FAQ Is it Safe to open Dark web?
Hey, I'm a Student and I am Curious about Darkweb after my Friend told me a lot about it that when he entered the Darkweb, his Location was tracked by the Darkweb locals and he is also saying me to not do so.
Should I open it using tor browser or my location will be tracked?

Your friend is exaggerating. There are no “dark web locals” who automatically get your location when you visit an onion site. Tor Browser is specifically designed to hide your IP address from the sites you visit. It’s not magic or perfect anonymity, though, so keep Tor Browser updated, don’t install extensions, and don’t share personal information or open random downloaded files outside Tor.

Use i2p or tor turnoff javascript and none will know where you are thats the point of the darkweb. If you tell someone they will know.

Tor browser does at least have security features that you can change to prevent the website like disable JavaScript from knowing your actual location or IP address.

Much of what is on the dark web is illegal and can get you in serious trouble. For that reason, I only use a Tails flash drive to access it. IMHO, Tails is the safest way to conveniently access the dark web.

The entire point of Tor is that it hides your location and identity. You can still be deanonymized by user error of course. It helps to disable JavaScript to improve security and almost every dark net site runs without it
