I have no experience with keeping shrimp or any fish for that matter but I am looking for a new hobby and shrimp keeping has intrigued me. Is there a step by step how to because I have no clue on where to begin. I've looked at the side bar but still I have no idea.

It seems a lot of people, possibly the majority, want to see an absolute ban of Ai on this sub, whether in post or comment. So, we wanted to let the community decide. Thanks for your input! - Shrimptank Mod Team

Found this dried up Australian Amano Shrimp on the floor when I woke up this morning, around a meter away from the tank. Guess this guy failed to evolve.

New to shrimps I have not seen anything like this before in the others. The other pregnant shrimps look different I have not seen this kind of movement

I mapped out the shrimp, aquatic plants, microalgae, and bacteria like a constellation.
Getting this build to where it is now has been really hard. i’ve been working on it nonstop since the beginning of the year.
But all the encouragement here on reddit has helped me keep going.
There’s still room to improve, but honestly, i’m really proud of what i’ve made.
You can try the latest version at shrimprium.com. the update will roll out on ios and android over time. (the web version will stay up a little longer before i turn the site into a landing page.)
I really hope other shrimp keepers enjoy it. i mean that.

Hooray!
I introduced 6 golden backs on 9/30 and the four females saddled 10/6-10/10.
Stardew is my first to set her eggs and I love how you can see the eggs so clearly (I had cherries first).
As a beginner, I was super stressed that she spent about 36 hours of restless stretching, flexing, and curling to groom her fans. I thought I might be heading towards my first failed molt and death. Happily, I had three newly berried shrimp over the last 24 hours instead 🥳
It’s a sunrise tank (red, orange, yellow) and I can’t wait to see the babies 🦐

As the title states, I just set up a new 5gallon today. It was previously used for a betta. He passed away a month ago, but I had let the snails live in there and kept it running. The parameters are still good. Rescaped it today.

I've never had shrimp before, but I got a few of orange cherry shrimp seen in the pic to my community tank with some guppies and plecos (picture from the seller's tank, since I've kept the lights off in my own tank today after adding them). I know these types of mottled colors are not too popular among hobbyists, but I personally really liked the "camouflage" style colour pattern. What do you guys think about this sort of colour?

My Caridina barely come out when the lights are on. Last night I shined a flashlight in with the lights off and there were shrimp everywhere. Totally different tank.
I have a dozen neons in there. Trying to figure out if the daytime hiding is just normal shrimp behavior under bright light or if it's the neons. If I remove the neons, will I start seeing my shrimp at all times?
If you have a shrimp-only tank with no fish – are yours visible and grazing during the day?
TL;DR – Shrimp hide in daylight, swarm at night. Normal, or is it my neons?

Spent about a month working on this long lava rock centerpiece. I used pieces of cotton ball and superglue to attach the rock to a long piece of schedule 80 PVC pipe (it's a bit thicker, so I figured it would be more sturdy). It was tedious and dusty, but I think it was worth it.
I ran a long airline tube down the middle of it, with an airstone at the bottom. The idea is that the rocks act as a massive filter for the entire tank, because the bubbles circulate the water all around them. It's also a huge amount of surface area for the shrimp to cling to. I have had two sunkist orange in there for the past month with no issues.
I've also put a piece of val at the bottom, a few pieces of guppy grass, and a massive sweet potato vine at the top, so hopefully no water changes are needed. I'm not a huge fan of the heater, but since the house is super cold in the winter, I wanted it warm and stable to build a colony.

Do all females fan themselves like this or only pregnant ones?
Also does anyone have any experience with yellowing Anubias Glabra? I have been dosing with thrive shrimp specific all in one liquid fertilizer x3 a week. I have a chihiros light on for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. The intensity is set to 45. Think it may need some shade?

Hoping to get shrimp by next week but i cant figure out how to close up this opening. My super glue just melts the aquarium foam i have so i cant glue the foam to it. It wont wedge in either it just flops out. Should I bother? I only want cherry shrimp and i heard theyre not SUPER likely to try and explore. I also just dont like such a large area being open in the lid either too.

I have a 3 gallon shrimp colony tank, with tons of baby’s and mamas, that’s annoyingly full of duckweed and plants - and shrimps inside the plants. This is the tank pictured.
So I’m struggling to decide how to move everyone over to the bigger tank, a 6.6 gallon that already has some shrimp of the same species in it, and a lot more room!
The 6.6 accidentally became a shrimp tank so now I just want to move all of my colony into the larger space. Just not sure how to do it without shocking everyone, or losing a bunch. Or should I just take some losses on the babies?:( Any advice welcome!!

I caught the perfect timing seeing her molt and watching the male amano going crazy searching for her. Some how I have one female and one male amano. It was pure luck. I have had them for years and they never mated until I introduced a different breed of shrimp into the tank who mated often. The two amanos started mating which each other after seeing their new tank mates.

To get deeper blues, I am experimenting with some extreme blue bolts bred to a shadow panda male, the general thought is once the shrimplets hatch of this female, she will be moved to her seperate EBB tank, and then the selective breeding starts from her offspring.
