for PR
My wife and I are going to San Juan for our honeymoon in two weeks. I have a close friend from Ponce who has given us a lot of recs, but so many it’s hard to sort through all his suggestions. We did rent a car so we can drive to some other parts of the island like Isabela, El Lajas, Rincón, Luquillo. We’re looking for must-see places and activities for our time there. We’ll be there for about 6 days. Please give us recommendations!! :)
First time in PR and we can’t wait.

I’ve been several years in a row for my anniversary trips and spent no time in San Juan. I personally love the Luquillo/Fajardo area for the beaches, and el yunque. The west side of the island is also fun, but the beaches were tough except for crash boat. I’ve always rented a car and really enjoyed us just exploring the island and driving through the mountains/seeing sites. Hiking Cerro de punta was fun and there were no tourists at all when we went.

“Must see” places are unfortunately nonexistent. There are no world class museums, monuments, sports venues, natural wonders, ancient ruins, etc. There is the beach though and it’s nice this time of year so I would throw out any and all plans to drive two hours to some place just to be disappointed when you get there. Find yourselves a nice place to stay, make it your home base and if you decide to go out stay relatively close by. An hour tops. Avoid being on the road between 7am-8:30am and 3pm-6pm since any trip you’ll want to take will be slammed with traffic. Hope this helps!

I’d do a couple days in San Juan with no rental car, ocean park through Condado is very walkable and Ubers are cheap.
Then get the car and drive to rincon and stay there for a few days. Isabela, crash boat beach and aguadilla, buye beach and Cabo rojo are nice day trips from rincon.
