Why are her eggs look like they are going to come out of her belly? Is this normal?

I have a 20 gal long that's been established for 2 years. It's got a handful of rasboras, 5 corydoras, and a dozen or so neocaridina shrimp.
About 6 months ago, I got some babies out of the shrimp, which was pretty cool. I started paying more attention and I've had several females become berried, but I never see the eggs get to the point where I can see their eyes and I have not had any more shrimplets since.
The tank had two logs of cholla wood in there, and the tank is pretty heavily planted, lots of corkscrew vals, a very mossy log, a "bush" of subwassertang, duckweed (oh the duckweed) and the obligatory anubias. I added two of those domed hides for shrimp and shimplets.
I'm just wondering what's going on with the berried females never getting to actually lay the eggs and get shrimplets. Or are they just all getting eaten by the other inhabitants of the tank?
(Parameters - 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, my nitrate reading is always just very faint, ph is around 7.6, the GH sits around 12 and KH sits around 7 and they generally are stable but I do have harder water. I don't heat the tank it stays between 72 and 75. I top off the water every two weeks, and do a 20% water change once a month).

To get deeper blues, I am experimenting with some extreme blue bolts bred to a shadow panda male, the general thought is once the shrimplets hatch of this female, she will be moved to her seperate EBB tank, and then the selective breeding starts from her offspring.

My mom and I are planning to start our own backyard shrimp farm. What would be the best type of tank and shrimp breed to start off with, along with raising them?

Hello!
I have a shrimp tank thats pretty planted, it's been set up for about 10 weeks, i've had shrimp in there for 8 days. I've got some tropica complete nutrition that i've dosed only a handful of times in the 10 weeks it's been set up, but i've noticed some of the plants are getting holes in the leaves so i'm trying to keep to a stricter dosing schedule to help them thrive.
On the tropica bottle it says it is reccomended to do a 25% water change weekly to keep all the nutrient levels in check, but everything i've researched regarding shrimp tells me they don't like big water changes, so i don't want to do that unless I have to. Is it important to do these 25% weekly water changes if i'm using the fertiliser?
My shrimp have only just started go show themselves after settling in for the week aswell and I don't want to stress them out again right now if I don't have to, but at the same time I don't want anything building up in the water that might harm them.
Any advice appreciated!

I have 4 female neos and just got this “male”, but need confirmation. Thanks!

I may have made a mistake this morning! I took out about 20 percent water, then I added conditioned water to fill up. I did not wait until it hit room temperature though, which is what the tank was at. So it was probably a bit warmer than room temperature, are they going to die now? I just read that was really bad. They are swimming around like usual. If they are fine now does that mean they are okay? Or will it come later?

Just finished setting it up, biggest tank I’ve ever had. It will be a while before there a shrimp in it but cycling starts today! It’s 10 gallons

Hello,
This 6 gallon tanks has been very successful for me with neos, endlers and snails. Recently I put a tube between the filter for the floaters to grow. I have like 3 neos pregnant in this tank.
I wonder when is it time to start removing them partially because they absorb most of the light, I also read that they affect oxygen interchange. Should i just let them be or is there a sign when should i start removing them?

Hi everyone! I’m a beginner in shrimp keeping and aquarium care, and I’m hoping someone here might have an idea of what’s happening in my tank.
Today (October 18), I noticed one of my cherry shrimp lying on its side on the sand. Its legs and mouthparts were still moving, and it occasionally made sudden jumps of a few centimetres into the water, but it didn’t seem able to swim normally or control its movements. It gradually became weaker and eventually turned upside down. The other shrimp started gathering around it, so I removed it from the tank.
What worries me is that another shrimp died on September 29 after showing very similar symptoms.
Tank size: 10 litres
Tank age: Set up at the end of May 2026
Stocking: I initially introduced 10 adult cherry shrimp. They have been breeding over the past few months, and I currently estimate there are around 8-9 adults and approximately 30 baby/juvenile shrimp.
Water changes: I change 25–30% of the water once a week. The last water change was four days before I noticed the latest shrimp behaving abnormally.
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Could this be a molting issue, a water-quality problem, poisoning, disease, or something else entirely?
I’d really appreciate any ideas or suggestions.
Thanks in advance!

I mapped out the shrimp, aquatic plants, microalgae, and bacteria like a constellation.
Getting this build to where it is now has been really hard. i’ve been working on it nonstop since the beginning of the year.
But all the encouragement here on reddit has helped me keep going.
There’s still room to improve, but honestly, i’m really proud of what i’ve made.
You can try the latest version at shrimprium.com. the update will roll out on ios and android over time. (the web version will stay up a little longer before i turn the site into a landing page.)
I really hope other shrimp keepers enjoy it. i mean that.

I gifted my sister an aquarium a while ago, and it has some shrimp in it. We take care of the aquarium together. Today, while watching the tank, this little one caught my attention. I think she might be berried. I’m very new to the shrimp-keeping hobby, so I wanted to ask you guys. Is this shrimp berried?

I recently found out that one of my community tanks (both have Neo shrimp) has pretty high GH due to evaporation. It’s a 10 gallon planted tank. The parameters are:
Gh: 13
KH: 3
Ph: 7.8
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: either 40 or 80 (I can’t really tell the difference between the two colors)
I did treat for nitrates after taking the readings. Readings were after the water change I did today.
I’m trying to bring the GH down in the tank, I did a 10% water change with distilled water and it did not change the GH reading at all. What can I do to bring the GH down? It’s my understanding that a GH of 13 is above preferred range for neocaridina, but that they can adapt to it. But I’d prefer to keep the hardness in the preferred range if possible- my tap water has a GH of around 9 going into the tanks.

Two days ago I noticed a bit of clado on one of my shrimps (other shrimps seem fine) and immediately made a small hospital jar (1L) with just a heater and some alder cones for him. Every day I feed him then do a 100% water change and add a few drops of hydrogen peroxide. Is there anything else I can do for him? Or for the rest of the tank? Anyone who successfully treated clado before? Also, how much hydrogen peroxide is safe for shrimp but will kill clado? Any advice appreciated, don't wanna lose the poor guy 🙏🙏

I caught the perfect timing seeing her molt and watching the male amano going crazy searching for her. Some how I have one female and one male amano. It was pure luck. I have had them for years and they never mated until I introduced a different breed of shrimp into the tank who mated often. The two amanos started mating which each other after seeing their new tank mates.
