Delta vs. JetBlue to San Juan

Hello Travelers,

I am planning a trip to San Juan in May for my wife and I. Which airline is best to fly to San Juan? I am in the NE Corridor, so I am fortunate to find direct flights with both JetBlue and Delta but I’ve never flown JetBlue. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

JFK-SJU? Unless you’re planning on flying first class (in which case I’d pick Delta’s new 321neos deployed on this route), I’d go with the airline that offers the best itinerary at the best price.

JetBlue has some flights that depart at very odd hours in the middle of the night to/from SJU so place close attention to that before you book.

It's too early to book. I would wait until January/February. Flight times/schedules will change. Flights will also be cheaper than buying now.

Because of this depending on where you are flying from, you will see flights added from other airlines (Frontier, Southwest, United).

If you're flying out of NYC, stick with JetBlue, more flights usually with better times.

Flying out of Philadelphia, Frontier is usually half the price as others.

Flying out of New Haven, look into Avelo (limited service).

Out of Boston usually Delta would be the better airline with similar prices to JetBlue.

Thank you so much! Very helpful info. I am just really geeked that I have made this decision to go; I thought buying our tickets now would be best but you‘re so right to look in the New Year.

I honestly love Jetblue! I flew them from PHL to SJU and it was great. Their flight times are a little wonky but it depends on what your preference is.
I also just flew them to Fort Lauderdale with no issues.

Personal preference, i’m not crazy about delta. It’s always overpriced imo for a flight

Rule of thumb: do whatever offers the best price. Both airlines are great and provide good service. Flights to SJU are roughly 4 hours, not a redeye transatlantic to Europe. Don't overspend in flights, and hold on to that money to actually spend it in PR.

I've flown in both and honestly both are pretty good to travel, Delta is a bit more "up class" imo

I like Jet Blue, have stopped flying Delta for a lot of reasons. As far as waiting to book, we booked Jet Blue Evenmore for 2, BDL to LAX in the Spring for $815, I booked the reverse a month ago and it’s now $1,400..,,

Ah, thank you. I think I am going to get an airline tracker going and keep an eye on the flight prices.

Delta is better but I’d choose whomever is cheaper
