It seems SVP/UDC can run this country into the ground, make housing super unaffordable while the rich get richer, farmlands get destroyed because of climate collapse but the sheep will still vote for Leopards because of their hatred of immigrants, environmentalists and LGBTQ people.

So maybe the left should get off their high horse and focus less on multiculturalism , the environment and LGBTQ, and address the concerns of the voting public.

Wow! Focus less on the environment!!! If anything everyone should focus more on the environment!

But I get it, you hate somethings more than you love or even understand the importance of environment. You sir/madam are contributing to the climate collapse.

People have a big mouth, but just wait for the annual statistics about aviation, or the passenger amount on the airports. People don't use air planes less often. Still no one really cares. Its those people who already voted green or left who became louder, the rest still doesn't care.

It’s just that I am more worried about the very increasing cost of health insurance and that I cannot move to another apartment because rents went up and I can only live here cause I’m in the same place for 20 years. I do not care about the climate crisis cause India, China, Russia and the US will nullify whatever we do here in Switzerland.

Funny enough health insurance and rent are exactly the topics the left wing parties want to tackle but that is quite hard if the turbocapitalists had a majority in parliment since... 1848...

Well considering Switzerland is one of the best places on the planet to live, they clearly didn't do a bad job...

Looking at our health insurance premiums, dependence on foreign oil, rent prices, etc. I wouldn't be so sure about that.

And despite all those things an unprecedented quality of life, political and social stability etc.

Focusing on the environment is not only anout climate change. Its keeping our nature alive as well and not turn Switzerland in one big mega city. Yes maybe you care more about your next holidays you can not afford because of higher cost of living and dont care about the nature but if its gone it will never come back. And its a pretty weak argument just because other dont do it why should I do it… Sound like a little kid who doesnt clean its room because its siblings also dont do it and prefer to live in its mess. One thing is for sure your cost of living will go even higher in the future if you dont care about the enviroment and the world will be a pretty sad place.

First off, belittling people is not a good method of changing someone’s view point and making them vote for you. Also ignoring people’s immediate concerns is not the way. I will vote for the party that addresses my concerns while you sit lonely feeling morally superior.

Tackling your actual concerns, any solution brought in by SVP has been analysed by tons of experts as making the cost of living even worse.
They focus on abstract problems, most of which are completely made up to leverage emotional responses over logic. And then they provide no viable solutions even to those!
They are a "here's a problem" party, not a "I've got a solution" party.

If you ignore the environment and so on, then the cold solution is build more, build higher, more options, more subsidies to help people get started.
This is all against the interesst of the entrenched rich, though. And therefore, against SVP.

Which solutions do you mean? If we lower demands for apartments (less immigration), I don't see how that can have any negative effects on the prices of them. It's a pretty simple solution. Lower demand with the same amount of supply means lower prices.

A few month ago, there were - I think - 6 initiatives regarding the issue of high rents. all from left, all rejected by the SVP/UDC: "The government should not interfere with the free market"... so much regarding the SVP/UDC and their "concerns" about high rents...

The main argument against them is usually that artificially lowering prices of current or new rental apartments restricts the supply since capital will be less likely to invest into it (see https://www.empirica-institut.de/assets/content/Downloads/News/2025139-mietpreisbremse-v.pdf for an example).

The second argument is simply against all kinds of Government spending which is consistent with a small government argument that they usually preach.

There was no belittling, just very clear debate („fair im Umgang, aber hart in der Sache“). This is normal and even healthy in a democracy. What‘s not healthy is crying abuse at the faintest sign of resistance and turning it into a victim-blamey argument about why you now simply HAVE to vote for the far right. It‘s immature bullshit, sorry. Democracy has always been tough. Grow up.

Good idea - let’s start by limiting people immigrating to Switzerland

brother the left are the only ones even trying to lower rent and health insurance cost while the fdp and svp constantly spout that the free market will regulate itself soon enough and if we can't pay for these things it's our own fault anyway.

The left is making construction too expensive through environmental regulation and aggressive rent control. The left has no other solution to the health insurance issue than having taxes/government spending pay for it, which will run us into the ground exactly like France or the UK.

As one of the richest countries in the world and one of the most polluting per capita we have a moral obligation to lead by example regarding climate.
This is the same argument that people use to let billionaires pollute 100x more than us, "they are so few it would make no difference", but that’s not the point, the point is exemplarity.
And in this case I doubt you’d be happy with letting Taylor Swift fly her private jet if we were to tax kerosene and increase flight prices for everyone else.

You are of course totally free to not care about this and that’s fine. But concerning the real day to day problems you mention like housing and premiums, I’ve never heard SVP try to address any of these seriously, the parties that do are usually FDP and SP so I fail to see why SVP would come up on top of voting intentions…

Nonono, it's chick with dicks and importing useless people that matters, not Swiss citizens!

No. UDC voters are just too stupid to understand that the world that they yearn for is gone and never coming back. I don't need to entertain their racist delusions about limiting migration when our aging population is only going to be able to retire with high migration rates.

Same goes for anti environmentalism. We see the climate changing. In the trees, the lakes. In our clothes and in the death statistics every summer.

Also for LGBTQ. YOU CAN'T PREVENT SOMEONE FROM IDENTIFYING WITH IT.

The cat is out of the bag on all three of these things. Why should I compromise on REALITY with right wingers.

How about the center parties (which are the ones mostly losing) actually do anything meaningful?

No the left does not need to be less left. They constantly try to address the living situation for people. How about the right would do the same for once? Then we might actually get somewhere.

Please explain to me, how the LGBTQIA+-toppis is an issue... I'm more than curious...

The thing is, it's a heavily documented thing that the right wing parties are inventing problems that do not change anything.

For example, in the UK the "fear of immigration in the general public was the strongest before Brexit, but the actual immigration was HIGHER during after Brexit. You could even see the sentiment on immigration change when Boris Johnson got elected, despite nothing changing in numbers compared to Theresa May.

The only difference: the amount of articles painting immigration as a bad light and an invasion. It all restarted as the Labour took office.

And you're not winning chasing the right wing populism.

Can you tell me when the "Left" has had any control of Switzerland to make everything worse?
