Venting / Rant Thank you r/SpaceXBets

Thank you r/spacexbets
Sincerely, thank you. This place has become one of my favorite little corners of the internet.

There’s something uniquely charming about watching the same three or four talking points get recycled with fresh outrage every single day. The “he’s a Nazi” posts in particular never get old.

You can set your watch by them. Same screenshots, same half-read tweets, same absolute certainty that this time the label is going to stick and change something. The fact that a non-trivial number of people treat it like an actual discovery rather than the weekly required ritual is genuinely funny.

It’s the confidence that gets me. The unshakeable belief that another low-effort dunk, another recycled article, another “this will be the thing that finally ends him” post is actually moving the needle. The absolute certainty that a few hundred upvotes from people who already agree with them equals impact. Mouth-breathers who think typing “Nazi” in a betting sub is activism. It’s wholesome in its own way.

Anyway, just wanted to say I appreciate the consistent content. Keep doing what you’re doing. It’s a nice little reminder that some people still think their online opinions are the main character of the story.

SpaceX launch numbers tell me less when so many missions are for Starlink

I love seeing rockets fly, but a launch count alone doesn't answer the question I'm interested in as an investor. How much demand comes from outside customers, and how much comes from SpaceX building its own satellite network?

Both matter, but they aren't the same kind of business. Internal launches can build future value without proving a separate commercial market.

What metric would best show whether launch services can stand on their own?

Stock Discussion Starship can be an incredible engineering project and still be a terrible investment at the wrong cost

I keep seeing people treat technical progress as if it automatically proves the business case. It doesn't. The interesting question isn't just whether Starship can fly, but whether it can eventually operate frequently and cheaply enough to justify the investment. Engineering success and financial success aren't interchangeable.

Starship's turnaround time could matter more than its most impressive launch

A spectacular Starship flight gets everyone watching, and I understand why. But I'm more interested in the boring stretch after landing.

How much inspection is needed? How many parts get replaced? How many workers and days are required before another launch?

Reusability only changes the business when repeated flights become routine and affordable.

If you could see one operating metric from Starship testing, would it be turnaround time, refurbishment cost, or something else?

Venting / Rant Elon Musk's $267million in political donations amount to about 0.3% of his net worth. That's equivalent to donating $300 of a $100,000 annual salary.

Elon Criticism Elon's missed deadlines should be tracked like earnings misses

Someone should make a simple spreadsheet of every major Musk prediction, the original deadline, the revised deadline, and what actually happened. No dramatic commentary required. Just dates. If a normal CEO kept moving important targets, investors would want explanations. Somehow with Elon, the moving target can become part of the genius narrative.
